people payed to see tool play. and tools gonna play no matter what. good job tool for not stopping like some bands would have done. And thats why I LOVE tool.
I just find it so amazing with this band, they are so talented and if Maynard runs out they don't miss a beat and play through the song. Tool is one in a million
Why!?.... Why did the camera move off Adam half way through the solo? It was perfect he was in the light i could see every note and every bend :( >< wahhh
Because Maynard wasn't supposed to be singing, then he screwed up and repeated the earlier part, so the camera went back to him, thinking he was gonna keep going.
Don't put "HD" in the title if it sounds like this. You're not made more technically savvy just for including that. You have to upload something in "high definition" and actually sounds like it before you can call it HD.
It wasn't just about that. It was about the wrong text. He sang the last part of the chorus instead of the first one. then he tried to switch to the right part, noticed that this sounds shitty and then he got pissed off.
@Dimes329 be it wine or music, he's an artist, and what he's done has enriched my life as well as yours. we have common ground. i'll say it again, i adopted someone else's figure of speech to illustrate that. as for the famous part, i doubt he's terribly pleased about it given what it entails, but i'm sure he's pleased that you and i and so many others have dug on what he chooses to put out there. we cool? i'm not your enemy here.
7:10 - Happy Birthday to the GROUND!!! I really hope that Maynard can hold out his voice long enough for me to see them live, but if you listen to all their live stuff you can hear his voice loosing its strength year after year
@Dimes329 i was using another person's figure of speech to illustrate a point that maynard himself made: singing is not his main pursuit, he's shifting gears to his other interests in many ways. not to say there won't be any more music coming from the man, but his wine blending is rather spectacular in my uncouth opinion. it even comes in BOTTLES! without handles! :B
Honestly... I think they did good. Maynard just had "whatever" or issues at that one part of the song, threw his mic, and kinda just took off. The rest of the band did amazing, though. I'm glad that they didn't stop too, because people still wanted to hear the song.
@intrepgun maynard's voice is not as blown as most think. check out a video of APC performing "The Outsider" at Edgefest. he can still hit notes that he wrote years ago, so dont give up on him yet :\
@intrepgun let's not get carried away here. I've had the wine and yea it's good. But with what Tool and APC have already accomplished it's hard to say he's here for the wine. And yea I know how much time and everything he puts into the land in arizona.
He missed a note, doesn't happen to him much he couldn't recover so he gave up. this is the most relevant band still making music. a more mature maynard will handle it better next time. Fantastic band, hasn't had a bad album yet.
Dude the public is cheering him by singing "This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality, embrace this moment, remember: feeling eternal, all this pain is illusion!" Made me drop a tear, there is too much love there
we all have our bad days. Even the man himself is allowed a train wreck or 2 on stage. they have had some pretty good ones, adam jones is the band owner and he's had some doozies. but the professionalism by these guys is what stands out here, to just keep the show going without skipping a beat is dedication to the craft. Best band of all time
i dont really blame maynard for getting mad and storming off stage for a minute. from what i understand is that tool views the music they make as art, and if an artist was showing some of their art on display and it had somehow had an imperfection, the artist would be livid.
Maynard is a human being and he makes mistakes. And art is inspired 90% by mistakes, things that happen almost randomly. He probably just got frustrated that he couldn't keep on character.
Just clear everything...he did not forget the lyrics...his voice clearly cracks, and if you noticed when he sing's "This body holding me, he stumbles and strangles (shaking) the mic, but he also hits the note with a vibrato, he needed a break, everybody gets pissed off and pulls fits because it builds up to a point where u gotta let it out, just saying, he cracked on 4 songs and was missing notes galore in stinkfist, he's cracked many times and only did this once by the way ;) Tool fuckin owns!
Difficult pitch to hit even when your voice is well rested. I can't imagine how hard it is when you've been touring for awhile and your throat is raw. He has one of the best live voices I've ever heard, though. So many artists only sound good in the studio.
07:08 maynard.... the ultimate drama queen!! however, if he hadn't thrown his little temper tantrum, we probably wouldn't have gotten this awesome footage of the rest of the band.... 08:20 danny is amazing!!
I like how he didnt start singing when he came back on stage but you can kinda hear the crowd singing the words which made the song sound really cool and like they were helping him out
@DahPurpleHippo the same thing happened when I saw tool in 2006. Maynard was hit with a bottle, and walked off stage. The rest of the band continued the song and went onto the next and towards the end maynard finally came back. It was disappointing that it happened, but it was better than the whole band walking off stage and the show ending. True professionals.
Easily the best part of the this clip -- Danny Carey just laying it down...cruising right along with his out-of-this-world drumming -- thanks for being smart enough to stay on Danny during those incredible fills & crash cymbal work -- jaw-dropping! Second best part of the clip: Maynard obliterating that microphone...
i didnt embrace tool because maynard sings well on stage. it's the words, the rhythm, and the inevitable magic of their presence. in the darkest corners of my boring stagnant mind, they creep up, and in a violent weird way, they remind me of truths. and then im ok again...
Best video of parabola ever. Maynard bails and let the music do the talking and you kept the camera on Danny Carey through all the best parts. Bravo sir
I remember seeing Bob Mould once playing a solo show and he had a new 12-string that just would not stay in tune no matter what he did. He finally threw it on the floor and walked off the stage. Mistakes and technical glitches are frustrating, and sometimes can bring out the passion.
A damn good mysterious performance of Parabola… Maynard don’t feel it for a moment, drops the mic,Danny takes over, runs the freight train… Maynard still in the shadows.. not feelin it… then crowd takes it… can hear so vague on my headphones that forces you to feel not hear ,the chant starting… this body holdiniing me..!!!reminds me of myy own mortality… things heat up… Danny still runnin it… embrace this moment, remember… crowd opens its third eye… WE ARE ETERNAL ALL THIS PAIN IS AN ILLUSION 🤫 unfathomable this one…
Singing high notes that include the formant when you say the letter "e" is the hardest. It's a hard song to sing as well. Musicians go through the same thing every day. All good.
He had to calmly recollect himself. Hitting a puberty note in front of thousands of people while only wearing a speedo is something on MJK can do and get away with it. Hell, the boy used to wear sweat pants on stage. He says "fuck it".
@hehfilms He was having a bad night and the song is beautiful, he did not want to ruin it. I enjoyed the instrumental. This is a rare occasion to hear this instrumental from the band.
Recap : Maynards voice cracks, throws him off, misses the next line of lyrics, quits and Danny goes into hyperdrive and saves Parabola.
Danny is superman.
That transcendental moment when Parabol melts into Parabola.
you mean explodes into lol
Im proud to know that the singer can just walk off stage and everyone else will keep playing like bosses. I give Tool massive props for this
people payed to see tool play. and tools gonna play no matter what. good job tool for not stopping like some bands would have done. And thats why I LOVE tool.

Wwwwhhhyyyyyy 😄😍
Gibus Mann 🤣
Poor guy. Fahk! Put the wind down, Maynard lmaoooo!
Thats live baby! The crowd is lucky to have an instrumental Parabola version LIVE!
very rare ending. maynard is not pleased with himself as he walks out dropping the mic
He slammed that shit.
Dropped. Lol he fucking spiked it.
Wdym bro he threw that shit to the depths below 😂
I sing Tool songs every day as part of my training and I too throw my mic trying to sing Maynard songs, so I don't blame this guy.
If you listen carefully att 09:20 you can hear the audience trying to help Maynard out by singing the lyrics.
lol it was actually pretty perfect up to that point.
It's ok danny carey can pick up the slack.
I guess I'm the only one who thinks this is a good instrumental
Nope! You're not its fantastic.
reminding you that you are not alone
it is one of my favorite Instruments of Tools
Definitely not. this is just a shitty recording.
Nice bumm
@Zee96969696 Songs that he cracked on: Schism, Parabola, Reflection. Aenema was sang OK, but this night wasn't his night..

when I saw tool in 2007, it wasn't Maynards night either. He hit the jackpot with the musicians in the band.
luv this song !!!
wait that was 2002? wow ok. someone used it as an example for maynard getting old

You could tell Maynard was pissed at himself. That's a hard fucking song to sing for anyone. This is still one of their best songs they've ever done!
Honestly... I think they did good. Maynard just had "whatever" or issues at that one part of the song, threw his mic, and kinda just took off. The rest of the band did amazing, though. I'm glad that they didn't stop too, because people still wanted to hear the song.
I think he was upset because he couldn’t hit the A4 note on “body” this body holidin’ “Me”
@intrepgun maynard's voice is not as blown as most think. check out a video of APC performing "The Outsider" at Edgefest. he can still hit notes that he wrote years ago, so dont give up on him yet :\
Is it just me or is the crowd singing every part after Maynard gets pissed?
@intrepgun let's not get carried away here. I've had the wine and yea it's good. But with what Tool and APC have already accomplished it's hard to say he's here for the wine. And yea I know how much time and everything he puts into the land in arizona.
One does not simply continue to make noise when Tool plays
@theboldshadow Nope, they played Aenema. Not Parabola (Again).
@intrepgun And yea it does, I have a couple bottles of Judith. No handles!
For a moment the unit broke. Then the remaining pieces fused together and shone stronger, kind of a rearranging fractal. Art. Tool.
Was kinda thinking in the begining, that Danny was looking like a shiny Titan or something.....that dood is ripped!
@kingjr180002 Because he can. He's Maynard James Keenan.
Bless!
@Zee96969696 Nothing, they played Ænema right after it.
@theboldshadow There's no way they would play parabola again
Well...he's human after all, theres nothing to be ashamed...all this pain is an illusion
P.D.: It's true that they never play parabola since this?
That's a rare MJK fuckup
@Taters153 Maynard did.
mic couldnt handle maynard's epicness
danny carey's arms O__O
Despite clinical studies this is definitive proof that maynard is in fact a human
Yea. We figured that out 15 years ago. What about Danny?
Bawhahahahahahahahahaha
@@RoryRamshotDanny is yet to be determined. Further research is needed to decide whether or not Daniel Carey is or is not in an exterrestrial being.

I love how the band keeps going after a member of the band is unable to finish. Shows their devotion to the song and to the fans.
DeezNuts 2024 best live band

he was sick
yes he was, 2 major tours with 2 different bands will make anyone sick, even a train wreck is beautiful in its own way :)
No wonder he sounds so different in 2002 than 1998-9
He said he was sick and that's why he messed up at the high parts. He's human just like anyone else.
i dont really blame maynard for getting mad and storming off stage for a minute. from what i understand is that tool views the music they make as art, and if an artist was showing some of their art on display and it had somehow had an imperfection, the artist would be livid.
brandon wichers I agree you’re putting your emotion out for the world to see.
i agree 100%. unlucky for the people, to witness an off day, but there can't be any valid argument because of expectations
it's ironic considering the lyrics "this body" and then his body fails him :P
Maynard is a human being and he makes mistakes. And art is inspired 90% by mistakes, things that happen almost randomly. He probably just got frustrated that he couldn't keep on character.

I like this, we all know he ain't lip synching. Maynard is human just like the rest of us, it's amazing he can sing like this at all
I love that they kept right on playing while he had a little fit. Can't be perfect all the time!
to be fair, singing like that takes its toll. i dont blame him.
Danny carey is ripped I gotta start working out if I wanna play tool songs :///
He also plays basketball
He was jacked!
Man, ive seen him sing Rosetta Stoned live. and this is the song he misses lines on? lol I love this band
He missed a note and couldn’t hit them since he was sick from constant touring of two bands and stormed off stage
At least I can focus on Danny's drumming now.
What a voice. He sounds so good live, even with his fuck up. His voice is so mesmerizing.
You go Maynard. Strut off that stage in style after showing that mic who's boss for fucking up your singing.
They played the song again right after this and Maynard sang it perfectly, there's a video of it dated the same night on here
No way!!! He hit the A4 on “body”?
Guys he had to make a mistake. If he sung the whole song perfectly, he would of wiped out the human race. Thank You Maynard.
