Very few records make your jaw drop on first listen. Van Halen debut did that for me. It sat on my turntable for months. Come home from school and listen to it over and over for a couple months.

I really enjoyed this video. There is nothing better than talking classic Rock with a old friend. Van Halen is second only to the Beatles for me so a big thumbs up!!!
Great to see Butch again, love it when he’s lost for words because he loves the song so much. Whenever I hear Van Halen I’m taken back to my first trip to the USA when I was 15 in 1984. The album of that name had come out and I was a big fan. I was in quite a smart restaurant in Miami with my parents when I spotted it had a jukebox. When I then saw that ‘Panama’ was on it, I put it on 12 times in a row. I was not very popular with the middle-aged diners.

Having grown up in the 70s I was indoctrinated by Zeppelin, Purple,Sabbath,Kiss and Aerosmith and was hearing about this new band Van Halen. I was at my local record store the day VH 1 came out. I had to take a bus to get there and get home. I remember walking in my house with album in hand . I went straight to my room and dropping the needle and my mind was instantly blown. Eruption just left my jaw on the floor. I will never forget that moment.

I had a feeling that Ain’t Talkin’ About Love would have been high up there. It was so good to see two guys who love one of the greatest bands of all time with such a passion. I was a Judas Priest and Iron Maiden nut in the 80’s and then one day I bought Van Halen 1 and was blown away. You both spoke about Eddies (Edward’s) riffs, grooves and solos and they are the spine of VH but Diamond Dave’s wild and spontaneous vocals were the perfect foil to Eddie’s super technical style. Eddie had the groove, Dave had the soul.

Ah man....no Me Wise Magic? That song had me so pumped for the '96 "reunion." Human's Being also great for a Hagar tune. Eddie was on fire for some reason in 1996. I believe that is when he switched from Crystal Pepsi and removed the Pepsi part. Whatever he was doing his playing was heading in the right direction. Me Wise Magic is a top 5 VH song in my opinion for sure. Take Care Guys.

Thanks for the honourable mention for I'll Wait! That song, as much as it doesn't represent Edward's guitar prowess, it shows what he could do on the keys! The driving beat, the bass & Dave's vocals on that tune (it just oozes sex) has ALWAYS made it #1 off the 1984 album for me, and that track will forever be in my top 5! Ain't Talkin' Bout Love would be my #1 - I'm with you Pete! And it's that opening riff that does it for me! Good list, both of you! Go Oilers!!

Funny thing, when I was a teenager my favorite albums were Women and Children..., and their debut album. But now, after all these years, I guess it's exactly the contrary, I'd go for Fair Warning, and VH II.... Go figure !
Van Halen II has a special place for me. One of the first albums I bought as a youngster. Played it to death. My mother said it was a bunch of noise, but she loved 'Dance The Night Away' :-)

I had a feeling that Ain’t Talkin’ About Love would have been high up there. It was so good to see two guys who love one of the greatest bands of all time with such a passion. I was a Judas Priest and Iron Maiden nut in the 80’s and then one day I bought Van Halen 1 and was blown away. You both spoke about Eddies (Edward’s) riffs, grooves and solos and they are the spine of VH but Diamond Dave’s wild and spontaneous vocals were the perfect foil to Eddie’s super technical style. Eddie had the groove, Dave had the soul.

Ah man....no Me Wise Magic? That song had me so pumped for the '96 "reunion." Human's Being also great for a Hagar tune. Eddie was on fire for some reason in 1996. I believe that is when he switched from Crystal Pepsi and removed the Pepsi part. Whatever he was doing his playing was heading in the right direction. Me Wise Magic is a top 5 VH song in my opinion for sure. Take Care Guys.

Thanks for the honourable mention for I'll Wait! That song, as much as it doesn't represent Edward's guitar prowess, it shows what he could do on the keys! The driving beat, the bass & Dave's vocals on that tune (it just oozes sex) has ALWAYS made it #1 off the 1984 album for me, and that track will forever be in my top 5!

More seriously, thank you guys I had a great time watching this video, it felt like old times, when me and my buddies would talk about our favorite VH songs or albums while having a couple drinks... Funny thing, when I was a teenager my favorite albums were Women and Children..., and their debut album. But now, after all these years, I guess it's exactly the contrary, I'd go for Fair Warning, and VH II.... Go figure !
Van Halen II has a special place for me. One of the first albums I bought as a youngster. Played it to death. My mother said it was a bunch of noise, but she loved 'Dance The Night Away' :-)

I love that song so much, though it's probably not my all-time favourite VH song. I still remember the first time I heard it: that killer riff right at the start... one of the fattest and tastiest guitar tones ever.
