Video doesn’t demonstrate end user operation.
Operational demonstration is a must. Some brands come with a weak piston that gives almost no damping. This video lacks that demo.
That is why I was asking about installing a second assist on the right side of the tailgate.
I installed one on my truck a few months ago and it's kind of annoying because it drops so slow

This video leaves out some important steps. You should redo the thing. very frustrating having to guess what to do.
This video doesn’t show the nutsert procedure. My nutsert tool screwed up. Now I can’t screw in the ball joint. What does it mean on the instructions (which are vague at best) “rotate 9 full turns?” I didn’t see the guy in the video counting. Then it says DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN but by this tolls very nature you are over tightening to expand the nutsert. So here I am with a half installed nutsert and a stripped Allen bolt and nut.
Yeah what's with these videos nowadays these so-called mechanics can't even show you how the tailgate goes up and down
After the install.if you're going to put a video out there show it from start to finish don't say all this was done in a different install blah blah blah blah 😝

The ball bolt that goes into the tailgate just broke today. Haven't even had it for 6 months.
Great demonstration. Do you think this would work on a 1999 ram? The older year models aren't listed for the cylinder. What would prevent this from being installed on the 1999?

Can you install the tailgate assist on the right side of the tailgate. I have already installed one on my Ram 1500 but it still has a “Clunk” when it bottoms out, I would like to install a second assist if possible to slow down the tailgate even more.
I believe you can if you have the right mounting holes on that side. Otherwise, I *believe they do actually make sets of two or something like that for that specific purpose. It's not that it won't fit, it's just based on whether you have the mounting holes.
Maybe im crazy, but cutting the tab on the limiting washer seems like a better idea then fully removing it
Does it matter which way the piston is installed. What happens if it’s installed with the larger end to the bottom. Just asking as my unit never came with any type of instructions period.
Good luck lifting it. You'd be pulling against the piston

@@iateit The extend is the same up or down Your not changing the internal parts by inverting it, I did it on mine and it works just fine
It's a neat thing to have, but when it comes to change the tail light bulbs it's a pain in the ass to have access to those screws

You would have think the manufacturer would have put an extra hole in the bracke to remove light. As I said before very observant.
so I messed up the nutsert. had to pry it out.
any way to buy just that piece without buying the whole kit again??
You can buy a net set tool snd the crush nuts at HF and many auto parts places.
How did you pry it out. Just had the same issue
honestly i don't remember. I know I reversed the nut so it pushed back in then just got a pair of pliers on it and started yanking
@@Cbar603 I unscrewed the bold and then drilled it out, then removed my Ram 1500 tailgate cover to use a magnet to retrieve the broken end. Mine kept getting loose and finally broke off. I thought I could access it inside the tailgate and use a lock nut, but it was not accessible, so I just purchased a new complete liftgate set and will use lock tight this time on in
All that and you cant show it functioning.

The 2019 and newer has install location behind driver taillight, super easy and hidden

I agree with everyone; they DEFINATELY should have shown a demo of this product. Normally their videos are pretty good, but this one is one of my least favorite so far. You can find a different video or two online that shows it I found one with a silver/gray Laramie where the guy did demonstrate how it functions. This also does happen to be UA-cam, so you can probably find 100+ videos on how to put in the nutsert in as well. Would have been nice to have instructions but you can just use your resources!

Tailgates are not heavy. I have never understood these things.
May not be heavy for you, but could be heavy for someone else! Or someone could just want a damped tailgate just like some newer trucks come with! Why no offer it to someone that wants it, yknow? -Zach
