2024 RS3 Daytona Grey over here 🤙🏻 Did my 1st oil change at 600 miles (based on the motor oil geek YT channel research) and immediately noticed the greenish tint on the oil. My oil also had a pinkish tone to it. I was very concerned. My first thought was "coolant leak." Luckily that was not the case. I contacted my dealership service dept. and spoke with the manager. He stated Audi does not use a specific break in oil on new engines. I used OEM VW/Audi 0W-30 oil. Then I did a 2nd oil change at 1,200 miles, no more greenish tone in the oil. I'll do a 3rd oil change at 3,000 miles and then every 5,000 miles from that point forward. These oil changes intervals on new vehicles are supposed to help the new engine's break in process. Glad I found your channel, awesome RS3 content. Subscribed.
Yeah it's got to be some additive tho or something! Lots of goodies I've been doing to the RS3. Definitely a super fun car! Was have some of the aftermarket parts on our website too! Fun car to work on ;)
Why did link castrol but used Mobil 1? Is castrol ok? Hope so… already ordered it. Also where did you place the jacks? You can’t use the pinch welds cuz that’s where jack up the car…
@@billchampion2234 The Castrol I linked has the European rating. Same stuff I put in my Lambo. Only half the oil I used in this vid had the euro rating. But I jacked from the subframe bolts and used the stands on the pinch welds
Watched this just to get refreshed what tools I need now I realize I need that oil filter drain, I’ve just been manually draining the filter with a screwdriver. I’ve been changing my oil every 4k miles on e85 you’re making me feel bad, I best the piss out of my car and found it’s top speed the day it came home from the dealer. I bet it still outlives many people’s cars
@BrosFOURRSpeed You're referring to just 400 for the oil? Lots of other services are required to keep the warranty like DCT fluid change, diff fluid, filters, etc! It would've cost me nearly double to pay each individual service, and I wouldn't feel comfortable using Mobil 1 oil or anything that is not specifically for the RS3!!
@@speeddemonRS3 definitely a good way to do it. But with the low mileage we drive. Those aren’t going to be needed for a long time for us. Plus we’ll probably be o to something new at 4 years
Does the Mobil 1 count as a mod or improvement from the old oil? I would not want to go all 10k miles until the next one even though the bottle says it's good for 10k.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed OEM uses branded mobil 1. I bought some extra bottles from audi when I did my last change. I think what he has here is basically the same stuff minus the audi logo
I noticed the link to the oil you used for you RS3 is not VW/Audi 504/507 certified. I would honestly remove that link since this oil should not be used for your Audi. I would do another oil change ASAP and get it changed with the proper spec oil.
Oh yeah? I might do that. I just bought oil for the Lambo and made sure it said the VW504. I did just notice the 3 individual quarts were actually Euro formula. But I was planning to do the next oil change in 2k miles. So I think given that, it should be good. But I’ll definitely pay attention better
When I search for my oil I don’t care for all the marketing words on the bottle. As long as it say VW 504/507 you are good to go. I say do another oil change ASAP. It’s not a lot of money wasted to get piece of mind for your new RS3
Also not trying to be nit picky but the link for the new oil is also not correct. That oil is VW 502/505 which is an older spec for older VW/Audis. Our RS3 should be 504/507 spec. I also own an 8y RS3 and this is the proper spec oil I’ll be buying when doing my first 1k oil change as well.

I heard that special additives are added to the oil from factory to help with the break-in process. Never thought this was true until I saw the greenish tint in your video. Do you think that could be the case? Have a MY24 RS3 as well at 1000 miles and was tempted to do an early oil change but now I’m not sure if I should keep the factory oil in for longer
It could be that. But people also recommend early changed to clean the break in stuff out. And the break in process is 600 miles. So 2k is much past the actual break in. But I've also heard people say that Audi doesn't actually use any special break in oil. The green could just be a tint they ad to know Audi did the last change
I always preferred servicing my cars myself but i assume oil change done outside of the dealership would void the warranty, do you think the green stuff mixed with the original oil is what they put in there as an indicator to help them void the warranty?
No, it doesn’t void warranty. Save receipts and keep a log. Do all the services in the manual and you should be fine on warranty. Def use OEM parts though if you are concerned about warranty
@@Sewagin Your Audi dealer should be fine. It depends on if they will throw a fit about mods. Generally basic service they won’t care. But if your tuned and an issue pops up, they’ll be quick to blame the tune
Yeah just learned that. The three individual quarts were actually euro formula. I’ll be doing the next change soon anyways so I’ll make sure all the oil is that formula. At least almost half is.
Actually no, the dealer is crazy for saying that. For sure you should not be going 2 years and 15k between oil changes. Great way to blow your engine. You should do an oil change every year or every 5k miles. Whatever comes first. They just want your engine to get ruined so you come back and spend money on a new car or repairs
@@BrosFOURRSpeed the modern synthetic oil lasts longer. It doesn’t break down and lose its properties like old fashioned natural oil. It can last 2 years easy. The manufacturer designed the engine and can’t offer misleading advice. Plus less services is actually less money for the manufacturers dealership garages. Go ahead, keep changing your oil every 3 months if it makes you feel better.

I had them do one at 1k miles and 2,500 miles. They did it with no questions and of course shows good history on the car
Nope. Just reinstalled. Haven't had a leak and I've put another 2k miles on the car since this. Lots of people recommend changing it. But I've never had an issue. Even in my old GTR. Owned that for 5.5 years and did all the maintenance. Never had a leak

Last time an upscale german indy changed my oil they used the wrong freaking oil spec ( 5w-30 ) and didn't reset the red nipple properly which cause some oil to weep out into my belly pan. I've lost hope.... and now will do maintenance my damn self every 3k

Just grabbed all the OEM parts. Was $150 for 8 quarts OEM, OEM filter, crush washer. Also snagged cabin filter for 2 year service. Dealership wanted $800 for oil change and cabin filter replacement service. Crazy!!
Ofcourse. Older DAZa engines were using 5w30. Now using thin 0w30 is nothing more then emissions/eco reason behind it, low drag, better mog and all that. Audi could give a shit if your engine packs in after the warranty is out

I own a Kemora Grey RS3, carbon package. I don't know why you would change the oil so soon? The oil is break in oil with dye. I currently have just over 4,200 miles on mine. Don't plan on changing the oil until the scheduled first oil change. The oil opacity and color is still gold colored. Of course, I didn't beat on mine like I see you doing to yours on most every video, so there is that! Being a service technician for over 35 years, I am an advocate for early oil changes, except for the first one! just my .02. The only thing I don't like is the noise level inside the car on rougher roads, and when it's raining. The glass panel is pretty huge FYI. The oil in your drain pan didn't drain fast BC the engine and oil wasn't hot??!!
We drove this car very conservatively as Audi suggests for the first 600 miles. That's the break in period according to them. Kept it under 4k RPM the first 600 miles and then gradually started driving it harder and only did the first redline pull after 1k RPM. So we've driven this with extreme care. Just because you see our videos with a few of the videos having a hard pull doesn't mean we drive it like that all the time. In a 10 minute video if you see 5 mins of driving hard, thats like 3 miles worth of driving. We baby this car and a few miles every now and then might be driven hard. At 3,500 miles now and in total maybe 50 miles of that was driven hard. Changing the oil at 1k pulls out any tiny metal shavings during the break in process and replaces it with perfectly clean oil to continue driving. It's cheap and easy to do an oil change so it's a pretty god preventative maintenance to take the best care of the engine. The car was warm for the oil change and it drained like normal.
Nothing Wrong with Mobil 1. Ran that in my GTR for 5.5 years, car ran flawless. But I'll probably go Castol next time in this. Thats what I'll be tuning in the Lambo
300-400 for an oil change! And I said enoughs enough when Mazda went from 80 to 100. When oil is as cheap as it is (especially when the car doesn’t have that many miles on it) it shouldn’t cost so damn much. Broke people are obviously not buying this.
Yeah I just do my own maintenance and it's always cheap. Did the oil change on my Lamborghini and it was less than $150. Can't see spending money at a shop for them to do what I can easily do

Jesus, I'm at 4500 miles on my 24 RS3 with the original oil all while running Map3 on a JB4... You'd think I've destroyed my motor based on this.

I have Audi care for 1800 bucks that takes care of all services for four years! It's completely worth it for what you get!!
Not bad. But a once of year oil change costs me $100 roughly. So I'll spend $400 in four years maintaining this car. Just depends on what you want

I used the rear subframe bolt spot behind the rear wheels. And the lower subframe up front where a bolt is

Did you just reuse the drain plug bolt? Also, was there a crush washer on there already?
