The funny part is Nigerian artists are not even reacting, they’re too busy cooking up their delicious bangers. To make it look like an important issue, Cameroonian artists and influencers keep saying it’s a culture war. Have you noticed any major Nigerian artist respond? In this case the action and reaction is coming from one side. They didn’t respond also because those who started this are also not worth their time. Ordinary Nigerians are also not reacting because they’re dealing with bigger issues.
When Nigeria brings war, y’all will know and cyberspace would be on fire. We’re all about Africa and would love to collaborate but some people are still living in the 50s fight for independence, the PTSD from colonisation is real!
    Long live Africa!

Music is not Cameroonian, Nigerian, American or Malagasy. It's Universal, a language of emotions which represent different feelings, and barge into the soul with no boundaries or limitations. Fan base shouldn't be demanded, it's earned through hard work, and consistency. In Africa, Nigerians are known for hard work and are consistent in the creation of quality music content. We are talking about Nigerian music being used in a Hollywood big box sequel in "Coming to America 2" where Tiwa Savage and Davido's music featured with Davido performing live himself and then compare that with hearing the call for Nigerian music to be banned in a tiny market Cameroon. I am laughing with a glass of wine. It is like saying Toyota breaks into the US market and someone wants it banned in Cameroon. Nigeria has always been in the bad books of many Africans, and lately African Americans. Nigerians are hated because they are step above the rest. Many African countries have complained about Nigerians taking their women, their jobs, their entertainment industry etc. Nigerians have been hated for their swag, their beauty, intelligence, culture, success and never-say-die attitude. Many Africans think Nigeria is the only impediment to their success, that with Nigeria out of the picture, the world can see their talent, potential and swag. Nigeria owes nobody any apologies for being successful and charming - it is who we are ! Many countries fear Nigeria's domination and outright colonization of their culture - as speculated in some quarters.
What many people don't understand is that Nigerians see every opportunity or country as a market where as long as there is demand, there must be a supply. As long as we can provide requisite skills that are needed or wanted in the demand chain, which is not filled by the host community, we fill in. It doesn't matter how much hate or envy is thrown at us, we bow down to no one. The earlier people around the world begin to understand that Nigerians are beginning to understand who they are and what potential is embedded in them to succeed, the better. Nigerians are just beginning to unleash their skills for all we care, anybody can say whatever he/she wants. Shame on blacks who are complaining about Nigeria's domination but will keep shut at China's take over of the world.

Cameroon has had a war for 5 years and counting not once did u guys talk about it.. except yemi alade and Stella and that was only done last year..
But end sars protest Cameroonians were everywhere..
In the past Cameroonians have fought all Nigerian historical wars.. it was not Ghana etc.. if u studied history u will know am not lying
Then we talk of a United Africa.. NIAJA YOU GUYS ARE THE Worst brothers.. God punish Satan.. I really wish African map could be restructured again and Cameroon taking very far from u guys make we rest... brothers keepers my foot...... greedy people wuna chop the fame...... wickedness and greed... when the whole continent will turn on u we will see how u will survive..

I can't believe presidency in Cameroon has the time to pay attention to the cancelation of a show. And its so funny because Naira Marley is not even among the first 3 biggest artist in Nigeria lol. You people are still dragging this topic and many Nigerians will not even care about this topic because Nigerians have different fanbase from different artists, so a lot of Nigerians will see this topic as another news that they will hear and forget quickly. So if your government want to ban Nigerian music, pls make it fast, lol Nigerians don't even care.

Well to believe, there is a lot you have to understand about the political instability presently in Cameroon. I see many Nigerians here say we don't care...if Nigerians in Nigeria don't care, i believe Nigerians in Cameroon should, and there are about 3.5million of them. We africans are so full of hate for ourselves, A is not mature enough to politely tell B you are wrong here...you should walk like this rather, and B too is not mature enough to admit i am wrong here lets walk like this from thence. Anyways, I applaud you guys expanded and mature approach to the analysis.
One point must be corrected, Nigeria never banned or disrupted foreign artists, the said NBC regulation of 1999 under Obasanjo, regarding local content was specifically on TV /Radio Broadcast and licencing rights. On the cultural aspect, the standard for Nigeria local content specifies that programmes and advertisement for family belt shall be devoid of sex or overt sexual behaviour, nudity, violence, bloodletting, smoking, alcohol, drug abuse, denigration of womanhood, offensive, lewd or vulgar language, expression and presentation, etc. The same provision spelt out family belt to be between the hours of 7pm and 10pm daily (a period when the family as a unit is presumed to be together to watch television). The NBC focused on sanctioning the private stations in Nigeria but
not the public stations and the foreign free-to-air channels, which do not cost the
viewer any subscription to get exposed to. The govt, in the then regulation also expressed doubt on the implementation of the act.
Note that was in 1999, when the major source of media was radio and television, you could imagine how possible it would have been now, with the advent of internet accessibility and social media everywhere. The then regulation died a natural death because there were lots of challengers to it.
So let's get it right. We never stopped nor regulated free-to-air channels or sources, which shows, clubs, social media, parties etc belonged to. The target was within the family belt period.

I'm cameroonian, but I think banning Nigerian music is really stupid. Firstly it's not the best way to make our artists more competitive. They just have to work more and produce music not only for cameroonians or francophones. Secondly thanks to Nigerian artists, African music is known all over the world. We are becoming more interesting. I'm realy proud when i listen to Burna boy or to Rema in a party, rather than american artists. Our time is coming. So we just have to continue in that way : producing good music and promote it.
