I use this method with a trout magnet and a 1” cheese pinch crawler and out fishes everyone around me and allows me to release my fish but this is a great idea I never thought of!!👍👍

I happen to use a lot of dough baits and power eggs. I happened to stumble across some size 2 and 4 circle hooks by Gamaktsu and I have yet to gut hook a fish... knock on wood. Another option to try, I’ll have to give this method with a trout magnet a try as well.

Every time I’ve used dough baits, they have come off the hook - including when I’ve reeled it back in to recast. When I use the dough bait (or any other bait) what’s the best way to not gut hook? Does color and scent make that much of a difference?

The techniques in this video are the best way but keeping a fingers over the line to feel for the bite is also a great way to set the hook before the fish has swallowed the bait.
