This can be difficult. I've had similar difficulties myself in the past. It's a mixture of unparenting, and separating meshes. Maybe I'll do a tutorial sometime!
Splendid tutorial MediaWay!! 😃 Although I must admit that things didn't quite work out right for me. As soon as I add the armature after naming the parts right, the parts of the car get dislocated and form wierd angles.... Also, if I import a rigged car and add the benzier curve for it to travel on, the car just teleports miles away.... I used Blender 3.5 but after witnessing these errors I installed Blender 2.93.0 but I still see no change.. I searched online a lot but found no answers. Any ideas???

I have the same thing happen to mine. Did you ever figure out how to fix it? I have the latest versions of Rigacar and Blender, so that can't be the problem. But I'd sure like to know how to get those bake parts to work.
@Stephen Pearcy I had the same problem so I tried downloading older version of blender (2.93) and it works perfectly fine even with the latest version of rigacar (7.1). So I think it just doesn´t work with the latest versions of blender.
Animation works but I want to adjust the timing of end frame from 250 to 180 to speed up the car... but keyframes not shown in the timeline .....please help

I follow along the tutorial but my problem is that the steering motion is a little jaggy when on steering.Its like not linear motion but not everywhere on the curve.Any ideas?Thanks for the video!!!Awesome work.
@@MediaWayUKLtd Thanks for the reply!My resolution was already 100 as you mention in the video.Finally I solve the problem.I had extrude the curve a couple of times.The jaggy motion was exactly over the new vertices.I dissolve the extra vertices and the motion became perfect!
For some bizarre reason, the right side plates on the rigacar rig are huge in comparison to the left wheel plates. How can I adjust those so that they are the same size? It makes the steering look bad as the overall turning circle of the right wheel is much larger than that of the left.
Hi Blippedy Blop - I am totally stumped by your problem. Never heard of that before! I can only suggest you restart the tutorial and follow the steps carefully. Make sure your car is oriented via the -y axis. Update your graphics card drivers. Make sure you have the latest versions of Blender and Rigacar. Hope that helps!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I'm trying to animate a car with camber. But because of the camber, even tilting the manipulators parallel to the wheels, they continue to rotate along a horizontal axis. Is there a solution to modify the axis of rotation of the manipulators so that the wheels rotate correctly? Thanks
I think that the rig a car addon doesn't have the facility to do this. It may be that you either need to hand animate, or buy a plug in. Have a look at the Car Rig Pro add on - blendermarket.com/products/car-rig-pro-blender-kit - although I can't advise on this, as I haven't used it myself.

I've followed this tutorial a number of times now. When I bake steering animation, I basically get nothing and when I bake wheel rotation, I get a ton of keyframes, but no rotation. The graph editor confirms that all the rotation keyframes stay along the same position in the timeline. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
the one problem i am having is when the car is drifting round a sharp curve, the speed is constant and i want to slow my car down while drifting and then speed up when it finishes, but playing around with the curve editor I can't get it to work properly
Try adding some keyframes for the speed as the car moves around the curve, and then moving them backwards and forwards in the timeline to adjust the speed.
@@MediaWayUKLtd thank you. I think I was overthinking it too much and got myself into a muddle trying to edit the bezier curves of the 2 points on the curve of the road.
Update: I followed the tutorial step-by-step, but when I clicked bake, it gave me an error, stating that the frame number must be int not float, when I enter start and end frame value into the left bottom popup properties window, it bakes, but the wheels does not rotate or turn. any ideas? I'm using Blender v3.2.0 Update2: I downloaded v 7.1 of the addon, it partially worked 😄, the error didn't appeared again, but the wheels still does not rotate or turn. thank you

Whenever I select the path for the car to follow it moves to someplace random, and when I try and offset the car it moves in a completely different way.
Baking it doesnt work in 3.1, and 2.8 the addon its self doesnt work

Are brake models necessary for the add-on to work? My model doesnt have brakes only body and wheels

Hmmmm.. Tough one. Check the origin point on your model. Attaching an object to a curve is a bit quirky sometimes!

The latest version rigacar 7.1 works only up to blender 3.3.

Hi George. Try increasing the resolution of your curve. I think the default is 12 steps - increase to 100.

it may be perhaps that the scale of your model is not 1, im pretty sure it has to be all scaled to 1 for rigacar to work

Update:
I followed the tutorial step-by-step, but when I clicked bake, it gave me an error, stating that the frame number must be int not float, when I enter start and end frame value into the left bottom popup properties window, it bakes, but the wheels does not rotate or turn. any ideas?
I'm using Blender v3.2.0
Update2:
I downloaded v 7.1 of the addon, it partially worked 😄, the error didn't appeared again, but the wheels still does not rotate or turn.

Whenever I select the path for the car to follow it moves to someplace random, and when I try and offset the car it moves in a completely different way.
