I don’t just like it, I love it. I have been collecting white linens for years and I also inherited a large batch from my mom. I recently went through them and separated out lots of them to use for junk journaling. So thank you so much, Luise, for your very precise tutorial. I think I am ready to experiment. You are so very talented and I appreciate all you put into your videos.
I am so excited for my amazon deliveries today. I ordered 6 oxide ink pads and on ebay I bought a lot of assorted white fabric and lace. I cleared the dining table for dying. I feel like a kid on Christmas!!!
Luise, you wondered how to pronounce Villainous. It is pronounced much simpler than it looks - Vill-a-nus. I enjoyed watching your use of Distress Oxide Inks for coloring fabrics. I am a painter and fiber artist and I do the same thing but with thin acrylic paints. With acrylic I have to dampen the fabric first or the paint won't move. Then, I apply the paint, scrunch and spritz. Gravity takes the paint down to the bottom of the wrinkles. If let to air dry there won't be strong contrasts along the wrinkles. I use old metal baking sheets in the oven on a low heat. Acrylic paint has no problems in the oven. I don't know about the Distress inks. Experiment, experiment, experiment. And continue to have fun.
Luise, so now I know how you get your papers and fabrics to have this effect. I just think I’d have so much hanging out with you in your caravan. What I mean is, I think we’d have a blast together and would spend so much time laughing when we try different things. A Happy Happy New Year to you and your “hubby.” “
I LOVE watching you Luise! You are so much fun and have such a wonderful spirit. I have learned so much from you! Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
I had been wanting to play around with oxides, Inks and lace/fabric for a while now, this video is exactly what I had in mind! Thank you for sharing 💚 I can’t wait to try this out. 💚
At the beginning of your video, the small folds in the fabric you mention, are called “pin ticks.” They are often used in heirloom sewing, and easily made with a straight stitch sewing machine with a regular preserve foot, although a specialty foot can be used. The fabrics can be vintage and there are also new fabrics made for those who do v heirloom sewing, in white, beige, and other pastel colors. If the artist only has narrow laces and wishes ro have wider laces, a small zig zag stitch on the sewing machine can be used to join them, or if the machine only dies a straight stitch, the narrow laces can be attached easily to plain fabric with a straight stitch. So, it can be fairly easy and quick to combine fabrics and laces to make larger sections as desired. When newer fabric is used, the thread used to make embroidery or lace might be polyester or rayon, which might not take the due in the same way, which might even be desirable. To determine the content of the fabric, lace, thread, there are instructions on the internet for song a “burn test” to determine fiber content. The smell and ash of each river has its own characteristics and only a tiny piece is needed for testing.
Amazing,!!! I loved the paper it looks very "other worldy" I mean like the land of wizards and fairies🧙🧚♂️🧚🏿♀️🧙♂️☺️ I have not yet used fabrics. I have to find some now. I just got some lace things to use for gell printing, which I have also never done. I am very excited, there are so many different techniques to explore🤓 Thank you so much for showing them!! Oh in case you don't know it yet "batik" = "tie - dye" 🙂🌻🌄
This is going to be fun!!! I have been doing strips of paper so now that I have this work area set up I’ll do some material. Thank you Luise and right away I saw a bunny with his paws up over a board hanging on. Not a hamster. I started laughing when you saw it too.
lol.... it is Vill-an-us is the proper way to say Villainous (it means, Cruel and Wicked)... I love your accent and would have loved to hear how you say it... love this video... thank you
Hi Luise! Wonderful tutorial. I love how the oxides react with water. Tim always says oxides sit on the surface but inks soak in. That's probably how you could get such different colors on each side of the fabric using the oxides. I get so excited watching you play around with all of it. Thank you for sharing! 🌹
Luise Thank you for all of your experimental effort, showing us these beautiful dyed fabric pieces! Gotta say, the fabrics you used were gorgeous before and after dyeing! I'm excited to see how you use these pieces. Thanks for every one of these little tips and tricks!
Thank you so much for sharing your process with us!! By the way, I think that to say “like so” is perfectly fine, especially when you are teaching!! Your English is better and more correct than some native speakers!! Beautiful effects on your fabrics!! How fun! 💕
Thank you for doing these experiments with fabric it makes it easier for all of us to imagine the outcomes from these varying techniques. I like how you explain and walk us through each step and idea. Wonderful!!!! Hugs from MN.
These are such amazing techniques! I love the effects you got in the end & the intense coffee is super cool! I was thinking this is like tie-dying with TH oxides… GENIUS! 🥰
These tips and tricks of how to stain fabric and lace are amazing. Your English is coming along so nicely. You are trying so many new things and a new language. Thumbs up to you
Thanks so much for sharing these techniques Luisa. You are so informative. I also love your little giggles and sighs when you are excited about what you’re seeing. Love it.💕😻🤩
Fabulous technique..fabulous colors. Absolutely gorgeous. Your English is getting better and better. You pronounced “pistachio” in the correct Italian way with the “ch” as a “k” sound. The American pronunciation of the “ch” is with a “sh” sound. Both are correct. I’ve got to find me som3 fabrics that will work for this. Thanks Luise, for taking us through the process. 👍🥰❤️
Hi Luise! Excellent video and excellent results!! I like that you took us along for the entire process, and you gave great, simple instructions to follow for success. I love how the blouse piece of fabric turned out.....so very beautiful!! Good job!! TFS Happy Creating! Samantha
I use the oxide sprays for fabric and paper...I dye them in the throw away metal baking dishes. I've found that if I don't rinse them out when I'm done, that even if I use dylusions, tea, coffee, etc....there are little surprises of oxide ink on my projects. It's kinda like not cleaning your gelli plate and getting excited about the grungy edges from past pulls.
Hi Luise , amazing, beautiful very interesting. I bought some white lace because I wanted to dye it purple but I didn’t know how . Thank you for showing me how to do it , with purple oxide. Great video . Loved it 😍🥰😍
These were simply marvelous outcomes Luise! Your timing on this too was perfect because I am wanting to dye some fabrics. You gave me some great ideas to go play with now! Thank you so much!
I think that was a bunnies face and ears dyed into that fabric, lol. Wonderful video, very interesting to see how each piece came out. Love the colors and the grunge. Thank you!
Luise Thank you so much. I tried your technique of fabric dyeing. I found your instructions so easy to follow and I have some amazing papers as well. Thank you again so much for showing us how to create something beautiful out of our supplies. 🥰😍
I just cleaned up my studio and hands from dying paper scraps and big sheets of paper with Distress Oxide but it looks like i'll be looking for some beautiful fabric and dying it! This is so wonderful!
This is an amazing video! Thank you for showing us how you get such beautiful fabrics :) I just bought my very first Tim Holtz Oxide inks and now I can't wait to play around with them and some fabric. These turned out very cool.
This tutorial is so fascinating. I don't have the distress oxide inks... only the regular distress inks so I don't know how that would work. I guess I'll just have to give it a try.
Wow Luise what an amazing video! fabulous teaching, and what an artist you are!I'm telling you people would have paid good money for that tutorial, but you have shared from your heart you lovely lady, thank you .. wonderful tips, and I too love fabric dyes, you are always amazed how it turns out, lots of love with thanks from the UK xx
This was an amazing video, Luise!! You gave me some great advice and tips on how to use the ink pads, but also what not to do, along with all of the "whys"! Thank you very much!!!
Hey Luisa I had a journal idea for you…you could do a journal themed ‘through the eyes of a child’…I so love your ideas and have applied many of them to my journals…thanks so much beautiful lady for the effort you put into your channel 😘😘
Luise...once again you have shown us how to be experimental! I truly loved the unwrapping to see what was created! Thank you so much from one of your fans in the U.S. I can't wait to try this. And "like so" is used here as well.😀❤
Fun results! I’m feeling inspired by this. Thanks for sharing! Also, Does anyone know if you could mordant the fabric so it is washable and keeps the color?
Agree with Bonnie about 'Like so'. the purple colour sounds like vil-an-us, hope that helps you out a little. I think you may have another hit here like with your scraps, we will be seeing everyone doing it. Since watching you i have started to buy oxides rather than the inks. Thanks for showing so many things that i just love. Also i hope that you got a message i sent to you on Etzy in an order. Much Love x
Such wonderful color effects and great fun and ….just love watching you enjoying this adventure, you are so inspiring and an amazing person to share with others. I felt quite dreadful today but I’m so happy to have found this wonderful video, has lifted my spirits and thank you for bringing joy and inspiration to this world!!! Especially my world ! I’m inclined to put in just barely warm oven ..
Very cool.. I do not have liquid inks, but have tried dripping a paper that I moved ink from a pad to, then spritzing water to make drips…. I also coffee, tea and avocado dye! Thanks, Luize!
Wow, so beautiful !!!! I have to try this, thank you, thank you so much!!!! Love ❤️ love the fabric and the paper two. Can hardly wait to get started !!! ❤️❤️❤️!!!
Your videos are always so informative and full of happy surprises 😅 I’m trying to find some help ‘dyeing’ my own embroidery floss using distress sprays and Lindy’s sprays and magicals. I’ll be using the threads for slow stitching and it’s most likely that pieces won’t be washed, but some will so I have to be sure that the color will stay on the threads and not wash out. For example, I have a very plain denim blouse that was asking for slow stitch on it, so for that, I definitely need threads that will hold their color. I made some gorgeous threads this morning and thought the colors were set in when I steamed them. But I rinsed them and most of the color came right out. Wondering if you have any solutions off the top of your head? Thank you for your time! Xo
Luise, this is so cool. Thank you so much for showing us how to do this. !!!You are a very good teacher and you explain things well!!!! I will try this as soon as I'm able to purchase some oxide inks. I'm trying to gather up supplies now so I can start trying my hands at junk journaling. I never knew about this until we went into COVID lockdown, and then I found so many videos on YT for it!!! I have been binge watching them, trying to learn, until I actually can try once I have what I need. ( I have had pneumonia since the end of January and am now finally starting to feel better. Still don't have much energy but each day passes it gets better although I still have the dang cough!) Bless your heart for being such an inspirition to folks! Your a very interesting lady! 💜💜💜
The paper is unbelievably beautiful! I think I am even more excited by the paper than I am by the fabric, lol!
Thank-you for sharing this technique. It’s wonderful. Saying “Like so” is perfectly fine.
I don’t just like it, I love it. I have been collecting white linens for years and I also inherited a large batch from my mom. "Like so" is uncommon but perfectly good English! And I have taught college English.
I love using this technique. In very small quantities I have used my microwave to boil colors into trims with very similar effect.
Good morning Luise (from Arizona, USA). You are such a great teacher and artist! Thank you for yet another wonderful video! God bless 🤗
I am so excited for my amazon deliveries today. I ordered 6 oxide ink pads and on ebay I bought a lot of assorted white fabric and lace. I cleared the dining table for dying. I feel like a kid on Christmas!!!

Never, never be afraid to demonstrate anything as Pam says it's all good!!

Actually if we are trying to be fully correct.... The lines in the blouse are called "pin tucks"
always a lesson in "be bold, don't hesitate just DO IT" from you, lady... oh goodness... SO wonderful! thank you for this.
"Like so" is exactly correct the way you use it :)
Seriously? This language is driving me crazy
Amazing,!!! I loved the paper it looks very "other worldy" I mean like the land of wizards and fairies🧙🧚♂️🧚🏿♀️🧙♂️☺️

This helped me a lot on dying fabric for my journal. Thanks!!
This is going to be fun!!! I have been doing strips of paper so now that I have this work area set up I’ll do some material. Thank you Luise and right away I saw a bunny with his paws up over a board hanging on. Not a hamster. I started laughing when you saw it too.
