    THIS WORKS! A few years ago I was plagued with hip flexor tendonitis. I'm an avid outdoor cyclist and had to give up riding until it healed. Two different PTs suggested exercises, stretches and ice -- all of which I did religiously. They also mentioned the massage technique shown in this video, but almost in passing ("oh, and you can do this too"). After several months of that with very little progress, I turned to Dr. Google in desperation, found this video, and decided to give it a serious try. In just 3-4 days, 1-2x per day, the pain was GONE. I was amazed! The pain seemed to melt away each time while I was doing the massage. A few years later, it's still gone (99% -- I can ride again and everything else I want to do) and I will turn to this massage technique if the problem ever rears its ugly head again. By the way, follow their instructions exactly and rub as hard as you comfortably can -- you'll feel a little pain but if it's too painful then back off. Just a few minutes a day made the hip flexor tendinitis melt away!

    You guys are great. My right leg is about a half inch shorter than my left but I noticed when I run I have to keep my left leg from scraping the ground but a good mile into my run my legs even up and I even feel taller after my run. Could this be a tight hip flexor?

    Thank you for your videos. You guys are always fun to watch. I thought I had hip tendonitis but I have pain in my TFL not directly on the psoas. I was a professional ballet dancer years ago and tried to go back to class a few weeks ago. It hurts to work in turn out and now I have some acheing on the sides of my hips where the joints are when I walk a lot. The TFL has been sore off and on for years and neither massaging or strengthening the surrounding muscles seems to do anything but make it more sore. Do you have any advice for me? Thanks! :-)

    Hi guys, thanks for the great info, this problem for me has become chronic now with the rec fem tendon. It's so bad I can't even stand on it at work fo a day without severe pain. I'm a chef. I will try this massage your doing, but not sure if it will actually heal my issue. Question is, will a cortisone shot help it to heal, I'm am at the desperate stage of what to do. Thanks and will appreciate any more advice.

    The origin of the rectus femoris m. is only really on the anterior inferior iliac spine. The top "bump" is where the sartorius m. attaches, not the rectus femoris.

    I had hip tendonitis in my right hip six years ago, but instead of treating it properly, i just stopped exercising. I started regularly exercising again a year ago and since then i have had this horrible pain on the right side of my lower back and a slight pain in my right knee. My hip also pops when I do certain exercises. Could the lower back / knee pain and hip popping be due to the untreated hip tendonitis?

    I have some inflammation in (one of?) my hip flexor(s). It hurts the most when I raise my leg straight, and almost doesn't hurt at all if I first rotate my knee inwards. So weird... and frustrating!!!

    Hi, my son is 15 and an elite soccer player and is having issues with his hip. He doesn't feel as much discomfort when he raises his leg as when his leg stretches behind him is when he feels the sharp pain. Is this hip flexor tendonitis? He has had his largest growth spurt this year...would that compound the problem? If it is chronic what can / should we do?
    Thanks in advance

    I have pain exactly where you pointed. However, it only hurts if I walk a lot or stand for a while. I had PT for 3 months and I was better then I went boxing one day and ran and it started bothering me again, it wasn't so bad until I did some Pilates a few days after and now I'm in pain when I walk more than 30 minutes or less maybe. My PT said she didn't know what else to do with me other than start back at one so she discharged me. I'm so sad now. Do you think I should continue exercising and boxing? Also does this mean I have this condition? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    • @mjhmr8
      @mjhmr8 Рік тому +1

      @@Albertouy unfortunately I had a couple of injuries years later, but what helped was physical therapy for sure . Just be consistent on that
      Basically exercising and doing the appropriate stretches as well. What I found is that when I don’t exercise for a long time all my injuries start to bother me again
      So remaining active to one’s level is important

    Could you offer any advice on why I feel excruciating pain in this area while I squat (ATG)? I've tried to push through it and it now happens when I just go to parallel. However, I really don't feel much if any pain while sprinting, it does hurt to bring my knee to my chest though... I have been stretching a lot and even though I've gotten more flexible, the pain was gotten worse. I'm thinking I should stop stretching it, for a while at least? Is there any reason why it would hurt in the bottom of a squat, because they shouldn't be extended at that body position, right? Does it maybe have something to do with the quads being flexed?

    17 months ago, I had a hip injury (hip flexor strain). I didn't have an "oh, crap!" moment... I just went hard on the illiptical at the gym and woke up the next day unable to lift my right leg. 3 rounds of PT later, I'm definitely getting stronger, but my hip still hurts in this exact spot. Please give me some hope out there that this one injury which occured at age 24 will not last forever or cause lasting problems!!! I just want to get back to my workout routine. I'm not a crazy athlete, I just like to do some uphill walking. I've seen several PTs, PAs, an ortho specialist, a nurse practitioner, just got an MRI (waiting on the results), but nothing is conclusive. Please tell me it won't always be like this!!!

    hey guys that was helpful thanks. I have a question although. I'm a weight lifter and i have hip flexor pain when i deep squat and it gets worse when i squat heavier. how ever, it doesn't bother me that much when i run. once I'm warmed up I'm ready to go. but the squat is the issue. I've not been squatting for 2 weeks now but the pain still there. any advice i can get to make it go away faster??? thanks

    • @simplyalif

      Dunno if you still have that issue, but your hip flexor pain is due to glute weakness and or tightness .... So your hip flexor has to compensate to complete the movement

    I believe this is what is happening to me. There's no pain when jogging or walking. But it always happens when I'm sprinting. In my 40 yard dash I usually run a 4.8-4.9. Now I get a pain and I found myself turning in 5-5.2s which is horrible for me. The thing is, the pain is the same as you described- when lifting my leg up, so I'm thinking it does have to do with my hip flexor but the pain is more on the inside side of my thigh up near the groin area. So it's still where the thigh connects to the pelvis, however it's not quite outside. It's more of an internal pain. It's been like this for a few months and I never thought anything of it until now. It's really limiting my speed when sprinting and it seems like it weakens my leg when I bring it upward while sprinting causing me to run slower. Any tips from anyone? Thank you so much to anyone who can help. Id love to be back healthy again on the football field and on the track at full speed like before.

      +TCON42499 Did you manage to find out what was causing the pain and if so how did you treat it? Your symptoms are almost identical to mine and is preventing me from sprinting at max speed. I've been experiencing this for around 3 months and it would be great if you can explain what's happened since you commented!

    • @TCON42499
      @TCON42499 8 років тому

      +Danidandanny lots of stretching and light conditioning. It's been a long time since I've had a problem with it but just make it a habit to stretch it and keep it active, but don't do it too much because I found out it's also an overuse injury, so if you do too much stretching and sprinting it'll only get worse

    • @danidandanny2908
      @danidandanny2908 8 років тому

      Okay thanks, good to hear it hasn't been bothering you recently. I'm not sure whether it's my hip flexors or any muscles around the groin area causing the pain, but it definitely sounds like it could be an overuse injury

    I have hip flexor tendonitis from 18 1/2 years of running in the Air Force. I had two labral tear surgeries and now I'm just a mess. The tendonitis and bursitis is making it so I can't run anymore and it's devastating to me. Other than a 20 minute massage with my fingers, is there any other "miracle" treatment that can eliminate my tendonitis? I'm completely desperate. Thank you.

      Jennifer Johnson sorry you are going through all that...
      I would suggest doing mobility and light strengthening exercises like bridges with and without resistance bands, single leg bridges, planks, side leg raises and hamstring curls with a yoga ball. Basically strengthen the muscles around it so the affected areas dont have to work as much. You want to have strong glutes, core, and hamstrings.
      I’m going through something similiar to a lesser degree and i hate it :( i’ve incorporated these exercises and so far its helped a lot, not 100% yet but hopefully soon!
      Goodluck to you
