I do like the flavor on Excalibur. It takes a special being to pull it from the stone, so it's very expensive and only equips legendaries, but it reduces the cost because the right person will pull it from the stone. It almost feels like it should equip as soon as it's cast as well, because somebody had to pull it from the stone. As far as the Caduceus, it goes back to Moses. There were many Israelites getting bit by snakes and dying. Moses was told to put a golden snake on the end of a staff and hold it up and anyone dying from the poison would be healed. Thus the idea of the Caduceus was born.
I really like the gauntlet. So late game, everyone has all there bullshit out. You show off your fancy new gauntlet and knock someone out of the game. Because all of there creatures got tapped in amazement.
Bit of a win more, but something to think about. Echos of eternity, the eldrazi kindred enchantment, doubles nearly all of these triggers, found out with artifact creatures when i was doing sealed with it. Definitely allowed me to go bigger than the field but made me want to build a sword of X and Y deck with it.
It is a decent bit of protection / interaction in colorless. It utility goes up significantly if you have access to instant speed artifact recursion like Goblin Welder, Goblin Engineer, Emry, or similar effects.
The reprints are absolutely here to sell packs. The packs are absolutely not going to be worth the price. Not even close except in rare cases where you pull chases. Time to watch the market and mingle with the singles.
