This brought back some high-school 80s vibes for me! Oingo Boingo were a "alternative" (new wave) band that had some commercial success. The lead singer is Danny Elfman who collaborated with Tim Burton on his movie soundtracks. So since the 90s I think he did quite a number of them.. looks like he did pretty well. Mark Mothersbaugh lead singer/keyboard from Devo also got into the soundtrack biz as well.
Cool. I saw them in concert twice back when. They were on a bill headlined by The Police. Come to think of it, this was probably their biggest "hit" at that time, a couple years before "Dead Man's Party" and the rest. So what happened to them was greater popularity and a massive selling album. At any rate, the influence this song had on the theme song to The Simpson's is clear. For more Oingo Boingo, check out "Gray Matter" and "Nothing To Fear".
This song could have easily been called "The Dripping With Sarcasm Song". Maybe a little too on-the-nose. It's a shame Oingo Boingo mostly got pigeon-holed as a one-hit wonder. They're a great rabbit hole.
Just to let you know, Brad, Danny Elfman, (the singer/song composer) has lived a charmed life. After Boingo he went on to compose movie scores, including most of the Tim Burton movies, and is still very active and doing very well. I don't recall anything "bad" ever happening to him in the last 40+ years, so this song is pretty accurate.
Danny Elfman after breaking up the group became one of the most prolific composers of music for movies, most of which I am sure you would know well, though would not know that he had composed the music for. Here is the complete list of movies he composed the music for en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_compositions_by_Danny_Elfman
They broke up...but that was much later and because Danny wanted to explore more musical avenues, he went on to film composing (and is still extremely prolific). Only a Lad was a heavily sarcastic album espousing the virtues of humanity's darker side with songs like: Little Girls, Perfect System, Capitalism, Only a Lad, and Nasty Habits; among other great songs, inluding a cover of You Really Got Me by The Kinks.
Did anything bad happen to Oingo Boingo after this song came out? Well, the singer got divorced, and later lost his hearing, but other than that, they were quite successful.

And The Simpsons theme
A guy down the street from your brother got decapitated!? That's a heavy one to drop on us without further details.
In the 80's MTV played this video to death. LOL
Love Oingo Boingo. A great more "serious" song is Skin. Thanks for the reaction.

Yes! I don't believe I've seen anyone react to this song. Have you done "Only a Lad"?
Silly new wave music. But fun.

You might not know that some of your favorite movie scores were composed by Danny Elfman including the theme song to The Simpsons :-D

Apathy.
