Take a shot for every word I mispronounce
RIP
Oh, we shall... We have our nerfs. :D
Gotta mispronounce filthy xenos names, this is how we assert dominance
wtf I'm drunk before the video evens started.
Molecular = Mock-you-luh.
aahh shit, ok, let's do th....
T'au player here. Super excited about all of the developments! It should be an incredible storyline!
Just a note, Ultramar is on the other side of the Great Rift from the Startide Nexus. The T'au homeworlds are closer to Ultramar than the Chalnath Expanse is. Also the Startide Nexus was established in the 8th Edition T'au Codex, but it took two editions and 6 years to finally do something interesting with it!
I think Valrak needs to double-check his navigation charts. He's mixing up the Ultima Segmentum and the Realm of Ultramar. The Chalnath Exapanse is the western part of the Ultima Segmentum and isn't near Ultramar.
More than that, I come back to the hobby after more than a year away to find out that the brand new lore we are talking about is the Chalnath expanse and the startide nexus is from two editions ago.
If we’re getting Tau as the next big bad, I want more auxiliaries. I like the Battlesuits, but I want more different aliens. They’re supposed to be like the Covenant, but it’s almost all just Tau
I'd like to see some human collaborationist Tau auxiliaries with hybrid human/Tau uniforms and tech.
@@StuSaville I honestly want to possibly see some Tau heretechs. Like imagine a mechanicus but just absolutely dripping with some high end Tau tech.
The continuing mission of the Startide Nexus, to seek out new worlds and new civilisations (and subsume them for the Greater Good). To baldly go where no Tau has gone before.
And get smashed by the Imperium because they poked too close enough
Winged warriors bathed in golden light feels much more like the new Sanguinary guard
I was thinking Imperial Saints.
But wasn't the thing saying they won't have wings?
More likely celestine
Sororitas to me
@@adeptuspotatocus6451 Yes, that's what I was thinking. This is about faith as a weapon and that's kind of what they are.
Valrak this started in the Psychic Awakening in the book ”Greater Good”, was also where the second Kill Team box took place.
Yeah I’m learning that as of now, what did it say about work hole in that book
Wait until he finds out Guilliman may come back…
I've said this on other videos about this lore update, but the Tau should be winning in the Startide Nexus and Chalnath expanse on every front. It's basically a group of frontier systems with minimal defense and aid, but the Tau has 1 and a bit expansion fleets, which are massive crusade fleet. The 5th Sphere fleet fought back an entire Deathguard fleet until it got killed by the Tau Warp god (terrible lore). The Chalnath expanse should have already been conquered by now. it's insane that these tiny unsupported worlds are able to hold them back, especially when the GSC are also fighting across these planets.
Additionally, the Tau are supposedly really good at killing Tyranids, like really good, if you go by codex lore. Farsight developed a poison that Tyranids can't react to, drones are able to match the Tyranids in number, and the Tau fleet tactics are supposedly adept at dealing with Tyranid biofleets because Tau ships are faster than most factions ships in real space.
The T’au lost the engagement against the Death Guard in the Chalnath Expanse.
Also they weren’t saved by their warp god the Death Guard just decided to fuck-off after some of their ships made it into the Startide Nexus. (Sure the T’au probably would’ve won if the Death Guard did decide to appear on the other side but thats irrelevant right now).
O’Shaserra crippled the invading Death Guard fleet but some ships still got into the Nexus, the ones that didn’t fucked off back into the warp and almost all the boarding actions conducted by Breacher Teams was a whopping failure.
Now I am can only really talk with certainty about whats in the T’au codex because its the only newer box I have, but from what I have seen on the new Chalnath lore I would say that it makes sense that the T’au haven’t conquered it yet.
Reason 1: Chalnath is a fucking big area, T’au ships are still slow because they haven’t fully understood warp travel yet, which means any defending Imperial ships can respond to the T’au quicker than the T’au can respond to them, while the T’au Empire might have the better organisational skills with the Imperial Forces being stuck on the wrong side of the rift. The T’au are still much slower, reinforcments from the greater empire take a long time to get through the Nexus and their ships are slower at navigating the expanse than Imperial Vessels. Also gotta remember the T’au are probably still mapping the Expanse whereas the Imperium already knows where everything is.
Reason 2: the Imperium still have more forces than the T’au or at least the same amount. 3 Regiments of Imperial Guard is a very large force, thats not counting PDF forces and judging on the new lore the T’au can’t sweet talk their way into capturing planets like they normally do which means a lot more Fire Caste manpower is being used to induct planets than a normal sphere of expansion. The T’au are also fighting Death Watch, Inquisitors and SoB (and we all know how powerful faith is for humanity).
Reason 3: While yes the Cultists should make dealing with Humanity easier the T’au still have to fight the Genestealer cults so it doesn’t make it that much easier.
Reason 4: Tyranids. Farsight did create a virus the Tyranids can’t combat but there is no reason to suggest that the Empire have access to said virus and I don’t see anything to suggest that they have created their own. Also in the past I believe the T’au needed help from humanity and I think Dark Eldar when they had to face Tyranid Hive Fleets, and that was with resources from the larger empire, an Expansion Fleet is cooked against an invading hive fleet unless they get help or reinforcements (and FAST).
So nah I think GW did a good job explaining this plotline away.
@Sollapoke the Tau star god did intervene when dealing with the Death Guard fleet. It made the Death Guard sorcerer mutiny against the Chaos Lord of the Armada and trapped the Chaos Lord in the warp. That's from the Shadowsun book.
Again, this isn't some small Tau fleet. This is an expansion fleet. It's equivalent to a medium-sized imperial crusade and can colonize multiple systems at once. 3 regiments of the Guard, some Sisters of Battle, and a few dozen Deathwatch can not hope to beat it, especially when they have to deal with Genestealer Cults. The Tau Psychic Awakening book made it clear that outside of actual open combat, the GSC is more a hinderence than a threat when coupled with fighting the Imperials.
The Tau were quite effective in dealing with the Tyranids and only lost a handful of worlds to Hive Fleet Gorgon. The lore specifically states that the Tau and Tyranids change as fast as each other, and the Tau have devised Tyranid countermeasure. Mainly catching the Tyranids in open space and whittling them down from a safe distance until breaking them on a heavily fortified planet. Will it work against the entirety of Leviathan like on Baal, no, but I doubt any Tyranid Hive Fleets of Leviathans size are moving about in this region of the galaxy, especially when Leviathan is on the other side of the Cicatrix Maledictum.
Remember, this event happened back in 8th ed, and the fact that the Tau haven't completely conquered the region flies in the face of them being an actual threat to the Imperium when they easily beat back an entire Imperial Crusade with multiple Guard regiments, Space Marine Chapter, and fleet assets. The Tau beat said crusade with less resources compared to what they have now in the Startide Nexus.
2:37 “slow at best” uhhhh it’s probably really fast when you consider just how much distance it has to travel through space. Space is REALLY BIG.
Valrak pronouncing belligerents is pure fucking comedy 😂😂😂
To be honest I thought most of those names had almost East Asian pronunciation In Valraks defense hard if you're from the North .....even harder if you're a Brummie like me
Belligerents is an English word lol. The names of sector's and planets I can forgive but this, no just no 🤣
Still mad AdMech didn’t get a kill team during a season set on a FORGE WORLD during our codex release.
They don’t sell well. That’s why.
I'm guessing whoever came up with this storyline is a big Halo fan XD
The Tau are fish. Sharks are fish. SHARKS CONFIRMED IN SPACE MARINE 2!!!!
It's be better than the video game dedicated on a "fire warrior"
As a tau commie we are fish
Also the fire warrior was a student of pure tide and pureide was basically that guy for the tau
TAU ARE GOATMEN 🐐 THEY'VE GOT HOOVES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
T’au are cows, seriously, has nobody here actually read the Lore before memeing them? Shame on you.
For a moment I was like “wtf you talking about Matthew?” THEN I remembered about the sharks in the Colosseum thing in the latest live stream 😂
It’s great to see chapter master valrak talking about his true allegiance in WH40k it’s about time the tau got some new lore really
Imagine if Tau seeing Guilliman and thinking hes the Emperor in the flesh lol
I’m new to 40k (1-2 years). Why does GW constantly start new story lines like this yet they never finish any of the 20-30 other story lines. It’s kinda frustrating
40k is a setting, not a story, there are stories yes, but none of them will come to true final ending. Eldar will always be hunted by slaanesh, the emperor will always stay on the throne, the necrons will always be waking up and so on.
To sold miniatures 😁
@@DMDuncan37 I hate it but you’re right.
New things sell, finishing them would be cool but some bean counter told them it doesn't matter
This video would have held so much more weight and depth if it had been T'au-Rak in his glorious true blue hue proclaiming his love of the his favorite 40K faction! 🎉
Val will send the Imperial Fists after me, but... FOR THE GREATER GOOD!
Tau’va Gue’la
Joke's on you, I'm a gue'vesa. Also, I fight for the Enclaves!
@CaydenSworn hey do you remember that time farsight banished a demon with a magic symbol by carving it into the demons chest ?
FOR THE GREATER GOOD!
I mean... the Tau spheres have expanded before... it usually just means they'll make one new battlesuit and perhaps a new named character or vehicle. It certainly wont be a "big picture" event... just Tau continuing to be Tau
The emperor is 100% be a warp god, all the prayers to him are giving him power in the warp.
I want to see the Tau encounter the Legion of the Damned in a large scale battle. That is really going to confuse them and kick their blue butts.
will be interesting to see if imperial/tau combine to beat tyranid
thats an impressive amount of heresy
warriors in golden light and wings, thats the sanguinary guard
But weren't they not coming with wings? According to Valrak himself
Maybe it's in reference to the winged Space Marines from the Bequin books?
The foil is coming back on boys, Valrak will find a way to connect this to the king in yellow
@@TurbanCatMccoywings Can also mean the jump pack, maybe?
Come on Tau, invade Ultramar already!
Would be good if theTau and few Genestealers Cultists get a little bit of love in more lore & books.
Woho, Tau expands! All for the greater good!
What? Saint Celestine is in Chalnath? Holy Cow!! 🔥🔥🔥
I love how TAU ignore that Galaxy is going into the shi* hole as Great rift and tyranids incoming.
because why not.
WHY NOT??
....
What’s wrong with being optimistic? Don’t you get sick of all the negativity? That’s why Tau are loved and will be the inheritors of the galaxy.
@@jasoninthehood9726 yes lord- commissar. Take him. God-emperor protects.
The Tau have secret classified weapons they use against nud invasions. I could source you but would rather gw didn't nerf them since they forgot they added them in lore. They are one of only two races that defeats nids with sn 80% success rate. The other being votann.
@@Aptonoth What about Necrons?
I demand a kroot that ate some ethereal😂
Kroot ethereal model confirmed
the Deathwatch is brutal, especially right after that absurd AOS purge. What happens when GE wants to release Primaris Marine 2’s or wipes out dark eldar.
The lion will come in at the last minute abd save the day
so it is much more then just 3 factions.
we got Guards, Tau, GSC, Nids, Sisters and Inquisitors.
and the winged combatants in golden light is jump sisters or Celestine.
Day 29 of asking where is Primaris Ezekiel, Grand Master of Librarius of Dark Angels Chapter
The mutated strands aren’t necessarily for GW to make models for. But for fans and collectors of the hobby. They put it in lore for good reason, of course, but it’s not always something for the business of GW to do but for the hobbyists.
I'm not sure if this is 100% accurate, but someone told me that canonically, the (Craftworld?) Eldar and Tau have only interacted once.
So, uh, yeah. GW, please develop your Xenos factions. Please. Warp Spiders have models from 1994. There are still no Votann novels. I mean, c'mon.
Tau have really only interacted from my knowledge with Dark Eldar and it made the entire Tau empire the hated enemies of them. The Dark Eldar scoured Pech the homeworld of the Kroot, wiped out a Tau Sept world, and lied to the Tau ethereals about the nature of their aid in fighting the Tyranids. It also didn't help that it was lead by Urien Rakarth
@@markhohenbrink5230 Tau have interacted with Votann. See (I believe) 9th ed. Votann Codex.

Ah Tau my main faction. I'm hoping this leads to a second big wave of new Tau models in a few years with a focus on new and updated Tau vehicles as they are soon out of date compared to the rest.
I really hope they drop companion rules for any new gsc units
Sure it can be the next major narrative sense GW forgot its also the 5th Tyrannic war and Dante is supposed die
I hope for new killteams. A better deathwatch killteam as the compendium ❤
If they redid everything in the DW vet kit in primaris id be pleased
What going on with the farsight enclaves tho?
8:56 To me it makes me think the Winged Human warriors wreathed in light could be some kind of Seraphim possessed by the powers of a living saint, maybe an upgrade for the Seraphim/Zephyrim into something new and holy.
Either way I'm loving this build up and I'm looking forward to new Kill Team sets as I'm really enjoying the game, I just hope they don't revamp the rules too much.
They ruined the tau by making them effected by chaos
I think DW is getting rolled into agents because GW wants to make agents into a viable army which can make money because separately they don't make money, thoughts?
Sounded like Legion of the damned are in it too.
orks, always orks.
Also, Zealotry is an enema to the greater good. noted.
I hope the Tau do something big because the Tau loosing every engagement gets boring
they need cain to pop up and be a the diplomat again :)
Here come the Lion and Dante. Super friends unite
Another great vid! Do you have any information on the Horus heresy set with mk2 and saturnine terminators? I need to know when the terminators are coming!!!!!! I need to know everything please!!!
From Commissar Chiapas Cain novel. We know that Tau can be infected by Genestealer as well.
At least the tau finally learned not to deliberately infect themselves….
@@bobh9492 Imps still didn't get the memo...
***realizes valrak never finished grade 11
It's not really bordering the systems of Ultramar. Ultramar is south of the T'au Empire. The Ultima Segmentum is a good distance north of the T'au Empire, in east/northeast of the galaxy.
Yet another video and update to the narrative... without the Votann. Kind of wondering what the point of introducing them was?
Agreed. Votann got skipped in the current one, even though it quite literally should have somewhat focused on us. And now... yet another one. It's gone beyond frustrating. I don't know where GW thinks we fit (or don't fit), but it feels like they really like Votann but almost as that "cute cousin you see once a year" faction... Sigh.
(Edited to remove strikethrough)
Post Edit: Also? Tau. Votann. Another way in that way. Sigh again.
Yeah I'm still waiting for more lore it's like we are drip fed it like if you go away for a week and no one's gone around to change the hamsters water bottle, just having to rely on tiny little drops 😞
@@JackRabbit002 I honestly haven't had the time to look at the KT book, but maybe there are slivers in there. The problem is, why are we looking for slivers? It'll be 2 years in December. They should honestly have dropped some paragraphs here and there by now... maybe there's more stuff somewhere.
Rev up your reactors blue men …. Ta’Unar go!
Fire Warriors? Fiery gaze of Power Armor? Winged Human Combatants wreathed in blinding golden light?
Not to presume I'm a WH4OK expert or anything, but I thought The Emperor would often show his strength in Chaos Incursions - this would be the first time listening to any of these WH videos that he is using his influence to power his people against alien invasion of the Human control worlds.
I mean, correct me on that one.
The Deathwatch work better as specialist Killteams than a full army. It’s pretty much the point of their background lore.
Except 40k is never played at the scale of full armies. A standard 2k game is perfect to show off a few kill teams, dreds, and specialist supporting forming a task force to take out a specific threat. That is supported in the lore.
What? Tau using Hyperspace? Impossible.
[Tyranids]Leave our Sous-chefs alone! You know how hard it is to get reservations anywhere after Abaddon's temper tantrum?![/Tyranids]
I don’t care what changes they make to DW as long as they give us primaris DW with combi-weapons.
What are the numbers of the deathwatch? 1000, Or far bigger but in small groups all over the galaxy?
Small groups over galaxy
News just in the tau has taken a total of 4 planets over the last hundred years
Keep fighting the good fight for us Dorn lovers Val ❤
Diplomatic what?
This is a game of battle; Funny statement.
So you're saying Blood Angels reveal tomorrow
Tau vs Marines 11th edition box?
Wonder how the T"au would react to one of the returned Primarchs would just think shit these Gue'la are getting bigger!?
Theyd probably would think of them as overhyped space marines until they lose the same amount of planets as the Damocles mini crusade in a month
@jakerooke174 Damocles Crusade fleet conquered three pre-evacuated planets before being broken on the first Sept World they came across.
Three.
The Lion is powerful, and would certainly get results, but ultimately he's just a bigger railgun target.
Gene steeler tau maybe ?
*sad Tyranid noises*
Sororitas going to work lol
40K wannabe "authors" periodically hit the loop: Chaos, Orks, Tyranids, Necrons, Tau... Nothing to see here, move one...
Chaos Tau incoming
50 sec in not sure if it is brought up but calling it now with the mention of the border of Ultramar the Death Guard will be getting involved in this. They recently have been really not liking the Tau since they are against Nurgle's way, and with this being close to Ultramar maybe this will be Warbands who hung around after the Plague Wars.
Edit: Watched and rewatched ok no mention of the Death Guard but I think you got Ultima and Ultramar mixed up, though mentioned Plague Wars. But ya this is on the other side of the Rift still all the pieces are there. I want to see the Tau though recreating what they did to create the Startide Nexus and set up a number of basically warp points for them to travel the Galaxy.
Valrak is off on that one. It's not close to Ultamar, it's on the other side of the Great Rift in Imperium Nihilus.
@@VedaRa501 Ya I think he saw Ultima and his mind just clicked Ultramar.
The Death Fleet that fought the Tau 5th Sphere Fleet got wiped out when it entered the Stattide Nexus by the Tau God. It's terrible lore and it seems unless you are a Tau ally, you get killed if you enter the Nexus
