Hi David, it's my pleasure. Thanks for watching and really glad you enjoyed the review. Congratulations it is a great bike and sure you will love it 👍 No the bag is actually from a shop called Halfords, it is a cycling bag but it just fits motorbikes so well!!
I am not a biker but I like the aesthetics of (some!) motor bikes. I am in the USA and today I saw this same model, an English icon, in my local town. It was of an awesome size but brutally handsome in a grey colour. The large digital display was striking and my eyes just wandered over the bike: it's complex, is it not? The owner was a friendly chap and did not mind me asking him naive questions about the bike. I guess he liked my admiration for the Tiger.
That is great to hear that you can appreciate the looks and design of bikes 👍 Sounds like you have been bitten by the "biking bug"!! They are even more pleasurable to ride. Bikers tend to be very friendly people. Just enjoying the freedom of the ride. Cheers

Hi Darren, 👍 thanks so much I really appreciate that! Really glad you enjoyed the review. Yup I would also go for the 1200, 900 still a great bike but the 1200 is just more of the same. Thanks for the good wishes, I intend to keep on riding and reviewing as much as I can. Perhaps one day I will get that invite!! Cheers
Pretty cool bro. I’m on the fence since only a year back I bought my Scrambler 1200XE but you sure got me thinking. Thanks for a great video - Well done sir!
🙌 Thanks so much I appreciate it, really glad you enjoyed the video. Nice, would be a great upgrade from the Scrambler 1200 if you are planning on some adventures!! Good luck with your choice. Cheers
Every review I watch, the engine note sounds awesome . I had the old version which was a great touring bike with a silky smooth triple but falling off top heavy. I have a GS now which is brilliant and low centre of gravity . Bur tempted with this
👌 It is a great sounding bike! That T-Plane crank just gives it an extra "rasp" to the exhaust note. I have never ridden the older version but can imagine the engine was lovely. This Explorer model was a bit tall and top heavy for me personally (5'9"), I would go for the Rally Pro.
Hi...I enjoy your reviews.... Would just like to say...I've owned many bmw's including 4 gs's..and a gsa...I love them...but...I find the engine noise excessive, especially when you pull up at junctions etc. I test rode the new Tiger...loved it..mine arrives next week..chopping in my rocket 3gt.....best regards... Hey Angus. I just rode both the 900 and 1200 Rally Pros and you really did justice to this bike. I'm 5'8" and I much preferred the 900, which will be my next bike. I need the 21" front wheel for off-road, and the 1200, though a truly amazing bike, just did not feel as manageable for me as the 900, which has a much more streamlined tank setup and has a lower seat height, especially when off-road. I also rode the 1200 GS, and I was surprised that the 1200 RP was a better ride and felt more complete and that I even enjoyed the 900 more than the GS - and I love the GS. You can adjust the height down 1" electronically for stops, but even then, it's a tall bike.
Very good review. I like the blue GT Explorer that you have in your showroom. Do you offer test rides? Jim, because of the BMW GS rental I rented a couple of years ago from you I bought a 2020 1250 GSA which I like , but may want to try something different. Please let me know about a test ride. God Bless.
If your worried about the bulk of the tank out the side you will need to go the 900. The extra 10l is at the back of the tank between your legs at the seat. In the rally pro there is a plastic insert there.
Maybe it is just my imagination but the 30L tank just seemed so much bigger!! Also I know you don't have to fill it up but the extra weight up high is a down side for me. I like the Rally Pro 👍 Cheers

Love your reviews, great work and now you have ridden the R1250GS and all the tiger 1200s which one would you buy today, your dream bike GS or the Tiger?
👍 Thanks, really pleased you like the reviews. Haha that is a tricky question. In all honesty I would need to ride the GS again. But to not sit on the fence I am gonna say the GS1250!!
Thanks Christopher 👍 Glad you liked the vid! Haha yes I had a brilliant time 😁 really enjoyed it, its amazing how much joy these bikes can give! Cheers
I tried the bike and I loved it, in fact I have an order that they give me in 30 days, the 1200 gt pro explorer, the only downside that I would put on the bike, is the screen, I am 1.94cm tall and it did not cover me enough I'll have to wait for the aftermarket to change the screen. Sorry for my English, I'm using the google translator for some words that I don't know how to write, thanks for your videos.
👌 Very good English! Nice congratulations on your new bike, not too long to wait until you get it. Yes I am sure there will be lots of after market screens etc... I hope you enjoy it, it is a brilliant motorbike. Many thanks and glad you like the videos. Cheers
@@vicomtedelomagne No, I have not tried the deflector, for my taste it lacks 3cm in width on each side and 5cm in height from the original dome, even with the deflector air will continue to arrive, aesthetics have prevailed and it is noticeable in tall people

You can find them in Halfords stores. I use a standard charging cable from my phone leading to the 12v DIN socket.
No need to have your phone in front of you. Very easy to link it and use google map on the screen. And if you buy the Explorer, you don't have to put 30 litres in; if you put 20 litres the weight is very similar to the Rally Pro/GT Pro.
👍 It is a brilliant looking adventure bike. Same the larger tank give it a more muscular look, it is big and imposing, but still looks great! Yes the switch gear is all backlit 👌
Fair enough, it’s not for everyone I guess. Definitely not as smooth as the old engine. I personally prefer the lower down torque, but just personal preferences
I think I need one of these to replace my SuperTenere. Do you do video's on how to convice a wife of the necessity ? I am not game to suggest I trade the Thruxton R she bought me a few years ago though !! That 30 litre tank would be ideal for runs across the Nullarbor, and the backlit switch gear is exactly what is missing from the SuperTenere, where taking your eyes off the road long enough to find the switches whilst on Kangaroo infested roads is too risky.
😂 I wish I know the secret to make a video like that!! It is a great bike, the new T-Plane crank is a winner in my opinion. Am am 5'9" and personally would opt for the 20L tank as can feel a bit top heavy for me. Wish we had some of the off road tracks you have in Aus, this bike is perfect for them. One of these days I will head over for a trip! Cheers

Hi Angus,I hope you are having a good week. I’m catching up on your reviews and thank you for this clear cut, honest review on a bike that I’m considering. I would like to hear a comparison review between the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro and it’s smaller sibling the 900 GT Pro. How about that? Have a great week and happy riding 👍
Hi Simon, all good thanks 👍 Not the best of weather here atm, but will hopefully improve soon! Thanks really glad you liked the review, it is a lovely bike. Thats a good idea, I will try my best. It can be tricky getting the bikes available at the same time and for long enough. I am trying to work towards being lent press bikes soon from the manufacturers themselves, then I can spend more time with the bike and do some more creative reviews. Many thanks again and same to you, have a great weekend, nearly there!
Love this vid, qualify content 🤌🏼 Considering a change of pace from a Street Triple RS and this is looking likely. Side note: please rotate your phone maps to landscape and then rotate lock your phone screen, oddly off putting for me 😂
👌 Thanks, I appreciate that. Really glad you liked the video. It is a great bike, very fast on road as well, you won't be lacking for power. Haha I will try to remember that!!
Haha 👍 thanks Tom really glad you liked the video. Yup it is a lovely bike, I wouldn't mind one myself!! You never know perhaps the prices will be a bit more attainable in a few months time!
Great review. Just got my 900 Rally Pro a month ago (same color). but this review is making me go mhhhhhh!. Seems like An amazing bike. Weight and height matter to me a lot though and going for the GT or Rally Pro 1200 is an option but not sure they come with all the bells and whistles of the Explorer. Curious what jacket you wearing? I want one :-)
Thanks I really appreciate and glad you liked the review 👍 Nice I really like the 900 Rally Pro, a great motorbike. The 1200 is very similar, but just that bit bigger and more powerful. The 900 does have its benefits though with its smaller dimensions and lighter weight. The 1200 Rally Explorer is BIG! I would personally go for the 1200 Rally Pro! It is a "Richa" High visibility jacket. They don';t make the exact same one anymore, but I believe have a similar model. Cheers
I hear ya. I'm getting ready to buy the 900 Rally Pro and this 1200 came out and it's SIIIIICK. I love it. However...it IS BIG. I wanna do some off road and the 900 is DEF the way to go. I love both these bikes and kinda go back and forth too but..the cost and the size and weight...I'm sticking with the 900.
@@kee7678 👌 I think you have made the right choice! It is a hard one, but the 900 definitely has its benefits over the 1200. I think you got it spot on. Enjoy the bike 👍
5’7 and a 30 inch inseam here. Contremplating with CRAZY and buying 1. Can’t do the HD Pan America although the automatic ride height suspension is CLUTCH (Dream for more ADV bikes)
I am 5' 9" with a 33" inseam and found it just about manageable! If I where you I would consider the GT model, or perhaps the Rally Pro. Bit easier to handle. Just my opinion though! Cheers
@@redangrevival Great review! Have you tried a 900 Rally Pro and compared the seat height? I have a 32" inseam and can more or less flat foot the 900 RP on the lower seat setting (860mm), whereas this one is 875mm. Wondering if it's mostly the extra width of the bike that makes it harder to reach down properly?
Hey mate. Which do you prefer out of the tiger and the KTM SAS ? They both look great-but I really fancy the KTM. every time I look at the tiger rallye pro, I think yes! But the KTMS’s got my heart! I’ve ridden both. The KTM grabbed me more over the tiger, although I need more time with both, as you know I’m running a GSA which I also love. I also own a 2018 speed triple RS, which ain’t going no where.
😂 all good! Having said that in the video, minds always change!! I would need to ride them both again. The KTM is soooo good, I just worry that it might be too lively for my style of riding.
@@redangrevival I thought the same, but found it very compliant when taking it easy, which I often do! I’m getting on now! (60 next year) so was surprised at how easy! Nice to know you have that angry edge, even if you only visit now and again!😆 good work tho mate. I enjoy your stuff.👍🏻
@@kee7678 not so fast.... This is the first edition, reliability, long distance durability, unknown & still need to be tested when loaded. network of repair facilities, cost of parts & they are important too . it's not the first Super ADV that is challenging the GSA- as of now, the GSA remain un-beaten.... & Let's not forget the 1300cc that is coming soon
I agree, it does have some dive on the front forks! Can stiffen it up with the electronic suspension but it is still noticeable. The GT models are much better for this
I liked your enthusiasm ! I am contemplating buying it for touring only ( and probably showing off a tiny bit): how would you consider it for touring ? I am only 5’9 - how tall are you ? Cheers.
Hi I am 5' 9" with a 33' inseam. It is a brilliant bike and would be fantastic for touring, especially with the 30 litre fuel tank etc... haha great for showing off as well!! I was on my "tip toes" so would say it was a bit too high for my personal preferences. I would personally go for the Rally Pro model. Bit less weight to worry about if it does lean over!! Hope that helps
Good review. I would like at least to ride it back to back with the lighter 900, but like you I also like KTM SA 1290 and the 890 Adv which seem a lot more focussed machines and as you say a bit faster. Surprised you didn't mention or talk about the Tiger 1200's shaft drive? It was like the elephant in the room when you did the walk around but you didn't refer to it! Shaft drive is a huge plus, no chain to keep clean or maintain especially if riding off road. I'm shorter than you 5'7" so it would definitely be a lower seat version or the lighter version with the smaller fuel tank and 19" front wheel, or the Tiger 900 easier to pick up or either of the KTMs 890 Adv or 1290 SA, but not the GS just not a fan of them plus they don't have illuminated switch gear AFAIK. Not into Ducatis either. You could save yourself a bit of cash by getting a V-Strom or Versys or Tracer 9 GT Pro. But thanks for the review. You seem to have found your style and now building on it.
Thanks Alex 👍 Glad you liked the review, yes I am getting into the flow of it now, really enjoying the reviews. Yes same I would like to try the Tiger 900 again, it is a really nice package, easier to handle than the 1200. I know apologies, I missed the shaft drive, tricky to get everything into the videos!! A massive bonus in my eyes also, saves on maintenance time, especially on longer trips. Yes the 900 may suit you better. The SAS 1290 is just mega amounts of fun and so capable 😁 I must book in and review the more money friendly adventure bikes soon! Cheers
Does anyone tried top speed?? On mine so far it is only 205 km/h due to rev limit on 6th gear. But I'm on the early stage of engine tearing. Hope it will let go when exceed 2000km .
Haha 👍 Sorry Mike am I giving you the itch!! They are amazing machines, so much fun and practical as well. You will need some restraint if you start testing them out!! 😁
Thanks glad you liked the review 👍 Yes ideally I would like a lot longer test ride, however it is not always possible to get the bikes for long enough. Perhaps one day soon I will get a long term loan bike 🤞
👍 Cheers. Yup I see where you are coming from, I think perhaps they should make a 1200 Tiger Sport without the T-Plane crank for a more road focused sportier ride 🤔
I believe you need to have a bike for a good four or five days before saying which is best, so many niggles and pluses don’t arise in a few hours. A good little insight to a bike I’m interested in. I rode the GT pro and was slightly disappointed in the vibes but it did handle well. I will need another ride but for now the GSA will be staying. 👍🏻
Hi Ben, I completely agree with you 👍 This is just a first initial impressions review, but yes I would really need both the bikes for a few days of good riding to make the final decision! I think the handling is one of its strongest points. Do you think it handles better than the GS?
@@redangrevival yes it does! it’s what I liked about it and it’s very agile (GT pro) can’t speak for the explorer! I love my GSA but I’m on my 7th so hoping for a change soon. But it’s going to be a tough decision. I really liked the KTM SAS! but worry about reliability and residual. 👍🏻
I would like to add, jumping back on my GSA I didn’t feel let down. The GS has a sure footed confidence enspiring way of handling. It can still be thrown around and as a long range touring bike long term owner ship is probably better..
Woah! Seventeen grand!!!! Not saying it's not worth it, it's got everything. Don't know if it's the huge tank, which has its advantages , but it's the first bike where I've thought hope he doesn't drop it. Not because of the price but it just looks very droppable. Looks nice but tall, rich man's toy.
😂 yup it is certainly a big one! and pricey. Has all of the bells and whistles. Yes well noticed, it is very tall, there where a couple of moments!! If I owned it and used it on a regular basis, I would definitely drop it haha!
I don’t have to watch this video (I did watch it) to answer the question if it’s the best Adventure bike for 2022. The answer is hell no! If you are going to hit the road and di mostly pavement riding and may be some grandpa style off roading (mostly flat dirt roads), the may be. But real off road riding, other bikes, such as the Tenere 700 will easily beat it. And the T7 lacks all the electronic junk the Tiger has for less than half the price. Good luck finding someone who can work of bikes such as the Tiger or BMW 1250 GS, or parts, in a remote town in some third world country. I saw a guy get stuck in a South American country for nearly a month waiting for parts for his BMW. By contrast, a friend had to wait 5 days for part for his Suzuki V-Storm to arrive in Ecuador. Bottom line is this, to call any bike the best Adventure bike is 100% bull. Simply due to the facts that which bike is the best is subjective. It really comes down to what you like, how you plan to use it, how much money you want to spend, and how brain wash you are by whats in style or not. BMW as done an amazing job at selling their bikes as the ultimate world travel adventure bikes. Yet in two surveys 7 years apart showed that they are one of the too two least reliable bikes sold in the US. Only neaten by CanAm. Is that what you really want in a world adventure bike? Not to mention the weight of those bikes. Yeah, have fun unsticking them from mud or sand by yourself.
I admire your passion on the subject!! You hit the nail on the head, it is purely personal opinion 👍 I do agree if you are in far flung places and going on "true" adventures without support, then a simpler and smaller bike would be better. You may like my video out tomorrow on the Royal Enfield Himalayan!! Now that is a simple adventure bike.
Hi, yes same I think it is perhaps a tad too tall for me also! I would go for the Rally Pro version, with a little less weight and width so high up from that 30 Litre fuel tank.
@@redangrevival I’ve always wanted a 1200 triumph but the old ones are way too heavy for me and tall. This new model has of course participated successfully in weight watchers. But still too tall for many
👍 yup the best looking in my eyes. Yes it is a tad tall to be honest, however I think with the seat in its lowest setting it would be OK. I quite like high up riding positions, just have to be careful when stopping haha The GT would make more sense, however I just love the look of the Rally.
Just too much money for a bike for me you can have a just as much fun on less than half that cost, dare I say even a quarter of that cost makes no sense not for me my friend 😊👍
Fair enough, and I think you are right on the fun part 👍 I suppose if you have the money and want the newest most technically advanced bike then its perfect! It is a sight to behold in person haha Cheers

Haha I will try to remember that!!
i'm off shopping lol (i wish ) great review awsome bike
I also own a 2018 speed triple RS, which ain’t going no where.
..seems you have answered my question at the end😂👍🏻
@@benkelly2190 Yes I suppose I need to ride the KTM more to get to know it! It is a definite contender. The best of both worlds 👌
❤️ from India
seems like real contender to the R1250GSA. Nice Vid
Thanks glad you liked the video 👍 Yes it genuinely is up there with the GS.
I saw a review the other day and the result was "Finally the GS got beat".
@@yair1956 so yeah it was obvi performance based review...no crystal ball.
Might be buying a rally explorer
👍 a great bike!
The one thing that gives me pause is the fork dive. I agree the Triumph is the best looking. My wife hates my 1250 GSA, but only likes this Tiger
Cheers.
He’s 5 9 like you (and I).
He doesn’t mention his inseam leg length tho. He may have a 32” inseam
The SAS 1290 is just mega amounts of fun and so capable 😁
I must book in and review the more money friendly adventure bikes soon! Cheers
@@redangrevival So many good bikes to choose from atm. I can think of several I could buy immediately, but first it has to be a SM.
@@alexmorgan3435 We are spoilt for choice. The SM is definitely a great start
Does anyone tried top speed?? On mine so far it is only 205 km/h due to rev limit on 6th gear. But I'm on the early stage of engine tearing. Hope it will let go when exceed 2000km .
If you keep testing these adv bikes I may have to try one to see what it's all about though it goes against my better judgement LOL
Haha 👍 Sorry Mike am I giving you the itch!! They are amazing machines, so much fun and practical as well. You will need some restraint if you start testing them out!! 😁
How can you say it one of the best ADV without a long term test ride? It's a very good bike, always has been. Nice review.
Thanks glad you liked the review 👍 Yes ideally I would like a lot longer test ride, however it is not always possible to get the bikes for long enough. Perhaps one day soon I will get a long term loan bike 🤞
You do know the engine is the same engine as the speed triple sec tuned
No idea why you would turn the awesome triple into a twin..really no idea! Good work tho pal.
@@benkelly2190 Thanks that is very interesting to hear from an owners perspective. Good luck with your choice, it is a great bunch to choice from!
I would like to add, jumping back on my GSA I didn’t feel let down. The GS has a sure footed confidence enspiring way of handling. It can still be thrown around and as a long range touring bike long term owner ship is probably better..
Thanks for that Ben, really interesting to know 👍 I often hear people say that when they jump back on their GS they feel right at home again!!
I might add....the rally explorer "matt khaki" is actually £19.4k on the road....
👍 yes that is correct. The £17,700 price shown at the beginning of the video is for the "Rally Pro" model.
Have seen quite a few reviews by now, and you're the first one to say it feels lighter than the gs...
Oh, well.
I like it just a shame it’s way too tall for me at 178cm
Hi, yes same I think it is perhaps a tad too tall for me also! I would go for the Rally Pro version, with a little less weight and width so high up from that 30 Litre fuel tank.
@@redangrevival I’ve always wanted a 1200 triumph but the old ones are way too heavy for me and tall. This new model has of course participated successfully in weight watchers. But still too tall for many
@@raulmorell7540 👍 Yup they have done very well reducing the weight. But yes the Rally models are very tall.
The GT models are easier to handle.
To me it is also my favorite looking (adventure) bike ... but too high for me as well as for you, isn't it ? The GT Explorer will do !
👍 yup the best looking in my eyes. Yes it is a tad tall to be honest, however I think with the seat in its lowest setting it would be OK. I quite like high up riding positions, just have to be careful when stopping haha
The GT would make more sense, however I just love the look of the Rally.
Rather have a 1290
👍 Fair enough I understand that! It would be a very close call for me.
Hai
Hello
Awesome 🤣😂😃😀😄
Holly Lolly Molly 😙😙😙
I always fallen in love with triumph motorcycles line up 🤍🤍🤍🤍
Handsome Bloke 🥰
Just too much money for a bike for me you can have a just as much fun on less than half that cost, dare I say even a quarter of that cost makes no sense not for me my friend 😊👍
Fair enough, and I think you are right on the fun part 👍 I suppose if you have the money and want the newest most technically advanced bike then its perfect!
It is a sight to behold in person haha Cheers
