How do you get the snap ring

What kind of snap ring tool did you use? I’m having trouble with these cheap ones🤯

I used a pair of needle nose pliers and grinded the very end of the tips of them down, the pliers were better than the cheap autozone snap ring tool that breaks and comes apart.

My 2002 F150 4.6 did not want to start. I know there’s no sound from the fuel pump. I checked all fuses and relays they were all good and I checked for voltage at the fuel pump it was good so I replace the fuel pump. Now the truck starts and idles fine but as soon as I hit the gas and let go of the gas it shuts off on me. If I gently ease off the gas I sometimes can get it to not sputter but if I let go of the gas normally it does sputter out. Can this be the fuel pressure regulator?

you may have gas issues or bad injectors

I would expect it could be the fuel pressure regulator.
I'm in the middle of trying to find out why my 2000 f150 4.2 V6 won't start. I've put in two new fuel pumps, so I'm pretty sure that's not it...
I'm guessing it's the fuel pressure regulator, but we'll see. At least I hope we'll see.
I haven't been able to find a Schraeder valve on the fuel rail to test the pressure.

@@davegaetano7118 Yeah it the fuel regulator, I was chasing this vacuum leak down for a week, I blew smoke through my intake manifold I couldn't find smoke escaping no where, the only smoke I saw coming out of, is this new IAC I put on, never throw out your old OEM parts, I had to put it back on my car, she all ways want to stall out while idling, my brain kept telling me to check the fuel pressure regulator, I kept telling myself I changed that out two years ago Yup, lord and behold, when i pop off the vacuum line, gas came pouring out of that line and flooded my intake manifold which dump fuel into my cylinders heads, which I try to restart it but she said not today bud I''m to full and lazy to run, basically the engine got flooded out. I have a rip in the diaphragm, po171 an po172 Code - Fuel Trim System Too Lean (Bank 1) and 2 so when you turn your car off, that regulator fills up with fuel and enter into the vacuum line until it drain back into gas tank I know I didn't have any issue with my fuel pump or my injectors when i step on her she get up a go without feeling a misfire, only happen in idle mode the rpm sits steady on 700 rpm while misfiring, all because of a hole in the plunger stop which suppose to close at idling because the isn't under a load.

Thanks for the info, I now suspect that my problem is the same as yours.
After several days my truck magically started up again, I'm guessing because there was too much fuel in the cylinders but it finally evaporated.
The symptoms I'm still having sound a lot like yours. Problem is I can't even find the fuel pressure regulator.
Why do they make trucks like this...

    What were your fuel symptoms?

there was no fuel symptoms, however while I had done new fuel injectors I decided to also replace the regulator also on the fuel rail just to be safe but turned out it was ok.

Looks Like a dirty fuel filter causes those issues.
