I'm surprised at the negative comments, here, from narrow minded "musicians." What keeps art music alive is artists continuing breathing new life into it. It's purists (like those negative commenters below) who kill music and then wonder why professional orchestras are going belly up. Irrespective of tempo and style, I 'feel' "Oblivion" from these two artists, which is obviously what Piazzolla intended. Sol and your accompanist(?): Thanks for sharing your gifts and exquisite interpretation!!
Sol came once to our masterclasses that were given by David Geringas a few years ago. What a delightful personality and outstanding musician. Hope to meet her again.
Sol Gabetta is such a good interpreter in this piece. Playing with her soul.

She seems so into it and so full of enthusiasm and energy that she makes me feel like running, grabbing my violin and studying at this very minute.

@@bosneageorge Don't think it's wrong to say so, one can be in love with a person, an object or a piece of art. Of course the nature of that love differs from type to type, instance to instance. But I would agree that, given all those possibilities of being in love with something, 'literally' is superflous in such a statement.

What an amazing piece of music. It brought back many memories.
I'm argentinian (just like Sol Gabetta), and I want to say: coming from a "tango family", and been a musician myself, I can ensure you that she plays it perfectly.

C'est très bien joué ; mais le tempo est bien trop rapide et on ne sent pas toute la sensibilité qui doit se dégager d'un tel morceau. On a l'impression que vous avez un rendez-vous urgent.

Pero che, tampoco era para tanto. Igual me pareció divertido tu comentario, nunca me había pasado que me puteen así porque sí. No entiendo cómo hacés para vivir odiando a nadie, como yo. Si querés seguir putéandome y te resulta reconfortante hacelo porque la verdad es que no me afecta en lo más mínimo, y si tenés algo interesante para compartir también.
I don't like the piano arrangement
I'm a huge fan of Piazzolla, especially this tune. This rendition is just way way too fast to allow the pondering feeling, the love lost, the melancholy to shine through! The cellist is wonderful, but the pianist sounds like she's practically sight-reading for the first time... technically fine, but no feelings. Either way, the tempo is simply too fast for this piece.

I am afraid annamusician might be right , altough i dont like the way she comments , i also think that the character of this piece is different , i dont feel tango when i listen to this , i dont feel piazzolla either , the pianist doesnt help at all , tango needs another expression i think, nobody doubts she is a woderful cellist anyway , but i m not a fan of this interpretation.

She is the closest cellist to Jacqueline du Pre, she plays with the same intensity and her technique is just wonderful! The music world has been waiting for her, all these years! Welcome, Sol, it was worth the wait.

Bien, pero no hay como la versión original con el bandoneón con muchas más appogiature. Hay una con oboe que es fantástica. Aquí la pianista no siente el tango clásico de Piazzola.

This composition is not a tango. It was written for a film based in "Richard III" by Pirandello.
Amazed at how she keeps her hair out of her playing
I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't and is just used to it; life's hard for cellists who have long hair.
