Agreed, we of the vintage / classic car community need to participate more in such events. When my parents were part of the British sports car club in Ontario TSD events were a regular part of the fun.
Thanks for taking us along - was very enjoyable. That's one of the many things cool about your channel - Lee. You take the time to share even the little things. It was cool Lux got to go along. The Comet's looking and sounding great.
All my old cars get three point safety belts. If I could put safety air bags in them, I would. But, the minimum is the safety belts. And disc brakes on the front, at least in my 1965 vw bus. The 1967 El Camino has adequate drum brakes but I still intalled three point safetybelts in her.
Thank You for that much needed tour/rally, what a day of sun shine, Great job on navigating Lee and thank Shanon for the skilled driving, the 302 loves to cruse, Keep up the great content.Cheers.
Glad you guys had a safe fun family trip👍 You should look up the Carrera Panamericana rally in Mexico. Cannot currently do that there now but I built a 41 Ford 2 door sedan and ran it down there several times. 2000 miles across Mexico in 7 days. It a TSD rally with timed speed sections thrown in as well. LOTS of AMAZING cars I raced against and witnessed down there.
Danger Danger comet coming through. That Saab is like the original rally car. Lux was very well behaved. Although you sed your not the best passenger, it was good that Shannon drove her car. You can swap seats when you take yours Lee. Enjoyed take care. Tim.
The Saab was pretty cool. Unfortunately it wasn’t competing, but I did see it on the road a few times at check points so I’m assuming the owner was volunteering
@@timferriss905no, they have a timing system set up for each car number, so when we went through each checkpoint a person would hit the button and the timing system would record our time. They kept track to the hundredth of a second.
I had a 61 comet when i was 15. Had 17000 miles on it. 6 cylinder and still had the plastic on the rear seat. Kinda pea soup green. Called it the puke green vomit! Kinda miss that car. Yours sounds awesome through the lake pipes.
Doris goes for car rides everyday. She sat the rally out because we felt like we were already pushing our luck bring a 5 month old baby, I think a dog in the car would have prevented us from being able to compete. She spent the whole afternoon at the beach with friends while we were on the rally.
Great question. I sold it shortly after the island 500, and about six months later it was parked at a hanger at the airport. The new owner messaged me asking if I had another engine, as he ran it out of oil and killed it.
Lux on his first car event. Great day to drive through the country!!
It was a fantastic day for a drive
I enjoyed this video. My Grand son is eight months. Nice seeing your baby.

Thanks for watching!
Love this Merc!
Thanks. Although it’s technically just a Comet. Mercury didn’t adopt the comet line until 1962.

So when you got to a check point did someone sign your pad to say you had been?

Very interesting thanks

Shannon bought a green comet parts car several years back that was nicknamed the Vomit Comet
@LGKustoms I wonder if it was my old one. Guy that bought it was gonna swap a 390 into it.
Hey Lee! If you were to order a deuce fuel tank in Canada where would it be from? Bob drake is a nogo.
@@toddbader6104So-Cal in Surrey would be my first choice
Thank you for this. Having lived in Duncan for a few years I have done the Cow bay back road loop in my Fairlane.
So many good roads in that area!
Way cool ! I used to do a lot of tsd rallying when I was younger ,won several of them too. Great fun.
Awesome!
I'm right there with you, Lee; carsick as a passenger, especially if I have to read maps, instructions etc!NOT fun!!!
Yea I was contemplating buying some gravol or something before we left, but I was actually fine and felt great all day!
👍😊
It's already freezing by your side, big winter is coming ? 😀
Canada isn’t really known for its tropical winters
Poor Doris, no more rides for her!

What became of the green Pinto ?
