You should do Q&A videos quarterly! I enjoyed learning what other Photographers are thinking about. Looking forward to the beginner teaching videos! I hope you enjoy the new studio.
You really inspire me to pick up the camera, take photos and record videos, thank you for that. I have a lot of ideas for short films that I want to shoot with my friends at university. I like the color style in your photos and videos.
To the idea of using a zoom lens…I am a full frame Sony shooter, (A7IV A7C), and my longest prime is the tiny, 90mm, Sigma, f2.8, DG DN, engineering masterpiece. Still for last weekends air and water show in Chicago I decided to eschew all that full frame goodness and rented the 1in sensor, Sony, 25x zoom, RX10 IV for the weekend. The 480mm max zoom reach worked good for the occasion. I got some great shots! That was a nice camera with an impressive zoom range, but I don’t need that kind of zoom 99% of the time. So renting, not buying, is a great option for me. If I ever considered owning a zoom I’d go with a smaller micro 4/3rds camera with a comparatively smaller micro 4/3rds lens.
Loved the "make some gear videos to help fund the Euro trip" haha. Well if you end up doing it, a Europe subscribers street photo walk would be a fun idea, no pressure. UK fan here, who plans to visit Norway too soon 🫡
Thanks for the video an all the effort you put into your work ❤ Little sidenote: i wouldn't bring a zoom lens to the beach, unless it's an internal zoom. 🙌🏻
Hi Dylan, Great videos. With your love of 35mm primes, what are your thoughts on the Sony Zeiss 35mm F2.8? Given that it has a smaller overall size than even the f1.8, one might think this would compliment the A7C much better? Or is the lens too old now? Thanks!
The Sony 24-50 is 3.6" long while the 20-70 is 3.9". IMO the extra 4mm on the wide end alone is worth the small length difference even on a A7C size body. I shoot the 20-70mm on my A7C ii along with a 35mm prime.
Hey Dylan, how are you editing on DaVinci Resolve free version if you shoot in 10-bit 4:2:2? Last time I checked, DaVinci Resolve doesn't allow you to edit in 10-bit 4:2:2.
Years ago, following WW2 and the intense bombing of Tokyo, Japan, rose some great companies. One is Nikon. Like other optical companies in Japan, they began to imitate the old film-based Leica. Only Japan built better than Leica cameras and lenses. Leica was dethroned and is still just a Coach bag on a girl's arm, a thing to dangle to show how impressive they are. The Nikon F and F2 finished off Leica. Leica was not the best but just old. Today, we have cameras that are like cars, made of many parts that come from different companies made all over the world. Inside you Leica you may find a Sony sensor. Leica is just a status symbol and that will cause you to fall as a photographer.
