    You're my Saturday night date! I always look forward to whatever you're doing, as I learn something. Sorry about the thumb. I pray it heals up. You always inspired and make me want to throw even if I've just finished a full day at the wheel. 😂

      I still look forward to going into the studio, after all these years. You have some nice videos too, I bought the flower moulds to try them out, they may sit in a draw for years but they may be interesting with my flower roller stamps. I hope your summer is not hot and dry.

      I feel the same about watching Vaughan! I always look forward to Saturday night and when you post as well! We all learn from each other and what a gift to have the opportunity to do so. I fell asleep before this posted so off to watch Vaughan now! 🥰

    Thanks Vaughan for the canister lesson, I have yet to throw a lid and will put this on my to do list. Sure hope your thumb gets better with time and grateful for you sharing your talents. My work seems to always have some chattering with celadons used, I just love the look. Well done. 👍

      Yes the transparent glazes are best. I am going to make a very pale blue glaze this week and another green glaze.

    I love watching your videos you seem like such a genuine nice gentleman. Your throwing is wonderful too. it's so nice seeing your work and the process. I was watching someone else make a funeral urn and they touched on what you said about omitting the nob too. They basically said that you don't want to encourage people to open it as once its full of someone's remains on the mantle you don't want a guest maybe idly looking to see what's in there, encouraged by a nob. And as once its full there is no purpose to the nob as it should remain so (I guess unless you are scattering the ashes later). You and the other person were right, seems like a very sensible omission to me too. Hope the thumb isn't too painful and heals well.

      Thanks Tegan, she picked up the one without the knob today. It is always sad when you make one of these, except the teapot urn, she seemed genuinely excited. Too bad we can't launch urns into space using anti gravity to explore the universe, the green approach.

    Hi Vaughn, one of your biggest fans here. One of the most valuable lessons I learned in pottery class was "keeping your hands connected" as long as possible. I never see any You Tube potters mention this. Would you mention it in future videos?

    • @Vsmithpots
      @Vsmithpots  4 місяці тому

      I have mentioned this in previous videos. When I pull a wall I talk about it having my thumbs touching to help synchronize the motion. Also anchoring to the wheel head as long as possible, so I use my right little finger to push down on the wheel for as long as possible when starting a pull. Good points to emphasize.

    Looks like an urn that can be turned in to a vase after the ashes are cast. Might be a nice tribute.
