The definition of an original cobra can be stretched in many bizarre ways these days, especially since I believe Shelby is in charge of certification. Goodwood gets the creme de la creme though. It’s possible all or most of them are true originals rather than ones rebuilt around a small scrap of surviving of a surviving frame. Awesome either way.

You can see his hands motioning as if he’s going to shift up on phantom paddles on his wheel, and it looks like he’s punched the clutch as well at the same time. That might’ve been what caused it to slip out of gear and retire the car. I may well be wrong but I know if I’d dropped the clutch having built up such high revs in my old car it would have destroyed the gearbox and lost all power… slightly different car tho lol.

Terrible race coverage after the first 45 minutes! We had positions 3 through 5 swapping back and forth and yet we're forced to watch the parade between 79 and 47 for 1st and 2nd, while ALL the action was going on behind them between the 8, 12 and 13 cars.

how many licence points is winning a goodwood race. surely winning a goodwood race is now a bucket list thing for old racers. would be cool if they could settle on a few formula and maybe go world wide. the old race cars series always do well on broadcasts. its about the width of race track to size and power ratio also, makes for better racing. old spec racing is always one of the better support categories - why isnt their a limited world wide series ? is it because motorsport wasnt worldwide it was regional so old time racers in australia wont cross over with europe or US. very hard to homologate some of those aussie bathurst winning cars - they took those to world touring car and spanked the europe weetbix burners. i do love GT4 and GT3 formula for the asthetic. Its also one of the preferred sim leagues. with so many artificial formula why are these shelved - put kids in them race kids in old cars...GT kids.

No, not downforce, it allows the air to detach from the back of the car with less turbulence. Better drag coefficient.

A modern Hyundai wouldn't stand a chance, a modern Corvette would probably run laps around them. What's so appealing with these cars, is the fact that they have to be driven in a completely different manner due to the bias ply tyres, the racing is certainly action packed and risky due to the grass.

Did you watch the in-car camera shots? The best drivers' hands are so much more calm. Compared to the others, Jensen was so much more in control, with so much less sawing of the steering wheel. All those extraneous and reactionary inputs slow down the car.

Real deal. The car Jimmie Johnson's driving (the red #13) for example, is a car that raced at Le Mans in the 1960s, and is also a right-hand drive version. The TVR that crashed into the barriers, that even raced at Goodwood in the 1960s. One notable DNS in this race is a Ferrari 250 LM, that one is the second to last 250 LM built, and finished 2nd overall at Le Mans in 1965.
