I have seen this done a different way for driveways. They use a high power sprayer to "wash" the cement binding from the aggregate. With a darker concrete this exposed aggregate wash was very nice for a driveway.
Very nice work, you are professional, I like to see some gravel over the ground, two inches, after you poor the concrete on top, and you may finish with one inch gravels white and black. Good work
The stone goes on after the first float. we buy the stone specifically for exposed aggregate finishes from suppliers for this product. they come in 80-100 pound bags.
There are 2 ways of doing exposed aggregate, the stone can be added to the concrete mix or it can be broadcast over like you see here. you cannot just find the aggregate in existing concrete and create a nice finish. We use the cast method because we buy very nice specific stone for this application, we have many different blends and colors so we do not want to be buying extra stone to put in the mix. the broadcast method also make a much more uniform finish than if the stone is in the mix.
I am new to all this, never have actually done anything with cement. I am in the beginning stages of digging out a 12x12 area for a patio. We live in KY where it gets very hot and humid. Its been in the 90's already with high humidity. Started 3 days ago but have only been able to work on the area one day because of the rain and high temps. Looking to do this to my patio but I was wondering do you have to fill the entire surface with the rocks or can I use a few? What say you? Also do I have to use some kind of re barb or mesh or can it just be cement on top of the gravel?
A high pressure washer works great for sidewalks and driveways, however on a surface where people regularly wear bare feet the surface must be as perfect as possible. We hose and sponge the concrete off at the end of the placement process followed by an acid wash the following day.
Can i get the information for the exposed aggregate finish by working installation or working munual? Can you introduce the stone aggregates supplier from U.S.A?
We offer saw cut joints at an extra cost. Saw cutting is much more costly than adding a plastic expansion joint and we need to be competitive and offer all options.
we dont put the stone in the mix, the concrete company we order from takes care of everything , kind of like if you wanted to have fiber mesh, they just add it we jus pour, spray , and power wash
Having to put the stone in the mix severly limits the color options available to the end user. We offer at least 10 different stone style/ color options. the stone is brought in from different parts of the country and would be far too costly to the end user if we had to fill the truck with enough stone that we have enough on the surface to provide a good final product. I do not disagree with your method, we prefer ours because of the options it allows and the perfect product we produce.
This is not a step by step process of how to do this job. this is just an example to show most of what goes into pouring an exposed aggregate concrete deck.
Hi SSG pools, I need some advise from you, I would like to do a small area next to my shed,so I can put my 6 x 4 trailer. My question is: Is the concrete made of 3 gravel, 2 sand, 1 cement? and then on top of that when everything is smoothed throw the aggregate and level it? How deep should I make the excavation? 10- 15 cm deep? that includes for the top aggregate?. Thanks.
Y not put the bags in the concrete mixr (truck) before pouring it? Then finish it after screed n float then spray with sugar then wash off next day. Much less wrk
Do you supply the concrete company with the stone aggregate or do they just use a standard peastone? We have 12-15 different color blends of stone from different parts of the country and the world so that the customer has a lot of different color options. When the concrete company adds the stone this typically limits the color options and the chance of having gaps between stones is greater.
These guys know what they are doing, they have rubber boots if they want them and they are probably not in the concrete as much as some of the other guys on a regular basis. To answer eddy, you can get a chemical burn from cement by not wearing the correct protective gear and it can happen quickly if the right circumstances happen together.
We price our work and choose our crew sizes to get jobs done flawlessly and efficiently. We have some of the larger crews in our trades because we have found that larger crews on certain jobs equal better products. Its far less expensive to have an extra couple guys on pour day than to send a whole crew back to rip out and re-pour a deck. Its all about quality.
SSG Pools good point. One guy standing around is better than a Skelton crew fighting blown up concrete and having to make the “its good enough” call so you don’t lose the whole slab
If that is what you want to call it that is fine. If anyone does a google image search for surface in bedding and another for exposed aggregate you will find that we are correct in calling this exposed aggregate.
Because ordering it in the mix doesnt come out this good. We also offer many different color combinations in the stone which ready mix plants would not. Ordering a white pea gravel mix is not real life.
Carlzday: You sound as if you know your stuff or is this just bluff? These wonderful men in the video believe -- and show that they know what they are doing.
The aggregate is exposed by cleaning the surfaces of the stone at the end of the day followed by an acid wash the next day. This process could be used on a glass product also.
tbone knows what hes talking about....i dont know what you guys are doing....id we tried to do this down where i am we deff wouldnt be gettin paid for something like that lol
Do you mean a more difficult way to do exposed aggregate? We do it this way because it comes out the best, can offer more colors, blends and even glass beads in the mix.
This is a joke you don't do exposed aggregate like that at least not in Michigan we don't the stone is already in the concrete mix you pour the concrete out you finish the top off you let it set up and then you wash the top off simple as that. You can all also use a product called top stop after you finish the concrete you spray the top stop off so the top surface never gets hard cover it with visqueen you could come back 24 hours later and spray the top off comes up beautiful.
Hey Leo, you can do that here to. you can do that anywhere you want if you order the right mix. What you cant do is create custom color and stone blends from the readymix truck. You cant set yourself apart from all the other aggregate companies, you cant offer your high end customers something special, unique or even custom. We are different which is why our customers like us and pay us more to do so.
@@SSGPools 9 to $10 a square foot for pea gravel mix want to get fancy we can put any kind of aggregate on the top also a glowstone which glows in the dark 14 $15 a square foot.
not to much labor why make people kill themselves if you can afford have the guys you need to do the big work . I would rather have a guy standing around then lose the concrete or have a shitty job,
This looks like one hell of a team doing this job. Each is pulling his weight and making it look great.
To Gunforme: Each will need to be, since the proof can be pulled up from the privacy pooper photos and videos portraying progress
nothing better than having a bunch of guys who all know what they're doing.
They do good work together.
Fully agree. We use exactly the same system, Awsome results evry time.

Always the barrio doing the hardwork and the artwork
The work looks like it performed by some talented hispanic guy !
nice work. seems like u have good men working. thank you for the upload brother.
The stone goes on after the first float. we buy the stone specifically for exposed aggregate finishes from suppliers for this product. they come in 80-100 pound bags.
Great job, why would anyone dislike this video?
Yeah!....I was thinking the same thing....jealous arm-chair trolls I guess...they did a great job.
Good job guys keep working hard dios los bendiga
Boys got it wired...Impressive

wow, this is an example of good teamwork! And lovely look too. Thank you.
Thats a lot of work going on one time...and it all looks great
I really enjoyed your video, thank you for sharing this information.
Stone goes in after the first float, it is special stone manufatured for exposed aggregate applications.
Amazing!

After cleaning the surface at the end of the day an acid wash does clean the surfaces of the stones and leaves a high quality final product.
Poetry in motion
What is the aggregate on top? Where do I get it from.
where are Scott Sean and Bryan? I only saw Jorge, Juan, Jose, and Pedro in the whole video
Selisfam No ... just shut up
They were sitting down texting 🤣 or on smoke break
Can i get the information for the exposed aggregate finish by working installation

Thank you for this video, do you have anything on the process of exposing the aggregate? Would the process differ with a glass product?
We offer saw cut joints at an extra cost. Saw cutting is much more costly than adding a plastic expansion joint and we need to be competitive and offer all options.
U could use 3 r 4 less guys when u put the stone in the mix
what kind of stone do you put in? and whens a good time t place the stone and float it in? cant tell how green the mud is in vidio.
Nice Mexican work!
Why not order concrete with small stone in it to begin with and not have 3 guys pushing a Darby for 100 passes?
We do not use retarder as we get to it quick enough.
why do you make the expansion joint why don't you finish and go over it with a concrete saw

What's the benefit of this type of concrete
This is not a step by step process of how to do this job. this is just an example to show most of what goes into pouring an exposed aggregate concrete deck.
after leveling out, do you power wash? when do you wash?
Donde están mis botas. . . .
Ja ja ja
where are my boots. . . .
The workers need special boots ,when they work over the liquid concrete!!

probably costs more in rock I'm sure they did the coke and spray

Also, your not loading the concrete mix with excess stone. Casting puts the stone where you want it.
Did you use any fiber mesh for the exposed aggregate mix?
No just the 6x6 WWF mesh reinforcement.
The guys working in leather work boots ankle deep in concrete are lucky they haven't ended up having their feet amputated!
Simon: Why is this? It takes time for the cement to cure.
These guys know what they are doing, they have rubber boots if they want them and they are probably not in the concrete as much as some of the other guys on a regular basis. To answer eddy, you can get a chemical burn from cement by not wearing the correct protective gear and it can happen quickly if the right circumstances happen together.
Only idiots would stand in concrete with no rubber boots. Good way to get concrete poisoning
can i suggest increasing your team size from 28 to 29 people

This is "surface in bedding "; not "exposed aggregate "...
If that is what you want to call it that is fine. If anyone does a google image search for surface in bedding and another for exposed aggregate you will find that we are correct in calling this exposed aggregate.
This is the original method. Same result, the guys who are really good at exposed remember how to do it this way.
It is exposed aggregate. Ive seen this technique called "seeding". You can get better results with better stone than mix from concrete supply.
Why don't you just order a white pea gravel mix with 10% over rock?
Because ordering it in the mix doesnt come out this good. We also offer many different color combinations in the stone which ready mix plants would not. Ordering a white pea gravel mix is not real life.
It is unnecessary with our method.
Carlzday: You sound as if you know your stuff or is this just bluff? These wonderful men in the video believe -- and show that they know what they are doing.
fair enough
Viva la raza!
que le echan para que endure rapido
Rudy Osorio se llama calcio Pero en verano no se necesita no mas es para invierno o para cuando el tiempo esta frio

muy salvaje! Mucho Heramosa
Someone get green t shirt guy some proper boots 🙈
Where’s the Expose aggregate?lol
tbone knows what hes talking about....i dont know what you guys are doing....id we tried to do this down where i am we deff wouldnt be gettin paid for something like that lol
Worst way to do expose aggregate
Do you mean a more difficult way to do exposed aggregate? We do it this way because it comes out the best, can offer more colors, blends and even glass beads in the mix.
was that a six sack ,five inch slump? the mexican maffia...

Such a bad look for the company when ur worker is ankle deep in mud with regular boots on. Amateur hour!!
