      You asked before about how these things are sold. Basically most of the savoury things would be in the crisps sections. The difference is simple. Crisps are thin cut chips a thick cut. That's why sometimes they will be sold using different names.

    Oh my goodness!! The excitement when I saw this video, I was like "Ohhh Yaaaaay, they got the boxes and they weren't damaged, and blimey, I honestly cannot believe how quickly they got to you and that you got them together - Wow I'm amazed!
    Awwwww you guysss, you're just so, so sweet - I'm so happy you liked it all. I was having a field day in the supermarket going around thinking what to send, so hard to choose but a lot fun :D I would have loved to send more but the postage gets super expensive over certain weights.
    I thought the Marmite (Yeast Extract - a by-product of beer brewing - it's kind of like vegemite, but I like Marmite better) might be risky as it is a love it hate it thing, but in the crisps it's not as super, super strong as having it straight out of a jar (with butter on toast or crumpets). I was really surprised you both loved that flavour (Our family does too, we are Marmite lovers hehe) :D
    The mini cheddars were Red Leicester (said 'Lester') Cheese flavour, which is an orange coloured cheese with a slightly different taste to standard cheddar. I should have include some of the original mini cheddars for you to compare, but those Red Leicester ones I absolutely love! (I actually love putting them in a sandwich with butter and grated cheese lol!)
    I was a bit concerned the Thai McCoys may be a bit spicy for you Laura, they certainly do have a kick, especially after you eat quite a few but I do love the flavour of those. The Nik Naks Nice n Spicy is quite deceptive isn't it, not that spicy at all really in comparison.
    The party rings and wafers are definitely nostalgic for me as they would always be on the table at kids parties. Jammy Dodgers would be too, but those Fox's version are like a step up with the cream in :P
    I did want to send you a box of Tunnock's tea cakes which are similar to the snowballs but without the coconut. They are very classic, old-fashioned looking and each wrapped in foil, but they had sold out on the day I was at the shop, so I'm glad you both like coconut (I love it!).
    Funny lil thing I have heard about the Toffee Crisp - Apparently they are not allowed to be sold in the US because the packaging is too similar to the Reese's branding!
    Ohh yes, the Polo mints are definitely something you'd find in mum's/nan's handbag, or in the car hehe!
    Ahh I did think Jon would like the little Hippo because it's like a wafer-y biscuit :D They do Kinder Bueno which are like two fingers of the same thing, but the Hippo is cuter ^_^
    The mint matchmakers are one of my faves, they are so addictive and moreish. They tend to come out at Christmas in the UK, the Mint ones and Orange ones are the usual flavours but each year they tend to bring out 1 or 2 different/limited editions ones, they've done Gingerbread, Maple and pecan, honeycomb. I will have to try and remember to send you some different flavours next Christmas!
    Molly is literally like my fur-child and best friend, I take her everywhere I can with me and she also is my model for the pet bow ties I make and sell on Etsy :D Love her to bits and so I always sign things from both of us, even on Christmas/birthday cards to family haha!!
    I want to thank you both so much for making such an epic video, I absolutely loved every minute watching it and you should have seen my face at some parts where I was unsure whether you'd like something, I had my hands up on my face in anticipation, like 'ooooooo what are they gonna think!?!' And I'm really looking forward to seeing how you get on with the custard (I love it on a hot homemade apple crumble! Nom nom) and trying out the orange hot chocolate in a future vid.
    Enjoy! Xxx

    • @loveandjunkfood
      @loveandjunkfood  4 роки тому +12

      I have to say how blown away we were! We loved all of the treats but beyond that, the care you took to send these. The fact that you chose things based on our preferences, my allergy (oh gosh, did you think I was going to eat the nougat) I was close lol! The fact that you wrapped up things that might contaminate the other flavors, including the wrappers...It was all so thoughtful! We loved the cards and pictures too. This is only our second package from a viewer and the other one was a surprise box from Canada but that was also family. So, you will always be our first box from the UK and our first subscriber box. I was hesitant about the marmite but pleasantly surprised! That hippo was the cutest little thing ever! I could go on and on.
      I love that you say that about Molly. We have been without a dog for about 3 years now and we are beyond ready to get another! We have a little kitty that makes an appearance here and there. His name is Rookie and we love him to pieces. But, we both really want a dog again. We are in the midst of a home remodel/redecoration so I think when that is complete, we will begin that process. Could you let me know your Etsy link and I will link it for you and mention it in the next video with the custard?
      Thank you again, from the bottoms of our hearts!

    • @Bexyboo88
      @Bexyboo88 4 роки тому +2

      Aww you are more than welcome, it was just so much fun and so exciting! :D
      Oh my goodness, I'm SO glad Jon checked the nougat before you ate it - I knew the hippo had nuts but scanning over everything else I thought was ok, I had completely forgotten about the nougat having peanuts in it! Yikes - sorry about that!
      Ohh that will be so lovely if you get a new pupper in your lives. I love cats too, we used to have 3 at one point before we got the dogs. We lost our elderly Ridgeback last year unfortunately, she is greatly missed by us all. I hope your home remodel is going well, it's sometimes a lot of work but worth it all in the end! :D
      Bless you, that's so sweet! You totally don't have to, but if you want to, my shop is Mollydollydoodah (www.mollydollydoodah.etsy.com). (Wonder if you can tell who it;s named after hahaha!
      Lots of love from across the pond xx

So similar to vegemite.the squashie on a stick was probably a drumstick.where I live in Hull in Yorkshire every first week in October we get the largest travelling fair come to town , this is where we get the most nougat, but in recent years is now sold in shops.Parma violets were a fab of mine, now I drink the flavour in gin lol.wafers and party rings I still love today, we usually have them at kids birthday parties.

Most of all Jones root beer, sge chose that brand because she knows i'm not a huge fan of vanilla or liquorice especially in drinks, and that is largely wintermint flavoured (or mouthwash as i used to call it, lol but in root beer i love it).

    From the UK, greetings to you both 👋🏻. You're a lovely couple and I love your channel! Thank you for giving a few of our eats and treats a try. My favourite crisps are Walkers Prawn Cocktail and Salt and Vinegar varieties and I just love a Terry's Chocolate Orange (my favourite chocolate).
    Great selection you have there of all kinds of goodies. Snowballs take me right back to my childhood, as do Wagon Wheels - the best!
    Marmite is definitely an acquired taste, but I like it spread thinly on toast. It's a strong flavour. It's also great added to a rich beef stew 👌🏻
    I see the lady also sent you some Jaffa Cakes.....I can munch through a packet of them in minutes, but then I'm a greedy guts lol. They are great!
    I have to say, I love the American Cheetos and tried a bag when a friend brought a few back from America. Our version are called Wotsits - very similar.
    Ambrosia custard and Birds's custard powder are also British staples and I can easily eat the Ambrosia custard straight from the tin - but it's great with any steamed dessert or poured warm over apple crumble 😋.
    I'm a new subscriber by the way.
    All the best,
    Chris.

    Try a snowball with ice-cream. I grew up in my dad’s ice-cream and sweet shop. I saw every new confection coming in and, often, being discontinued.
    There were many various ice-cream options: wafers, oysters, sliders/chocolate wafers, double chocolate wafers and... bashers. A basher was a wafer with a rectangular slide of ice-cream, a snowball on top and finished off with another wafer. Alternatively, a snowball could be put inside a chocolate-wafer ice-cream slider. Also, just a plate of ice cream and a snowball.
    PS. Matchmakers come also in orange, coffee and I think (but can’t remember) another. They’re great nibbles for sitting in on a quiet evening watching a movie. Also good as after dinner treats with coffee if you have friends ‘round for a dinner party.
    PPS. I have a dobermann called “Spartacus”.

    Great video, guys! I'm from the UK. It's fun to see people getting so excited about snacks we take for granted because we've always had them. We don't really use the word candy much at all - we call things biscuits or wafers or chocolate or sweets. Our supermarkets usually put all the biscuits together (sweet and savoury ones) in one place and all the chocolate and sweets in another. Most of the sweets (things that aren't chocolate or biscuits) are marketed towards children and are rarely eaten by adults, although there are some 'adult' sweets too (such as Werthers, boiled sweets and mints). A lot of the chocolate bars are aimed squarely at a sophisticated adult audience - my local village supermarket stocks over 20 different types of dark chocolate bars, for example.

      Hi Phil! Thank you so much! We are grateful for anything! I don't know what is on the way from anyone else but we haven't tried actual marmite yet. Or the chocolate orange with the popping candy, yorkshire tea are a few ideas. Jon loves coffee too and we haven't tried any from there. Honestly, anything at all. We really love our subscribers and you have certainly all brightened some dark days for us as well. Much love x

    There are gingerbread chocolate digestives and Caramel Indulgent Chocolate Cherry Digestives as well as dark chocolate ones. Matchmakers come in orange too. I had forgotten that I had some Parma Violets in a drawer so I've just eaten a pack of those, thanks to you two. Oh, and Jaffa cakes are traditionally orange...as in Jaffa oranges.

    The main ingredient of Marmite is the Yeast Extract that remains after the beer brewing process!

  • @JakeSpeed69

    Marmite = yeast extract spread. It's from concentrated yeast extract, which is a by-product from brewing beer.

    The violet sweets reminded me of a holiday in France. There was a fab ice cream shop and you could taste before buying. There was a deep purple ice cream and I had a taste. It was like mountains of the violet sweets crunched and frozen. It was awful! I pulled a face and the girl said, c’est mechant oui? It’s awful yes?
    I always had rhubarb ice cream, it was divine!

      @@loveandjunkfood Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with, I have to say that I love your reviews. I have seen so many of the Americans try Brit snacks and sweet videos and a lot of them are very concerned with having to do a workout after. You guys just enjoy it and give a review that honest and not tainted by how many calories or if its bad for you. I love that! I came for the reviews being a Brit myself its always fun to see what other countries think of our foods... but I have to say I am loving all your other content too and will be checking out your gaming channel also (my hubby and I are also very into games and love overcooked too :D)

    I know what it’s like to have check every chocolate for nuts as I have a serious nut allergy and I can’t even be near someone that eats nuts that’s how bad it is. I love your videos by the way it’s really cool to see you both trying British treats and snacks and enjoying them. Galaxy is amazingly smooth and silky and Cadbury’s is tasty too. Matchmakers mint are amazing and so are Munchies but I don’t know if they were ones you had but the fudge brownie ones are really nice as well. I have never seen the Cookie Dough ones before they are new to me even though I live in the UK I have never seen them before!!! Thanks for making such cool videos

      Hi Holz! Thank you so much! It's funny because I didn't have a nut allergy as a child. It seemed severe for a while and has now tapered off quite a bit. I tend to avoid nuts but have accidently eaten something with nuts and had no reaction. I think maybe at the time that my allergies were worse, my asthma was not under control. Still careful though. Sending love as I know that is no fun! Those Munchies are a must try! Thank you for watching! x

  • @rod370
    @rod370 3 роки тому

    Hi, Marmite is made from the foam you get on a beer. They add salt and other stuff to it. They cook it in big metal bowls staring it so it wil not stick to the bottom of the bowl. The foam reduces to a brown or almost black colour. Checking it every so often to see when its read. When it is ready to put in the jars they leave it to cool dowm. So it will not crack the jars. Add a lid and a label to the jars. Then pack them in boxes, send them to the shops for us to pick up. Stay safe from Covid-19 to you two and your loved ones.

    Hey there Laura and Jon, I'm glad you both love some of our treats, its really good to see people with an adventurous side...
    I was wondering how hot are American crisps and do they compare in flavour to my favourite Seabrook Fire eaters, well I know this is a job for Jon and so when I go shopping this weekend I will be sure to pick up some of my other favourites for you both to try

      Hi Andrew! That is so sweet! We really love to try new things. When we travel, we have a rule to only eat local or at places that we don't have around home. Some crisps are so hot. The one chip challenge is very popular and so is extra spicy like flaming hot. Jon does love spice, particularly in food! In our garden tour coming soon, he will show off all of his pepper plants.

    I love McCoy's. Rarely have them though. All their flavours are good. I also really like Nik Naks. With the nice and spicy, the emphasis is more on the 'nice' than the spicy. They also do scampi and lemon, make your breath smelly but that shouldn't be a issue with quarantine.
