That's really a hard work. I am really learning from you a lot. I really enjoy watching your daily garden work.
I don't have a big lot like yours but a small raised bed and working on small flower bed.
Next I would like to see is how to deal with stubborn weeds in organic garden, with less effort.

Great information, thank you for the follow up. I just watched your video on constructing your hugle bed last night as I researched to see if this was a good choice for me.
This video was perfect timing. 😊 I think I will be using a small area of my garden to try this method out.

Thank you! It's a lot of work, but this has been my favorite part of the garden. I plan to film a re-build video showing how I re-pair/gap fill, cover, re-plant, and re-start the decomposition/microbial activity for the sections that are exposed and will take a couple more years to decompose. I'm hoping that can post by the end of the 12 months since the original build (roughly November/December).

Great video. I have the following question, why didn't you build a trench in you hagelkuktur to help with irrigation? How much do you have to water your bed? I want to start a small one but now I don't know if to do it your way or the one with the trench. I want to build one thst I won't have to water the plants much or at all. Thank you for sharing.

Fantastic questions! My choices were due to issues with that site. This back section of the property is filled with rocky soil which is not the case anywhere else. We've tried and tried to grow food or other things in this area, but even the trees that are already there struggled for a long time. So, instead of digging down, I decided I wanted the pile to decompose on top to add value in this area. It's also was less work because I didn't have to dig up the really grassy weeds, move the soil, or worry about disturbing tree roots. To answer your other questions/thoughts. I have to water this alot more than I thought I would. I don't water at all unless I'm starting seeds, but then summer requires daily watering if I want to grow anything. I normally stop watering, let whatever cover crop die, and then I recharge the mound with fermented bokashi compost scraps in September and restart. If you have easier soil to dig in than I do, a trench is a great idea. The only reason not to trench for you is if the soil in that area is already healthy because digging will disrupt the health of that existing soil location.
