*Gel polishes have solid colored (mainly black) bottles rather than clear because UV and LED light would harden the gel inside the bottle. The solid color bottle protects the gel from being exposed to light.*
For me, I think the thing that makes gel polishes different from a normal polish is the wear time. If I paint my nails with a normal OPI polish that isn't gel, they will start chipping within 2 to 3 days tops. Whereas, a gel polish will go 5 to 6 days without chipping on me at the least. So, I don't think you really tested the most important part, which is actual number of days wear time. I would recommend for future polish (especially gel polish) reviews, you should wear the nail polishes side by side (just like you did in this video) but wear it for 5 or 6 days and check back in at the end of the video to let us see which one wears the longest. For example, that wet n wild polish may not live up to your thickness standard, but they wear a pretty long time just like other gel polishes do. I have actually been wearing that exact shade of the wet n wild polish on my nails for 6 days and I just started to notice a very light wear down/chipping on the very tips of my fingers. so it actually is a really good polish. Also, it is pretty common, even for more expensive polishes, to have to apply 2 coats of a polish to make it fully opaque so I wouldn't count that against it.
I agree. I was hoping to see how long these polishes wore before they chipped. Freshly polished nails are great but longevity of WEAR is what makes it worth the money.
My Sally Hansen miracle gel one lasts over a week for me you do base coat let it dry then the polish let it dry then the second coat then the top coat. It's so super shiny and long lasting I love it!
Gel polish will usually stay for 2-3 weeks but a no lamp gel polish will last about a week and normal polish will stay 2-3 days and it will start chipping ❤️
I've used Sally Hansen gel polish - I work with my hands a lot - cook, clean, etc and the nail polish doesn't stand the test of time - it chips in less than two days
Thank you for doing this review! I was wondering about these products and I really appreciate the time and effort you put in. Maybe you can do another review where you show us what they looked like after two weeks to compare. Anyways, have a wonderful day!
Thanks for the video. These are not Gels however. They are regular nail polishes that the manufacturer want you to think are gels. All gels need a lamp to cure (dry). They come in a black or opaque bottle to protect t5hem from light.
@@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom "regular light" ie sunshine has uv rays in it. So sunlight will eventually cure true gel polish. These are not true gel polishes though.
Natalie Nicole It gives the same finish. so its essentially a "dupe". i use wet and wild's gel Polish with a topcoat (even though its not needed) and it lasts on me for around 2 weeks. I've tried other gel no light needed polishs and they don't work out. but wet and wild works great and it sooo much more inexpensive than getting your nails done every 2-3 weeks
Could I use a Uv light? I’m doing A whole bunch of research today. I’m just not understanding. Are there Polishes meant for a Uv and polish not meant for it? How can I know which is which? I have a gel polish at home and the whole thing peels off the same day. Im a crazy beginner lol
Kristy Soares The gel polishes mentioned in the video are just considered “gel”, which are nail polishes that are gel like. Some people don’t consider them gel bc it doesn’t need to cure under a UV light. When you’re buying gel polishes, make sure you look at the description; it’ll let you know to cure under UV or not. The ones I showed in the video are from Walmart/drugstore. Majority of “gel” polishes sold in drugstores don’t need to be cured under UV. Hope this helps! 💕
bunny Sorry! I must’ve made a mistake ? It’s Sally Hansen, Revlon, then wet n wild! All of them lasted a good one week without chipping! The Sally Hansen one lasted the longest without chipping much!
So I bought the Essie gel couture. I applied two coats of the color and two coats of the top coat. It has stayed on without chipping for 6 days, I think the more coats you apply the longer it stays
*Gel polishes have solid colored (mainly black) bottles rather than clear because UV and LED light would harden the gel inside the bottle. The solid color bottle protects the gel from being exposed to light.*
She Who Knows All Wow! I never knew that! Thanks so much for the information!
That makes sense.
That’s why you don’t store them in sun light. It will harden it faster
Thanks I didn't know that either

You should make your own video, thanks for the info 👏👏

Kenetrice Nichole Have you used the Essie Gel Couture & the Sally Hansen Gel Miracle? If you have, which one would you recommend?
If it doesn't require a uv or led light to cure then it's just a regular nail polish that's being marketed as a gel polish.
Thanks for your comment! I should’ve clarified this in my video. These are just marketed “gel” polishes!
actually, it has a GEL-LIKE shine, so it is still considered a Gel Polish, but without a UV or LED light since it cures in NATURAL light
Brooke Katz Its ultimately just regular polish. And the shine is not really anymore shiny than polish.
I have a Sans-UV Polish and it still has a shine to it
Brooke Katz Exactly it is gel it cures in natural light and it's better then uv gel that you need to soak and file off!
SH Miracle Gel is my Holy Grail..2wks & no problems❤️
I've used Sally Hansen gel polish - I work with my hands a lot - cook, clean, etc and the nail polish doesn't stand the test of time - it chips in less than two days
I have used Wet&Wild, gel, and Sally Hanson gel polish and I must say that I like the Sally Hanson better.
Glittery shit- SHINE to them😊😂😂😂
You should have tested them for a week.

What happened if u use these gel polished under the uv light ? They don’t require light but it don’t say we can’t .. just wondering

Which nail polish last longer thou ??😬😬😬
Your eyebrows look amazing! May I ask what you used on them? Thank you and great video :)
buzzspree thanks! Been using Anastasia dip brow pomade from the start and still using it now 😉
@@pinkpam have u tried benefit products for ur eyebrows? I literally have ALL their brow products and i love them
The black packaging on the gel polishes because they don't want the top coat or polish to cure as it cures in natural light and no lamp.
@@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom "regular light" ie sunshine has uv rays in it. So sunlight will eventually cure true gel polish. These are not true gel polishes though.
The top coats tend to be in black bottles because the chemical is light sensitive. Thank you for this review! :)
You never go wrong with sally hensen, less expensive than essie and way better
It's a shame the Revlon colour 455 Win Big is shown as an example because it doesn't seem to be available anywhere. So sad as I love it.
just the information I'm looking for, you are very helpful. Thanks for sharing
The best would require a wear test , isn’t this the point ?
No hate but if you don't use a lamp its not really Gel
If there’s no light needed, it’s not gel.

Glittery shit
Hahaha heard it too
Came here just for this comment
lmao I heard it
How long does the Sally polish last?
Stacy Rose They all lasted a good two weeks!
What is the name of the Sally Hansen one?
The middle one is Revlon not Wet n wild
I thought the second one was Revlon though? Or are there 2 wet and wild? I'm confused lol. How long did these last also?
bunny Sorry! I must’ve made a mistake ? It’s Sally Hansen, Revlon, then wet n wild! All of them lasted a good one week without chipping! The Sally Hansen one lasted the longest without chipping much!
pinkpam you’re answering questions differently. So far they’ve lasted 1 week and 2 weeks🧐
Thanks!!!
It's black packaging because they don't want the uv rays to get to the gel lmao !
Great video and review :)
7:10 you mean revlon
I mean of course they aren’t REAL gels if they don’t take any lamps
Black packaging is because the gel will cure under any form of UV rays
I like the first color 811
Has anyone used the Essie Gel Couture & the Sally Hansen Gel Miracle? If you have, which one would you recommend?
Erika Rodriguez Sally Hansen Gel Miracle is great.
So I bought the Essie gel couture. I applied two coats of the color and two coats of the top coat. It has stayed on without chipping for 6 days, I think the more coats you apply the longer it stays
3:45
I was waiting for the 7 day wear test. Otherwise, I enjoyed your video.
