i did my first winter camp last year and it was always flurries. I wondered if it was moisture rising out of unfrozen surrounding lakes/rivers then turning to flurries at a certain point. The immediate lake beside me was frozen but waterways on the trip in were not. I don't know if this happens...i mean it is a sort of lake effect snow i guess. This night footage is about the most amazing footage I've seen. I couldn't relax if I knew a wolf was in the vicinity. especially outside a tent. Awesome again Maxim.
Winter Camping is wonderful for that. So many interesting iterations of snow and ice and water constantly changing. Glad you made it out! The night was really beautiful I agree.
Maxim: I’m reminded of this: “Learn to reverence night and to put away the vulgar fear of it, for, with the banishment of night from the experience of man, there vanishes as well a religious emotion, a poetic mood, which gives depth to the adventure of humanity.” Henry Beston, “The Outermost House,” p. 173.

I hope you make the opportunity! There are many different ways to do it. You could buy pre - cut wood and camp close to your car the first time! Thanks for watching!
Hey Brandon. Why is it hard to pick a good spot? Is it because you want to avoid those animals? I've always hoped to be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a wolf. This region has no coyotes because the wolves kill them. Thanks for watching! Cheers

I've only got a smartphone and GoPro for now, but which type of camera would you recommend to take better footage at night, and still handle the elements? Keep on truckin', Max.
So I recently started using a Sony A7 IV with a sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. If you have the budget and you are looking for low light camera specifically for videography the king is the Sony A7 s III. If you are on a budget and filming a lot of low light camping stuff I would suggest buying lights first ( lume cube panel pro or panel mini). If you are looking for a good all around budget camera I would highly suggest the Sony rx 100. It is not good in low light (but no cheaper cameras are) but this will give you amazing footage in 90% of the situations you need. Thanks for dropping by!
@@maximbudnick Sorry to hijack this comment. There seem to be several versions of the Sony RX 100, ranging in price from 300-1100 bucks in my area. I'm guessing you mean the RX 100 III (2014), the cheapest, right?

Hello! Its awesome that you want to go solo. It really is different in a good way then travelling with someone else.
