I just bought 84 Charing Cross Road. I love editions that don’t have slip covers. Those are beautiful! Thank you for sharing! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you get to them. Me too! I love being surrounded by unread books 😃
Have you seen the movie? It’s a wonderful representation of the book. I love it too. When Helene gets her first book in the mail her reaction is just fantastic.
I have never heard about Slightly Foxed before, but looking it up now, it sounds incredibly interesting. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! =) I have such an extensive TBR, and have zero problems with that! haha 😊😊
So glad Samantha gave you a shout out. I was not aware of your channel. I can't wrap my head around a zero tbr. And like you, was so grateful to have plenty to read during the chaos of 2020. No need for a physical library or even a bookstore, I have my own library. 👍📚😁
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! I love having lots of books to choose from, and find them so comforting to have around me. What channel is Samantha? I’m not sure I’m familiar with her and would love to check it out (did you mean Summer at Quaker cats?)
@@GinaStanyerBooks LOL. In some of my tag videos and in my Writer's Journey Episode I have photos of me, but I enjoy being a mostly faceless mysterious voice. :)
Hi Britta, Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate the welcome and the nice words. I’m such a fan of your channel, I feel a little giddy that you stopped by :)
I'm SO SO grateful to you, Gina, for recommending the 84 Charing Cross Road movie. I had no idea there was a movie and I totally loved it. I'm not sure which I adored more...the book or the movie! :D I just finished Letters to Michael from SF and it's going to be one of my favorite books for 2022 for sure. I just ordered two more SF editions (Rosemary Sutcliff and Dodie Smith books) and if there are any more you can recommend, please let me know. (Period Piece was a great one, too!) Which of the little paperbacks would you recommend most? Many bookish hugs! xoxo :) P.S. I've got to give the podcast a try! I also recommend Tea or Books? podcast with Simon and Rachel. I think you'll love it!
Thanks Gina! I think I love the movie even more than the book, it was just so well done and had such a fantastic cast. I am definitely adding Letters to Michael to my WTR list. I haven't read any of the SF paperbacks yet, even though I bought a few LOL....
Oh man...I’m going to buy more books now aren’t I. I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy more books. Oh well, my TBR has never reached zero in my entire life so I might as well.
I like the simple elegance of the book designs.
Me too. They really speak to me.
84 Charring Cross Road! Loved Ann Bancroft in that movie! I will have to check out Slightly Foxed! Thanks for the recommendations! 😀
Wasn’t she fantastic! I love the scene where she receives her first book mail. Such a great movie.
Will check out Slightly Foxed. I adore 84 Charing Cross Road. And the Audible narration of it is fantastic.
Have you see the movie? It’s a wonderful adaptation.
@@GinaStanyerBooks no. I will have to check that out. Thanks.
