    How I Automate My Periodic Notes using Obsidian (Daily, Weekly, Monthly Reviews and Planning)
    #obsidian #weeklyreview #bulletjournal
    I've implemented the practices and principles from productivity books like Getting Things Done, Make Time, and High Performance Habits into an automated life management system.
    Through periodic notes like my daily note and weekly review, pursuing my goals and staying productive has never been easier.
    I get to effectively plan, journal, and reflect on my days.
    Track my achievements and progress on projects after every week
    Stay focused on the areas that I value the most each month,
    and assess my higher-order vision and purpose during each quarter and year.
    I'll share how I achieve all of this using Obsidian, my tool of choice for automating and implementing these workflows

    Good stuff. I want to setup a Weekly habit chart that checks if I checked the habit that day and visualizes it for the week. Should be possible, but today is my first day of obsidian so a lot to learn.

      Since you have a coding background, I would recommend just using the Obsidian Tracker plugin, they have a repo for examples of their different views :)
      There is another potential solution using the Obsidian Habit tracker plugin as well
      I'm sure you can ramp up to speed super quick ;)

    Great video! Looking forward to your future videos.
    For the To-Do's dataview I'm having trouble with the file.link as "Board" line working. Do you know why and how I can fix this? Am I doing something wrong?

    • @itsjohnmavrick
      @itsjohnmavrick  Рік тому

      is there the comma on the previous line? that line should just be for the dataview details so I'm not sure why that would be the one having an error :/

    Hey John, great video! Quick question for you; how were you able to expand Dataview's width without disabling "readable line length"? For example, like at 8:00

    Great video! Are you also using obsidian for task management? If so, what do you see are the benefits over other task managers like todoist?

    • @itsjohnmavrick
      @itsjohnmavrick  Рік тому +1

      I use Todoist, which I have integrated with my daily notes and projects in Obsidian, which I'll show in my next video :)
      I choose to use Todoist because of their natural language conversion, turning things like 'eat food today p1 @label #project' into different properties of the task.
      It also makes it easy to capture on all my devices without having to wait for Obsidian to load, and I can see my tasks in Obsidian using queries when I'm on my PC

    I just bought your vault and i'm starting to tweaking it to my own taste. Thanks for your research and effort!
    Q. Have a way to start my own vault but with your templates, options, organized contents(MOCs/PARA) and etc?

    • @itsjohnmavrick
      @itsjohnmavrick  Рік тому +1

      Hi, thanks for your support :) The plugin configurations and settings may be a bit tedious to set up in a new vault, maybe you can just use the USV as your foundation, and build off of it as you find out what your personal needs are? What are your reasons for wanting to start a new vault instead?

    • @arnouthpessoa
      @arnouthpessoa Рік тому

      @@itsjohnmavrick Your vault, as a "tutorial vault", have so much information, wich is good. But switching from reading-only to creator, and starting to collect my own notes, all those information seems to clutter. Anyway, ill try to cleanup the tutorials notes and stay with the backbone. Ill report later if i was successful. Thanks

    • @itsjohnmavrick
      @itsjohnmavrick  Рік тому +1

      @@arnouthpessoa Yeah thats fair, from my perspective the only things I would delete are just the example notes i create, you can always add onto my already existing notes for things like zettelkasten and maps of content :) there shouldn't be much modification needed outside of note deletion to make the vault yours

      @@itsjohnmavrick Good evening John! I have one question. This is the best channel/social media to send?
      Anyway, why the templates to new notes created have in Links and Under Principles? Thx!

    • @itsjohnmavrick
      @itsjohnmavrick  Рік тому +1

      @@arnouthpessoa Anywhere works, in the end they all send the same notification on my phone :)
      those commands are cursor locations you can jump to by pressing (Alt+R), so instead of clicking on the locations you can just press the hotkey.
      You can learn more about the templates in the [[Template Debrief]] note :)
      I just use them so I can fill out the template using my keyboard without using the mouse, but if you're using it on your phone it may be inconvenient.

    Hey John! Say if I am going about my day and have a question or an idea/topic I want to explore, how would you add that to Obsidian?

    • @itsjohnmavrick
      @itsjohnmavrick  Рік тому

      Hi, Harry! I have workflows tocapture these inputs and ideas in my "Building a Second Brain in Obsidian" video ua-cam.com/video/-bdE_54UUA4/v-deo.html
      If it's a super quick idea, I just add it to my ## Log section of the daily note, and move/act upon it at the end of the day.
      If it's a personal thought I just want to journal and record, I run a quickadd command to create a thought note which I have prompts to flesh it out (timestamp 4:12)
      If it's an idea I want to build upon using the contents of my vault, I have a brainstorming template I can use (timestamp is 15:08)
      If you want something more lightweight and easily accessible, you can also use the quick capture tool fleetingnotes.app to make connections on the go, which then you can then automatically sync to Obsidian
      Hope this helps :)

    Hey
    on 2:06 it seems you put [[DATE#headings]] - like Gratitude & Content.
    Why is that? the brackets are not suppose to make a referees to other pages if I remember currectly
    Thanks

    • @itsjohnmavrick
      @itsjohnmavrick  Рік тому +1

      Adding the #heading part of the link links it to that specific part of the note, so since I put it in the metadata, when I view it in dataview I can hover over the link and it will show me a preview of that specific section of the note. Hope that makes sense!
