This is mostly an early game issue due to different factors (but I agree, like in PoE1 armor/evasion with life reg is king for every class in the first 10-20 levels): 1. You need to invest into offensive passive nodes in PoE 2 early due to the lack of gear (so an almost instant recharge is hard to get) 2. Another option is to play with mana as an additional defensive buffer (e.g. "mind over matter") with high mana reg / amount. 3. If you do not have enough damage enemies do not die fast enough, additionally there are far more ranged and sprinting enemies in PoE 2. 4. People are not utilizing their defensive possibilities (e.g. rather play frost and freeze build up early than fire/lighting, chill also reduces attackspeed etc.). 5. Lack of gear also effects defenses (e.g. life reg, resistances) which eats up the shield heavily. 6. People do not understand the impact of shield recharge, cc-ing enemies etc. As a frost monk with a lot of freeze buildup I have every boss either frozen or stunned for most of the time - which allows him to barely do anything. Was playing lightning first and heavy struggeling with survival - trying to go for defensive stats. Now I can mostly ignore my defense since I use freeze as an "offensive" defense. 7. Bosses require a lot of multitasking as ranged (esp. when they spawn additional adds and dmg is low). And they can hit hard, when you do not know their encounter or have no movement speed. Since I played the early game with every class multiple times now (I like act 1 more then the rest) it's interesting to see how much you improve in the game.

Hi. Ty for this build, love to play it. Hope to see future updates Can you explain how elem invocation works? Its stucks in 100% pretty fast but comet not casting
100% is for cast on freeze. For elemental invocation, when you put the skill on your bar, you see number on. It means how many comet did it stack. So when you hit the button, you instantly spam 3-5 comets in a sec. But make sure that you have enough mana before using it.
Would you prioritize energy shield earlier if playing HC? As a lvl 20 sorc in HC I feel like ignoring ES at this point is pretty detrimental no? Or should I look to pickup some armor/evasion instead?
A few reasons. 1 is availability, if you're at the top of the tree there isn't any support for life or evasion. 2 ES can scale way higher than life can. In poe 1 you'd see builds north of 10000 ES. But the biggest weakness of ES is mitigation of physical damage. Usually hard to find
I was watching your stream the other day and you mentioned that cold pen doesn't increase damage, but i didn't catch why. Would love your feedback if you have time. Thank you for the great video.
These guys are correct, it's because we already lower the resistance of enemies super low with frostbomb and frostbite. My frost bomb applies -72% cold res plus another -42 from frostbite so penetration does nothing
How do you sustain es tho only option with easy access on stormweaver is recharge and the recoup node but only works for ele dmg, phys dmg would still kill us and what do you do when you cant recharge with degens like bleed ignite chilled ground etc.
ES = bleed immune, you don't bleed if no life is touched in PoE 2. Chilled ground doesn't deal damage, only a few enemies with breath attack make it deal damage DURING the casting, but it only slows after that. The only real issue is ignite, and getting ignite charm + reduced ignite duration anywhere solves it mostly. There are also poisons, but CI gets rid of them entirely. If you don't want CI, same solution as ignite, tho I find poisons much more common than ignites.
Chalupa monk has instant mana leech and a node for mana leech restoring shield. So that's an alternative, it's like a pseudo life leech build. You could also do eternal youth notable node that makes your flask work on restoring your shield. You could even do the spell blade nodes in the tree to be an offhand Sorcerer if you wanted haha.
Hey great guide i've been playing it and it's quite good. However when I started running maps I am constantly running out of mana and mana flask charges. I have around 950 and even bought the best mana flask 20 quality Ultimate with 60% increased recovery and extra charges, it gives back 600 mana yet I am still running out of it. A lot of times I end up freezing mobs and comet is not being cast as not enough mana. It is getting quite annoying. Have you found any "clever" way of dealing with that rather than the usual just get more mana/mana regen nodes? Dmg is insane tho(if I have can afford to cast :D ) .
Alright did some adjustments and changed controlled destruction to spell echo in the cast of freeze setup. Feels better that way as the few comets I manage to cast cover more area and kill more stuff that way. Still not the best, but I will try to grab some mana nodes as my ES is now good.
@@nikolaichervenkov1569 If it is a real trouble, you can always use inspiration to lower mana cost at the cost of damage of course. I also suggest to use + mana gain per enemy kill mods on items. I have like +35 and it helps a lot when i do map clearing.

Whats the difference between Gain % of Damage as Extra Cold Damage and % increased Cold Damage for example? Also increased Critical Hit Chance for Spells and increased Critical Spell Damage Bonus, which one is better and how should you pick? Increased spell damage or increased cold damge if all spells are cold if you have both does it multiplying somehow ? Coud you make a guide about that?
Gain damage as extra, especially extra of the type you are scaling, is by far the best. It calculates your damage you are about to deal and then adds a multiple of it on top. Increase damage all goes into the same pool and is calculated before that. Critical damage bonus only multiplies the extra damage that the critical strike does, not the base hit. You could make a ridiculous boss killer with that staff lol. With my cold sorc I can do 50% of the boss hp in the first 5 seconds by freezing the boss, tempest storm, unleash comet followed by cold snap +conc effect + hourglass. I do all the dmg while he's frozen so 50% more would be massive
Also depending on the wording of that staff if you freeze the boss once he permanently takes 50% increased dmg? If so that is absurdly strong and you could use it as a weapon swap. It should work like that with how it's worded but I doubt it actually does.
