Speaking about food, that's not true that italians are not opened to others cuisine. The point is that italian traditions are absolutely huge, so, as a umbrian native, i like the roman, the tuscanian, the emiliana, but... I don't know all regional food... so for me piemontese food or pugliese food are a new one... like thai, japanese or vietmanese could be for a canadian.

Hi Katie, Italian Canadian living in Montreal. Welcome to Canada. I too lived in England and Texas before moving back to Montreal in 2011. Lots of similarities to England, of course. Don’ t be scared about the snow or winter. We receive a lot less snow and severe weather than are American cousins leaving in the midwest. A lot less. Inbrance the snow. As for the spring, one day it is 5 Celsius, the other, 20 Celsius. That’s the way it is here. No spring to speak of really. And we have two extremes in weather, from minus 35 to plus 40 in the summer. Enjoy!

Hi Katie, quite baffled by what chesterfield means in Canadian English.
I'm a Nickelback fan - yeah, one of the most hated rock bands in the world - and there's a song named Good Times Gone that starts like this:
    "Lost it on the chesterfield
Or maybe on a gambling wheel"
I was wondering for years. Then I got the answer. From you.
Without you I'd probably be lost.

I guess "serviett" comes from French, doesn't it? In Napoletano here in Italy we say "sarviett" (or at least grandmas do lol) to call a napkin. French language has influenced Italian and Napoletano quite a lot, so that's a cool connection imo

Some of these are true, but some of these are true of Toronto. It's the most multi -cultural city in the world (not just in Canada). Small town Canada doesn't have the same selection. As for Canadian winters, come out to Vancouver. Bring a raincoat, not a toque. PS if you say bathroom, noone will even blink. PS doctors aren't private; they're paid by the provincial health authority. And if you can't get US basketball, you just have the wrong cable package.
