Yiquan Golden Era, Master Yao Zongxun Exclusive Part 1 (edited by Shifu Changrong Ph.D.)
Master Yao Zongxun (1917-1985), was one of most important successor and excellent disciples of Grand Master Wang Xiangzhai. He trained Yiquan under Grand Master Wang Xiangzhai in 1937. He came to fame in the 1940s with great conscientiousness and hard training in Yiquan after training for only three short years. He gained great favor with Grand Master Wang Xiangzhai at the time. He was granted the name of “Jixiang” in 1941 by Grand Master Wang Xiangzhai with the great expectation that he would promote this art in the future.
Master Yao Zongxun advocated sports biomechanics, modern anatomy and athletic psychology as a theoretical basis in Yiquan training. He thought that martial arts practice should be combined with scientific theory. He had the courage to bring forth new ideas and constantly absorb the advantages of modern boxing into his training and entire teaching career. He studied modern sports science to enrich his knowledge in his traditional Yiquan development, effectively mixing modern and traditional techniques.
Later in life, Master Yao Zongxun had also offered and shared his Yiquan training method with the National Swimming Team, the Beijing Football Team, the Beijing Track & Field Team, the Beijing Weightlifting Team and the Beijing Shooting Team as a reference and application in their training. Before passing away in 1985 due to cancer, he established the Beijing Yiquan Research Institute in 1984 contributing greatly to the study and propagation of Yiquan. Also, his classic book, Chinese Combat Martial Art; Yiquan, was published later around this time.
The following video, from the private collection of Shifu Changrong Ph.D. It was filmed by Master Yao Zongxun back in 1979. The result is a precious resource for Yiquan practitioners today. This video displays extremely high level techniques in this particular school of martial arts. It is a classic demonstration of Yiquan Stances, Testing Power, Fraction Step and Release of Power by Master Yao Zongxun.
Master Yao's release of power is so rapid that it appears explosive. Observing him in this video, one can see how excellent he really was, even in his 60s. Please comment below and let me know your thoughts, opinions and questions. I am would love to hear what you think. Peace & Love!

Love this. I've also enjoyed many videos of his two sons I've found on youtube.
I wish there were more Yichuan instructors in America and especially, near me so I can have partners to practice with. The system is much more direct and clear than a lot of Tai Chi, Xing Yi and Ba Gua-- which is still often veiled behind opaque traditions and nuances of Chinese culture that don't translate easily for Westerners.
The Yichuan of Wang Xiang Zhai is an elegant synthesis of traditional Chinese practice with "Western" science and methods-- and from my perspective is a natural fit for Americans- it just needs a wider audience in the USA. Thank you for spreading awareness and keeping it alive.

Hey my friend, you are welcome. Very nice comment, you are right that Yiquan is more direct and clear than other internal martial arts. Will keep work on it, to reveal and discover all internal martial arts 🤝😊

what Westerners don't get is the yin-yang energy so that the left hand energy is to be visualized connecting to the right foot and the left foot to the right hand. So that way the upper and lower bodies are yin-yang as well as the right-left are yin-yang. So you visualize the energy flowing in the yin-yang directions like licking a 9-volt battery.

Hi. 👋 I don't know if this is because of the quality of the video, but it seems to me that he too, like Han Xingyuan in one of his videos, makes little movements in Zhanzhuang. But Master Yao's movements are very much smaller. They are that little that I'm not sure whether there is a movement at all or if it is the quality of the recording. But I think it's a movement .... What do you think?

    • @lineagemartialarts7910
      @lineagemartialarts7910  3 роки тому

Yes, it is my friend, There is small moving in the Stance training, Master Yao’s Yiquan more neat, and subtler than Master Han.👍

@@lineagemartialarts7910 Did Master Wang Yufang also do it? I didn't see it of any of her videos (maybe I didn't watch carefully enough ...).

Yes, she mentioned in some videos. This method is just one of the aspects of Stance training, but it’s important.

where can I find more information on these small moves in stance training?
I have just been taught how to do them, but did not find anything in my books so far so I am a bit confused, as I have been practicing mostly allowing the form to do its thing and relaxing the body, calming the mind.
What I was taught: It is like the arms and legs expand with a ball inflating in between them, and then press the ball.

I feel very worried that taijiquan is copying this style cause it’s really similar and this style have attack move more than taiji
