Awesome match, both were throwing Hail Marys. I love the aggressiveness from Bull. Cenzo is so damn tough, these guys are very evenly matched and I hope we can see this matchup a couple more times this year. Absolute toss up

I'm so pumped Iowa's back! I was just doing some math and Iowa's starting line up is 108-10 as of right now....that's incredible! I can't wait for Big Tens and the nattys...this team reminds me ALOT of the lates 90s/96-97 team, except the current team almost has tow "murderous rows" one a the lightweights and middleweights...not to mention Tony Cassiopi who is absolutely killing it right now!

Unfortunately PennState had 4 National Champions. And it only gets worse for Iowa. Penn State WILL NOT lose to Iowa next year. Penn State is bigger, stronger and has a better Gas tank than Iowa. (Excluding Lee. He is one of five starters from Pa. This is why Iowa is so good. ) Now that the Freshman at Penn State know they are better than the 25 year olds at Iowa the tide will turn in favor of the lions. Best of luck. Iowa will need it.

I feel like even though he has his body lock that’s an escape and a take down at the end of the second. He’s clearly out on his feet then takes him down.

Been a hot second since Ive dealt with those, but IIRC its the positioning of the hands - The wrist need to be behind (mostly) the head/neck. If they're parallel/on the neck, its a choke
1:25 What does the announcer mean when he says Marinelli is a two time all-American? What is all-American? Is that a runner-up for the NCAA championship?
All-American status is achieved by finishing in the top 8 at the NCAA tournament.

This was a case of Marinelli trying to do too much for his team and losing sight of rule #1 - win the match.
Nah this is what has happened every time they met. It’s slow for a little, then marinelli gets bored/frustrated and goes upper body cuz he’s the bull. Crazy thing is Joseph’s the better technical wrestler but he’s like if you wanna get tossed I’ll give you a full send. This time it worked out for Joseph
That's not true at all. While I agree that going upper body is too much of a risk for a guy that will not lose a match by bonus points under normal circumstances, Joseph has many more tools in his locker than Marinelli; it just happens that Joseph is one of a few top wrestlers that goes for the gamble involved with upper body. In other words, Marinelli is in need of a big move more than Joseph. Still, he had enough of a chance to win and shouldn't have gone for that unless he was desperate.
Cenzo has obviously been prepping for the upper body collisions, but he's being silly. Why try to overpower a guy that is stronger than you? I know he won the battle this time, but if you are the better technical wrestler, why take a 50/50 chance?

He didn't take a 50/50. He backed out of it multiple times. He baited him later and Marinelli walked right into it.
Great job, Cenzo!!! Way to go, kid. He's got this. Very impressive win. He did what needed to be done in a huge pressure situation. Too bad the win didn't happen for PSU. It was a tough one. Couple rough matches for PSU, but theres bigger and better goals still ahead to be achieved.
i feel like marinelli was forcing the collar tie and the clinches too much. yet again he probably didnt wanna get called for stalling.
Man if Cassar is able to make it back for nationals penn st should lock down another championship but as it stands now shakur and Nevilles are a detriment.
Nevills is definitely not a detriment without Caesar. He’s light for the weight and young, but he was facing a 5 seed? Shak I agree though
Shakur hasn't looked capable of even taking down a top ten guy, but he'll be able to beat half of the guys at 197lbs. Penn State should be worried about the holes at 125lbs, 149, and possibly 157lbs. A healthy Penn St has RBY--though, I'm still unsure about him--Lee, Joseph, Hall, and Cassar as title contenders. If Penn St don't get three individual titles out of that group, it'd be a disappointment. With Iowa, Lee, DeSanto, Marinelli, and Kemerer are all title contenders. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Lee is the only one that wins a title. Iowa have too many guys that are good enough to beat the best, but also capable of losing to an opponent ranked 20th.

@Bob Bigboy You actually want to use "at most" instead of "at least." They can only meet at Big 10s and at the NCAAs. Furthermore, they will most likely be in opposite bracket at both tournaments, meaning they can only meet in the final.

I don't have a dog in the fight here, but I wrestled from 2nd grade through. Why was that 1/4 Nelson called dangerous? He had a arm in.
Ref missed three( 3!) Psu pins this match:rby, lee, joesph. And iowa still complains about the reffing.
Stall calls were absurd too. The below the waist on RBY, Cenzo got hit once like 10 seconds after taking a shot, and Nevills with stay puff on top of him

Lol at the beginning Alex got so many chances to do a low single on Vincenzo because he showed his lead leg a million times.
Shooting low is really hard with a full leg sleeve like that. I tore my mcl and patellar tendon and had to wear that for 2 seasons and it super difficult to shoot on that leg

Iowa is always the tougher one, always #1, when iowa recruits you and you put on that singlet you hit god status, it's always been that way and wont change.

If you tried wrestling you wouldn’t be making fun of it. Wrestling is one of the hardest sports on the planet and most exhausting. Also wrestling is responsible for the most champions in the UFC. Wrestling is a very dominant and effective way to fight.
