Thanks so much for posting this! That's me playing with Joe at around 3:58:55. I had heard a rumor for years that a video existed of this workshop but had never been able to track a copy down. It's especially poignant for me to see this now with the recent loss of Joe. I've never forgotten his words of encouragement, which have always meant a great deal to me. RIP Joe Diorio.
That was you?! Holy crap. I saw this video like 25 years ago when my guitar teacher Jeff Caldwell lent it to me and always wondered about you. You're a monster player.

Thank you for this. The piece at 00:18:30 is not "Falling Grace", no idea of what this is. It sounds like an improvisation based on a A minor key center.
I remember going to his office/classroom at G.I.T. .....and just sitting there watching and listening and laughing...he was so chill and funny as anything......he was like everyone's favorite uncle.....a true class act....R.I.P. Joe....
Joe was a true genius and kind at his level. Most players at his level wouldn't give you the right time. Joe had nothing to hide. I was fortunate to study with his teacher the great Professor and genius Vincent Bredice, who held a Masters Degree in Music Theory. I am a lifetime student having been inspired by their brilliance. RIP to both of these gifted beings that enriched so many musicians and others. Their inspiration is bottomless. God Bless them. RIP
Wow, I can't believe this is out there! I was at that clinic when I was 20 years old. I'll never forget it, and I can't wait to see it again. Thanks SO MUCH for posting this!
Hi Duane! It's Peter Rodriguez from FIU. Vince gave me this tape during one of our lessons. Thank YOU for hooking me up with Vince, those were the best of times!! I hope you're doing well, take care!!
@@ES175jazz Hey Peter, so great to hear from you! Thanks for posting this! You got this video from me? I don't even remember that I had this. I really need to check out the Jack Wilkins one. Did you post that?
Oh my! That is the Joe Diorio I remember! There is no similar video out there, unless it has not surfaced yet. Thank you so much for sharing. RIP Joe, thank you for proving, at least to me, once again, Life is Short!
Grande mestre. Tive o prazer de participar de um curso dele aqui no Rio de Janeiro em 1989. Um grande professor, inspirado e incansável. Ele mostrou dentre muitas outras coisas que a sala de aula pode ser um espaço de arte, de produção de sentido estético. 🙏🏾🎶🌎🎸

This is really amazing sometimes the camera doesn’t get his guitar neck and left hand would be great if there was some notes of this but it is been great to watch
Sadly I am locking my hearing attention on those beyond annoying coughs, thus, it is very hard to concentrate on his teachings. I will never understand WHY some people tend to be believe they are wanted in a place when they can't control their coughing. If you are coughing ... STAY HOME! do not attempt to ruin it for everybody by coughing amidst a presentation!
Diorio can be so beautiful But when he teaches it’s usually just histrionics that’s not beautiful at all. And he never explains anything clearly. Rest in peace Joe.
Thanks for this, a great pleasure to listen to the genius playing of Joe Diorio, so far ahead of his time and even to this day his lines are a breath of fresh air.
Thank God somebody had the forethought to film this ❤
I wasn't hip to Joe ..... What a creative player!!!!

probably early 90's
Way ahead of his time
Interesting he didn’t mention George Benson.
His use of dissonance that makes sense is unbelievable..
