Just finished watching The Greater Caucasus and now watching this. Incredibly beautiful cinematography! So enjoyable and educational regarding a part of the world we don't see much of!💕

Beautiful documentary with breathtaking images. I had never seen anything about this region before. It is really a privilege to see it in all its climatic and ecological diversity.
Thank you for a tour of another lesser known ecosystem. Magical and beautiful. Extraordinary revelation towards the end regarding gazelles that drink salt water. I've never heard of a mammal that can do this.
Was watching show earlier..I thought on Midway, but was jumping all over the place. Lesser Caucasus was one area. I stopped that one..to watch this one! This at least stays in a general area. And it's beautiful! Thank you!
The borders between Georgia, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan run through the range, although its crest does not usually define the border. The range was historically called Anticaucasus or Anti-Caucasus (Greek: Αντι-Καύκασος, Russian: Антикавка́з, Анти-Кавка́з).
What was the platform to allow zoom-in shots of the young eaglet feasting and then instantaneous shots of the mother flying in the background? What photo system is in use? Remarkable from concept to execution. Thx for sharing.
Just imagine, the ancestors of these very creatures were caged inside Noah's Ark for a year, saved from drowning in the Great Flood, and released into the wild after the Ark settled on a ledge near the summit of Mount Ararat. It has been seen by people at times when the snow melts back in warm summers and reveals the front of the Ark. A member of my Seventh-day Adventist Church in the U.S. was an Armenian boy who climbed up to the Ark with his Uncle and noted that the Ark's wood was petrified and a deep red color!
Noah had 3 sons Shem and Ham and Japheth. Ham was the progenitor of the black race and Shem was the progenitor of the Arabic people whereas Japheth is the ancestor of white ones. After some years since leaving the ark Japheth along with his wife and children went north and lived in the lessor Caucuses mtns and became known as Caucasians. Interesting isn't it.
@@huskigirl123 Yes, I have studied Noah's descendants quite carefully and where each son led his tribal family to spread across the earth. Japheth is the FIRSTBORN son of Noah, by the way, and he had seven sons.
Copyrighted in 2016. Excellent photography in this documentary, but I couldn’t see the name of the narrator because they always plaster those “next” boxes all over the credits at the end.

It is Karabakh not Nagorno Karabakh. Nagorno is the Soviet/Russian artificial creation to divide Karabakh into Armenians (Nagorno/Mountainous Karabakh) and Azerbaijanis (Plain/Lower Karabakh. Divide and rule.
Funny it claimed Armenia always retained its independence for millennia. Throughout history, it was almost never independent. Most of the time it was a part of Iran, for a while the Ottoman empire and for a shorter time a part of the Soviet Union, until in the 90s it became independent when USSR broke down.
Lol, you sound pissed. 🤣 Regardless, Armenians remained Armenians, and they kept their identity rather than dissolve into hybrids. They can trace their direct ancestors to 3500 years and are almost the same population since. They used diplomacy to deal with big empires. They lived in most of their motherland until WWI when genocide reduced their influence in their homeland in western Armenia and later soviet influence gave away their Eastern lands to the newly established Azerbaijan. Armenians were talented, which made them important players. Hope this clarifies your confusion.
Wildlife photography is usually very difficult and in this film it's excellent, truly gorgeous. Much praise to the videographers.
