  • You can't visit New Orleans and NOT get a po' boy sandwich. (Also called a poor boy sandwich). So while Connor and I were there over the holidays, we went in search of the best...and lucky for us, YOU ALL had our backs. You left lots of comments on my Facebook and Instagram about where to go/what to eat....and you directed us to Parkway Bakery & Tavern. I couldn't be happier that you did :) Watch the video to see our adventures in getting that glorious po' boy experience in NOLA.
I hope you all had wonderful holidays. Happy 2017! #keepitquirky! :)

    The sauce is remoulade maybe?

Growing up in NOLA I’ve found that almost every place that serves poboys all have the same bread and dress it the same way lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and pickles (hot sauce mixed with ketchup for that lagniappe) the bread comes from Leidenheimers bakery on the corner of Simon Bolivar and MLK. Most places fry shrimp and oysters with the same zatarans style fish fry so it’s pretty hard to fuck up a seafood poboy. But as far as roast beef there’s only a handful of places that cook it just right. Parkway is “Ok” I’ve found the RB to be a bit dry and chewy, Tracyes is good, Parasol’s is good. However my favorite is Russell Short Stop in Metairie and Bears @ Genaro’s on Metairie Rd.

Less of a 'search', more of a 'here is the best' with no mention of other good places. I live in New Orleans, my whole life... some inaccuracies. Root beer - subjective. Biking from the quarter to parkway, good luck! Decent video tho, good place, the right 2 poboys also.

A parkway po boy with a Barq's to wash it down. That takes me back to my New Orleans days. :)

No such thing as the best po boy in New Orleans. Yes Parkway makes good po boy but so does Domelise's in Uptown as do hundreds of other places all over New Orleans' many neighborhoods. Another thing Shrimp and Oyster po boys are popular but Roast Beef is probably the most traditional.

You don't know what you're talking about. They started during the Streetcar strike in the 1920's in New Orleans. Mississippi bakers wouldn't know french bread from French dressing.

My family is from New Orleans, so we have tried many Po Boys over the years at various places, and I'll tell you, the best ones are from a little gas station/ food mart called Danny and Clydes! We always get one when there!
