The bit about cells is news to me. I love to practice zhan zhuang and am totally mystified by it. I am 75 and began 4 years ago. Dabbled in martial arts before but this was my first serious practice, and have since added ba duan jin and a couple of short tai chi forms. Currently I do 30-45 minutes of a medley of zz forms (including the ones shown in this video). It feels like a massage, relaxing and enervating.

I began practicing JamJhong forty years ago. And will continue until it's time to go. All my students practice standing. It is the first thing they learn.

He has got the eyes of an absolute TIGER but his whole facial and bodily affect is relaxed and sympathetic. It is very hard to get those two things happening as your "normal". And notice.. this says NOTHING about his level or style or anything (and da, I know he is a legend :-). It's just remarkable.. he must have accepted so much pain standing day after day. Remarkable.

My teacher is the son of Han xing qiao. Han was the teacher of Yao. 8 years he taught yao. Yao loved the younger brother Han xing yuen. They drank and liked many of the same things. Hxq was there when the name yiquan arrived. He was there when master Wang revived zz. Motion in stillness is not just a phrase or poem. The zz is in the action of the typical movement that it represents. It is endless motion. If you practice zz, by all chances you are probably not fortunate enough to have proper instruction. 90% of yiquan is now external. That is if your method is to construct the physical frame of zz you miss the point. Zz is the action of the typical motion involved. Begin with ju. Arms going up. And they keep going up forever. It is not holding a posture. Think about the truth. Feeling- shape- phenomenon. That is the truth of life. We are alive and we sense and feel. That is natures way. “I think” Kung fu is the opposite. It’s external. Yiquan is internal. We begin with feeling and ask “ how does this arm rise”. To benefit from zz you need transmission from a teacher who knows . And he must know and have ability and have the method of transmission. Hand touches hand. I stood for 10 years in the Beijing manner. Then I met the hans. Master Han practiced from youth to old age at 96. He said he could hold the state for 2-3 minutes. No one ever alive can hold it for an hour! Han was legally and formally adopted by wang. Only him. He lived with Wang for 15 years. He fought and demonstrated for Wang. He taught for Wang. It is only to say you might want to consider his opinion about zz! If you can do it for 3 minutes you are a master. Do what? Hold the internal condition of quan fa. In the state of Jin for 3 minutes. This is yiquan. The other way is external Kung fu, everything Wang tried to correct. Yao never understood it. Wang and he got into an argument. Yao said he advanced the art by creating two states! Wang said, you haven’t realized anything I’ve taught you. And thus most of yiquan is now external. Just as xing yi was when Wang made his corrections.

One way to understand this saying is that through continual training in jam jhong the student digests his own ego, man is his own worst enemy.

"More people should be able to benefit from it. That would be the best."
Oh yes, the famous it would be beneficial for all and all of humanity. But it's not free. Most courses and internships are often too expensive for everyone to benefit from. Offer me a symbolic cost for practicing Yi Quan and I will devote myself to learning and practicing. I will conscientiously, determinedly commit to learning this practice.

Me Cui is probably one of the less expensive masters that I've ever met. And if you consider his skills as a teacher it is worth paying for it. This beeing said, are you yourself considering that you would work and give your knowledges and competencies for free?

@@Mitch32Bo193 Exactly. People expect stuff for free, but don’t realize the teacher has to eat and pay rent and nurture a family, too. Quality instruction SHOULD cost some good money in my opinion.
