The short passing also enables them to press fast and agressive when they lose the ball as there is loads of City players present in the area already, from the short passing, this disarms the opponent counter attack. The players always have to be aware; if I lose the ball here, am I covered? It is the defense's job to deliver the ball, to the attackers, in the final third, so that they can do their magic. From this point on they are free from positional play. Another mechanisme to disable counters is that the first thought is to always pass deep forward towards the 9 this will lead to more players behind the ball and thus is safer. The initial 433 diamond (transitioned into 343 diamond) explained by Cruyff to play with 3 in the mid as opposed to 4231, is implemented in order to have those 3 men behid the ball (Amongst many other reasons). in that sense, the system is fairly defensive. Disabling defenses by freeing up a player(with ball) in the zone between their attackers and defence is spot on deadly and can best done with two strikers creating an almost mano a mano lst vs lcb, rst vs rcb with a cm almost freely to play in the . This is the diamond in Barça system, where they dance around with. The intire Barça system consits of playing in the third zones, thus horizontal and vertical.

What makes him different is that he spends more more than any other coach so when he loses the champions league he can say that they won in possession.
Under Arteta first game as Arsenal manager from his move away from Pep; I noticed how wide he kept his wingers, literally a foot from the sidelines! Players were positioned closer together but in a way that they were supposed to be there (in their assigned area/boxes) which created more accurate passes and possessions. I also noticed he pressed with a 3-2, with Saka & Nile pushing up and Torreira or Xhaka dropping back at times. In result, Saka had many chances but unfortunately failed to deliver decent crosses. Also he uses Ozil in that half boxes/area btw the midfield and defenders, which allowed Ozil to create several chances. With that system, Bournemouth were unable to freely press, bc Arsenal fullbacks/wingers were stretching their fullbacks out, the midfield were compacted, but unfortunately the lack of world class central defenders at Arsenal is very troubling and cannot be fixed unless reinforcements can be brought. All to say, it’s evident that Arteta is developing a similar tactic at Arsenal, which will take a couple of months if not a season or two, and once he find the right players in the market or at the club, then he can fully transform the club. #COYG
Ole was able to dismantle this system with the help of a five back and a double pivot. Make a video on how Ole was able to break this system and how is he able to play great football against the top 6.
The way Silva Find his half space or through balls and Kevin running in the wing and get the ball from Barnardo is the most effective and it always turn out to be a Goal.
Silva the legend has gone, sane the roadrunner has gone? Aguero getting older? Fernandinho almost done, ake ,ferran torres all need time to adapt? I dont see man city winning the league this season also
Here should be also explained, that having the wingers wide creates more chances in 1:1 play. This is the difference to other teams who use full backs to create width. Everyone will agree that Sterling or Sane would be much better in 1:1 than Walker and the other full back. So with having KDB City can easily transfer the ball from one wing to the other and hence utilize the above.. Plus, having the full backs not running on the wing till the other side of the pitch makes them not that tired and keeping them in this zone helps the team to protect against counter-attacks - because usually the full backs are the fastest defenders.
This type of functionality is only possible with lots of work, possession and organize support movement, as long you keep possession. you are more able to control the game, making space, have enough time, to create, identify and exploit those space that the opponent will leave when they are try to close down the space between players and line.
"No more than 3 in Horizontal Zones and No more than 2 in Vertical Zones" How do you organize the line up if you start the build up from the GK and all of the player in their own half?

Heynckes Bayern treble winners, Klopps Dortmund.... focus on some specific seasons?
More of this please. Please do a Klopp analysis
He uses a 5 line system. Starting ten yards before half way line and ending on edge of 18 yard box. Wingers stay high and wide and constantly run in behind and don't get the ball 9/10. It's as simple as that.
It's nothing new. Teams playing 3-5-2 do that.
The graphics and content is awesome! What app do you use for the graphics?
Discovered this channel recently and I love your work. Can you do an analysis on Inter Milan and their 3-5-2.
This channel keeps making my day :)
Great video, I have heard about the concept, but not really learned how it works until now. Thx
Amazing! I always look forward to your content!
Fantastic vid & analysis
The best of the best , his brain ia just amazing . Its unbelievable what he has done at football. All the other managers looks the same but he is something different and unique!
Wow... Pep sounds like a meticulous guy. Super deep analysis.
Nice explanation man, I love your channel.
"Less about pointlessly passing the ball": to me that is a breathtakingly simplistic and ignorant dismissal of one of the very greatest teams in league history and a pretty damn good international one
You’re actually a hero and I love your analysis videos
Excellent advice and information
As a Wiseman once said "it's not about the X's and O's; it's about the Lennys and Joes... Pep has also had some of the most talented players in football playing in this system and I think that makes the biggest difference in the long run
Pls do analysis of Leicester and Chelsea tactics
nice work thank you
I consider him a great coach but I don’t think he should be in the same tiers as the greatest coaches of all time until he takes a team that hasn’t won anything and gives them glory cuz that’s a truly daunting task that only the greatest can achieve without having anything handed to them
Beautiful analysis, you know your stuff
Pep Guardiola genius, alien but
Jurgen Klopp is human spirit
Pep goes from popular clubs to other popular clubs, while Klopp made Dortmund and Liverpool to the strongest teams of the world.
Pep wanted to avoid so much loses by choosing good sides.
@@marcusantonius4102 sTroNgEst teAmS iN tHe wOrLd
@@marcusantonius4102 What would you do? Go to a huge, money spending club or a disorganized club? He gets offer from such big clubs to spend money and play beautiful to help the club reach the top. Even Klopp would've gone to a more money soending club like City.
@@aasw1n OK, you got a point. But that simply justifies that Pep goes from club to club, but does not show that he is really good, because if you are surrounded by good players you also become (or seem to be) better. Klopp proved his class. Pep (in my opinion) didn't.
I can see the simplicity in your explanation, but I can't understand everything you are talking about. Please add subtitles in Spanish, I need them. I've never seen such a professional explanation of pep's positional game. Greetings from Chile, I love your videos ❤
i thoroughly enjoy your videos
Wonderfully explained. Can you also make a video on Nunes buildup as well.
That was a lot to take in. Very well explained! ✌️
So, now we all are different? 😂
Thanks for the vid. You've explained it clearly. Now I'm going to apply it in fifa 😂😂😂 great vid btw
What makes him different is that he spends more more than any other coach so when he loses the champions league he can say that they won in possession.
This channel is amazing keep it up Lad 👍 Saludos amigo 🇵🇷
#COYG
well this aged poorly.
Ole was able to dismantle this system with the help of a five back and a double pivot. Make a video on how Ole was able to break this system and how is he able to play great football against the top 6.
This video is a masterpiece.
Didn't this pitch framework and positional play come from Michels & Cruyff from which Pep learnt when he played under Cruyff?
This type of functionality is only possible with lots of work, possession and organize support movement, as long you keep possession. you are more able to control the game, making space, have enough time, to create, identify and exploit those space that the opponent will leave when they are try to close down the space between players and line.
"No more than 3 in Horizontal Zones and No more than 2 in Vertical Zones" How do you organize the line up if you start the build up from the GK and all of the player in their own half?
Gr8 video🔥 but what's the title of the song used in the background?
The title should have been:
" how Pepsis football differently ..."
Genius
Genius with world class players 👏
I have a new you favourite football channel!!!! officially subscribed
this is sounds very similar to noumans tactical analysis videos
In my Sunday league a coach once suggested leaving a man way behind the back four to prevent goals. Obviously doesn't understand offside
@Ciaran Smith ya ya just didn't think other people would understand the term
That's desperate. I played as a sweeper. But never played more than 3 yards behind the FBs. And our team played with WBs.
Awesome job
Football to a whole new level
Good Content- Keep it up
those brilliance was destroyed by pep's overthinking itself
The tactical side of football🤤😫
this is by far the best tactical analysis video I've seen so far.
PS: it would be much appreciated if anyone could point out other high quality analysis videos like this.
You are goddamn right
Piotr foot
You are amazing, I know Guardiola style since 2010, and it has not changed, but rather developed and added to the details
** iam sorry i not speak english good
Greatest manager in the history of the game
yeah indeed making of no players something.
Yes, He's.
Stfu he ain’t no where close to Rinus who’s the father of his father n SAF who won averages n scrubs
The man who went all the way to South America to consult the likes of Bielsa on whether he should embark on coaching.....goes to show how seriously he takes the beautiful game
Yea, i can relate very well. That's what he did at Barcelona. That's why Barcelona always dominated and with intensity.
Barca playing style from Rinus tikataka simple playing aka total football, those who has grow from that playing style like Pep always trys to improve style
Amazing work…
Pep is genius, but more interesting topic is how klop's liverpool can beat him very often
Great video, please do klop the nemeziz of pep and also sarri
Hi, what software did you use for the pitch/players?
Well when I did my coaching course in Argentina, we use 5 vertical lines and the horizontal might be 9 or 10 meters long in order to have a short team
what software are you using?
There is one problem with this system, is that it doesn't have a defensive equivalent..
You mention in the beginning talking on the 18 zone tactic in a previous video, can you add the link to watch that particular video?
Tbh i use this since FM18 with Everton, Villareal and Milan
The result was amazing in third season: they're all win the league
What’s that?
My mind is blown with this tactical explanation, great video
Do a video on Sheffield United with those attacking center backs
FMS, I want to see you explain Tuchel positional play
