The runner on the 1/100 calamity you are talking about is for GAT gundams, freedom gundam is ZGMF, remember in the anime that it is just a stolen gundam?

Pretty sure Freedom came out before Calamity though. Supposedly this was not well received in Japan so it affected the sale of full mechanic Calamity a bit due to its reputation.
It's because the statue is based on the RG and this kit is based on the statue so in a way it is indirectly based on the RG which really shows in It's looks because it literally looks like a 1/100 of the rg freedom.
My Nephew has the Freedom 1/100 no grade (with a 1/20 Lacus figure), the FM kit has even more panel lined and new improved joints. Dang it's a huge jump. 😀

Isn't that literally the point of RG? The first RG was based on the 30th anniversary statue. The Unicorn statue is also the same design as the RG released around the same time.
Question: Are the pegs on the backpack solid or hollow? and are they aligned with the holes of a standard HG backpack? (could they be reduced to the correct size with a file paper?) Would it be a dificult modification?
You could get the MG Freedom, in my opinion the MG looks better than the Gundam base only one, though the hip joints can break easily so i recomend ordering cast iron hip joints if you are planning on getting the MG

Considering there's an MG ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam [Ver2.0] buying this is probably not the best choice unless you're a big fan of the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam. I might make an exception and buy the Full Mechanics GAT-X131 Calamity Gundam later though.

The MG Freedom 1.0 actually has a lot better structural integrity, build & articulation compared to this. This kit is just a glorified No-Grade 1/100 SEED kit from the early 2000s.
Depends on what you want to do. As a straight build the MG 2.0 is better, for kitbashing the FM might be easier to work with. If you like the classic anime version of the Freedom, the FM is closer to that whereas the MG 2.0 is a slight, more modern redesign most noticeable in the head, chest, and wings
Wow thanks yea the main reason I did like this design originally was for the detail but I am trying to do some custom panel scribing so maybe I could transfer this on the 2.0. The only other thing that I don’t really like about the 2.0 is the thin waist but I feel that I could try and widen the waist with some pla plates or epoxy.Thanks for the suggestions!
Speaking of the Full Mechanics, I've got the Calamity Gundam in my backlog, I'm so nervous about building it. I don't think I can do it justice with all the respect in detail it should have. Also, the first time in applying water slides have me in Full Anxiety.
Honestly man just take your time with the slides and cut out all the ones you plan on using individually. Also the secret nobody told me use a clear coat or primer once they’re applied so even if you accidentally nudge one with your finger it’s not rubbing right off like normal
The freedom not having the 1/100 fm gat frame is basically a confirmation of the raider and the forbidden and maybe even the chaos and abyss probably not the gaia seeing how different it is but I can see the chaos getting it
What kills me is the MG Freedom 2 doesn't look like the Freedom. They changed the Balaena Beam Cannons and the torso size too much. It's clearly an "almost Freedom Gundam" where this one looks exactly like the show. I ended up buying the Full Mechanics just because the MG2.0 gets an automatic fail for changing the silhouette of the Freedom. Bronze aethestics with Gold tier quality isn't what I wanted from the 1/100, and I'd rather have accurate aethestics. Fixing those MG2.0 wings would just be too much.
I personally like the mg freedom 2.0 because the Shanghai freedom reminds me the rg and the rg is NOT good. So it triggered me to see the Shanghai freedom

The term "Full Mechanics" (FM) was first use on the "No-Grade" (NG) kits from IBO-line like Barbatos, Vidar & Bael. But recently, Bandai use the FM term for the newest SEED NG 1/100 line like the Calamity Gundam. So yeah, FM is just a label for the newer NG 1/100 kits just like "RE/100" for UC line. Such labels still don't guarantee quality. You have to look at it from "case by case" basis.

@@pongki2351 GCP Freedom is the Shanghai statue which this kit represents. Also, not all NG 1/100 kits are trash. I still have my old NG Blitz, Aegis, Duel & Buster and all of them are pretty good for it's time and still solid enough today. They're also more anime-accurate representation of the mechs than the stylized MGs. FM Vidar is also good. The new FM Calamity is great.

freedom Gundam isn't a GAT frame suit. It's a ZGMF one just like Justice, Providence, and their successors. GAT frame suits are the Gen1 suits (the 5 original Gundam suits: Duel, Buster, Blitz, Strike, and Aegis) and Gen 2 suits ( Raider, Calamity, and Forbidden). Akatsuki can be classified as a GAT frame too even tho its series is named ORB. It's practically a GAT frame tho but made by Orb hahaha kinda counterfeit I guess hahaha, since Akatsuki was made based on the strike rouge. and the strike rouge is ... yeah a knock off of strike Gundam made by Orb

I personally like the mg freedom 2.0 because the Shanghai freedom reminds me the rg and the rg is NOT good. So it triggered me to see the Shanghai freedom

Speaking Full Mechanics kits, how Is the Barby Lupus holding up and how Is It right out of the box? I would love to have a 1/100 scale Lupus but who knows If or when Bandai will make a MG Lupus so I'm debating on getting the Full Mechanics kit.
It's good, but the polycap from the feet are the problem of the 1/100 Lupus.

What does "ver. GCP" mean?
The term "Full Mechanics" (FM) was first use on the "No-Grade" (NG) kits from IBO-line like Barbatos, Vidar & Bael. But recently, Bandai use the FM term for the newest SEED NG 1/100 line like the Calamity Gundam. So yeah, FM is just a label for the newer NG 1/100 kits just like "RE/100" for UC line. Such labels still don't guarantee quality. You have to look at it from "case by case" basis.
@@androyus Oh, I know no-grade kits, I have some of them when I was young. So, Bandai uses "FM" for no-grade kits, poor quality kits.

@@pongki2351 GCP Freedom is the Shanghai statue which this kit represents.
Also, not all NG 1/100 kits are trash. I still have my old NG Blitz, Aegis, Duel & Buster and all of them are pretty good for it's time and still solid enough today. They're also more anime-accurate representation of the mechs than the stylized MGs. FM Vidar is also good. The new FM Calamity is great.

I have NG wing zero custom and Deathscythe hell custom. I said poor, not trash, but I'm sorry if I offended you. After I bought those 2 NG kits, I won't buy another NG kits. Nowadays I only buy RG and MG, rarely buy HG.

freedom Gundam isn't a GAT frame suit. It's a ZGMF one just like Justice, Providence, and their successors. GAT frame suits are the Gen1 suits (the 5 original Gundam suits: Duel, Buster, Blitz, Strike, and Aegis) and Gen 2 suits ( Raider, Calamity, and Forbidden). Akatsuki can be classified as a GAT frame too even tho its series is named ORB. It's practically a GAT frame tho but made by Orb hahaha kinda counterfeit I guess hahaha, since Akatsuki was made based on the strike rouge. and the strike rouge is ... yeah a knock off of strike Gundam made by Orb
