    I'm so saddened every time I see the old temple of St Elias as it once was.....before the fire. God bless, comfort and strengthen the community-parish of St Elias in Brampton.

      Na Igreja Universal (Católica), existem as igrejas que a compõe, com ritos e leis diferentes. O que nos une é o vínculo da Caridade, temos a mesma Fé e a mesma Doutrina. Até porque "Rito" significa "caminho" para se chegar ao mesmo destino.
      No nosso caso, nós integramos a igreja Latina. No caso deles, é a igreja grega-ucraniana.
      Lembrando que a Igreja de Cristo é UNA, INDIVISÍVEL e ROMANA.

      In the Byzantine Rite, the entrance of the bishop and his vesting is part of the Liturgy. With each vestment donned, a short prayer is uttered.
      The cleric with the red embroidered stole worn around his torso and over his shoulder is an archdeacon who attends to the bishop. The other cleric wearing a golden stole over his shoulder is a deacon, and the clerics wearing narrower stoles in an X across their chests are subdeacons.
      The cleric in the black outer cassock with the red hat is a priest. The red coloured hat is an ecclesiastical award from the bishop. He was either not yet vested, or he hadn't vested because he would not be concelebrating the Liturgy and would sit amongst the people.

      The Ucranian Church became in communion with the Pope in Rome a few year ago, joining other communities like the coptics as catholics. Catholic is the doctrine and the unitary Church and Ucranian Greek is the rite and tradition. In Roman Catholic, Roman is the rite and tradition, Catholic the doctrine and unitary Church.

      I believe is just preparation for celebration or divine liturgy. When it's a bishop this is quite important and complex. I might be wrong.

      Wrong! The true Orthodox always from the Apostles on rallied round Peter and all his successors. There's not a single thing taught wrong in all the Catholic catechisms. The Lord will judge your wicked tongue.

      They’re both, in a way, yet ultimately actually neither, except perhaps the second one. They are Eastern Catholic, Ukrainian Greek-Catholic, practicers of the Byzantine Rite, in Full Communion with the Holy See of Rome. We often consider ourselves Eastern Orthodox in Communion with Rome, since that is what we are.

    Umm. The Orthodox join the Catholic? Under what authority? An infallable Pope? NO thanks. Jesus is still our Lord in heaven and on earth.
    The dessing of the Bishops I disagree with, wether in Orthodoxy or Catholics. The Bishop is supposed to serve not be served like a King.

But it was not the custom of the churches in the rest of the world . . . as they observed the practice which, from apostolic tradition, has prevailed to the present time, of terminating the fast [of Lent] on no other day than on that of the resurrection of the Savior [Sunday]. Synods and assemblies of bishops were held on this account, and all, with one consent, through mutual correspondence drew up an ecclesiastical decree that the mystery of the resurrection of the Lord should be celebrated on no other but the Lord’s day and that we should observe the close of the paschal fast on this day only. . . .       Cyprian of Carthage
      "The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says, ‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. And to you I will give the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever things you bind on earth shall be bound also in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth, they shall be loosed also in heaven’ [Matt. 16:18-19]). ... On him [Peter] he builds the Church, and to him he gives the command to feed the sheep [John 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. Indeed, the others were also what Peter was [i.e., apostles], but a primacy is given to Peter, whereby it is made clear that there is but one Church and one chair. So too, all [the apostles] are shepherds, and the flock is shown to be one, fed by all the apostles in single-minded accord. If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith?       Pope Julius I
      "[The] judgment [concerning Athanasius] ought to have been made, not as it was, but according to the ecclesiastical canon. It behooved all of you to write us so that the justice of it might be seen as emanating from all. ... Are you ignorant that the custom has been to write first to us and then for a just decision to be passed from this place [Rome]? If, then, any such suspicion rested upon the bishop there [Athanasius of Alexandria], notice of it ought to have been written to the church here. But now, after having done as they pleased, they want to obtain our concurrence, although we never condemned him. Not thus are the constitutions of Paul, not thus the traditions of the Fathers.       Council of Sardica
      "[I]f any bishop loses the judgment in some case [decided by his fellow bishops] and still believes that he has not a bad but a good case, in order that the case may be judged anew . . . let us honor the memory of the apostle Peter by having those who have given the judgment write to Julius, Bishop of Rome, so that if it seem proper he may himself send arbiters and the judgment may be made again by the bishops of a neighboring province" (canon 3 [A.D. 342]).

And he wanted his gifts to flow into the entire body from Peter himself, as if from the head, in such a way that anyone who had dared to separate himself from the solidarity of Peter would realize that he was himself no longer a sharer in the divine mystery. . . .       "We exhort you in every respect, honorable brother, to heed obediently what has been written by the most blessed pope of the city of Rome, for blessed Peter, who lives and presides in his own see, provides the truth of faith to those who seek it. For we, by reason of our pursuit of peace and faith, cannot try cases on the faith without the consent of the bishop of Rome" (Letters 25:2 [A.D. 449]).
      Council of Chalcedon
      "Bishop Paschasinus, guardian of the Apostolic See, stood in the midst [of the Council Fathers] and said, ‘We received directions at the hands of the most blessed and apostolic bishop of the Roman city [Pope Leo I], who is the head of all the churches, which directions say that Dioscorus is not to be allowed to sit in the [present] assembly, but that if he should attempt to take his seat, he is to be cast out.       Without fail, every Uniate video has comments from angry Eastern "Orthodox" with an ax to grind. It's the EO's that are the heretics. You cling with all your might to the "first among equals" nonsense, which is totally unscriptural. Jesus didn't give the keys to the kingdom of heaven to Phillip, didn't declare Andrew the Rock, and didn't pray for Bartholomew that Bartholomew's Faith would fail not. Jesus didn't tell John to strengthen and confirm his brethren, and Jesus didn't tell James to feed and tend the sheep. It wasn't Matthew who spoke at the Council of Jerusalem, causing all to fall silent and definitively settling the issue of great controversy forever. Eastern "Orthodoxy" is dead wrong.

      I also want to emphasize that if Rome joined back into the Church, we would more than delighted to place the Bishop of Rome as first-among-equals!! Was the it the Pope who dictated the Nicene Creed? No, it was the whole Church! The leader of the Church is Christ. Also the RCC uses unleavened bread in the Eucharist like the jews which was never the case in the ancient church, and the Filioque unbalances the Trinity. Rome is in demonic error!

      You are absolutely correct on all points. However, the Vatican II church is not the true Catholic Church. We are in the Great Apostasy, and we are witnessing antipopes in Rome. This false bride, this false church, is the Whore of Babylon described in Scripture. The real Catholic Church resides in a remnant of believers. Check out www.vaticancatholic.com

      Thank you for the link. I actually have always admired the Western rites more in their style and I have Catholic family and acquaintances who are Sedevacantists and such. Even if I do not change my mind, know that I consider traditionalist Catholics my closest Christian brothers and these days we can not afford to be so polemic with each other as Christianity itself is broken down and deformed by insidious forces from all sides, from the media to Western culture. I apologize if I offended you before. I hope and pray one day the Schism is mended regardless and Christianity can unite again.
