Oh man this is where my passion for cars really started up. I still have a collection of hotwheels and matchbox cars in a big plastic tub. Good memories
YES!!! Totally agree... keep posting comments for Donut to do Evolution of the Corvette in hopes it will become a reality... there is so much content for their highlite notes, it would be epic !
Missed some milestones: IIRC Ed Roth's Beatnik Bandit was the first IRL non-production car to get licensed by Hot Wheels (1960?), and the Red Baron (0:24) was the first Hot Wheels car to inspire an IRL show-car build (by Chuck Miller, whose Hot Wheels-inspired 'Zingers' series of show-cars is also worth mentioning/looking up). But cool to note the links between hot wheels and the IRL car scene. A similiar video on Monogram models (esp their relationship with Roth) would be cool, too.
Hot Wheels are truly amazing!! Not just as a toys and diecast, but also an investment and also create culture. For me, Hot Wheels is a pleasure and a canvas for expression.
Best hotwheels related video ever, love all the transitions, and especially love the loop scene where the scene itself rotates.. Man I'm in love with this video..
I was born in 97, so of course a ton of 90s-2000s cars, but most importantly a World Race Complete Set not missing anyTHING. A bunch of other rare $#!7. I just ordered the Assouline book, too. It will look nice. And when I take my 68 Pontiac Le Mans, 2 dr hardtop, 400 4 barrel to the car shows, I can prop up my hotwheels stuff and be like "This is the $#!7 I grew up with and because of this OBSESSION, I prosper, muthafukka!" HOTWHEELS FOR LIFE.
@@humakhan80 "drive to survive" *cut to the scene where the drones grab Kadeem's car and they fall down* I never realized this, but Kadeem probably fell on the tracks because the last recording from his car shows a track. That's how he survived
Nice vid Donut! I love cars so much, then I become a Hotwheels collector on 2011 until today. They made tons of cars which I know and love. Over the years, I starting to get to know other cars too, like muscle cars which Hotwheels produced. Slowly, I'm loving miniature cars and the real car itself 😊 I have 300+ HW Ferraris, 100+ Lamborghinis, 100+ Porsches, mixtures of JDM (Nissan, Mitsubishi, Honda etc) about 300+ in my collection.
I still have my old hotwheels collection I had as a kid.. used to get these for my birthday or just for something special that happened, Absolutely loved em
Funny enough, I was watching a Hot Wheels Custom video just now lol. It's soo cool seeing how Hot Wheels has evolved over time and seeing how the styling of the toy cars themselves changed over time. Kinda sucked you guys didn't include the Highway 35 World Race series cars and the Acceleracers series of cars. They were pretty awesome. I still have a couple of my most loved Hot Wheels cars from when I was young. One of them being the Super Tsunami casting, the Supra and Eagle Talon/Mitsubishi hybrid/fusion import casting. It's sitting all nice and restomodded now near my TV.
FANTASTIC! I added this to a playlist of diecast vids I go back and watch again. I am searching your vids now to see if you've produced a Matchbox version. I liked your editing on this video(the freeze thaw of the color changers, and the frosty bottle etc) and the playback speed did not bug me one bit, as a matter of fact imo the only way to improve would be to make the video about a minute or two longer and add even more models to look at. Great work.
I have personally handled all these exact cars. Unfortunately last year I had to stop working in the Mattel archives due to a non work related injury, but it was so fun in there. Hot Wheels were my favorite.
Been collecting Hot Wheels as a teenager. I recently bought a couple of Lambos from the local store the other day :) My favorite car that i own is the Toyota Supra
They don't make them the way they used to, in terms of features. Even if I wasn't around at that time. My brother has the skyline and the P1 (orange version)
I loved the video, they paid a lot of attention to the classic models, but missed out on some great series from the 00's, like the special rubbered/realistic collector-exclusive models, and the whole Acceleracers series.
Oh man, memories. I had the color changing line when released in the late 80s, you could half dip them in cold/hot water and a get unique color pallette - loved 'em.
Still remember fatbax series was not well loved with many hothweels collectors cause it was super odd! Though you also have to remember the time when hotwheels had those magetic trucks which were quite popular with a lot of kids during the early 2000s! Love the video guys :)
hot wheels is the reason i'm a car enthusiast right now
You're not alone

I never knew Hot Wheels was so Chevy heavy on their cars
Curtis Campbell it’s for the better!
Curtis Campbell they aren't. Donut just featured more Chevy Hot Wheels.

TheCanadianBubba the edits are so clean and when they include the roaring of the engine makes a true car person go bananas
Wanted them back so much!

Hot wheels- one of the best things to step on while trying to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night
Just hope it doesn´t procreate with a Lego piece, imagine their offsipring
According to James may the worst thing you can step on in the middle of the night is a land mine.
I can see his point...
Maybe the landmine is filled with hw-lego hybrids instead of sharpnel
SamtheCat Don't know what "sharpnel" is but if it's anything like "shrapnel " is, it's freaking awful! ;^ )
Chirs, yeah, sorry, English is not my first language, so I misspell a lot of words, and in my head it was like "well, they are sharp, so sharpnel"
Epic edit Donut Media, and I'm loving that brand new yellow Dodge Demon!

Glad this series"came back". Never understood why it was ditched in the first place.

Thats true, they missed out on some great model series from the 00's, and included models like Carbonator... What the hell?!
Slingshot, Deora II, 70 Road Runner could have been mentioned. 1970 plymouth road runner came out in the 70s, too as a hw
