but listen how smooth it sounds still without all the technology!!! I love the "Old" sounds of music being played like that or the crackle in the LPs!! Love oldies!! Oldies Por Vida!!!
I have to agree. This song is right up there with all the other Doo Wop hits from then. WAY better than Tejano music. Not sure why the people liked that Tejano genre better than what you guys played.......or maybe it was just a different generation by that time (50's and 60's were obviously a lot different from the early 80's). I'm speaking from that first Selena episode i saw in the series.
My cousin, Ramon Martinez, drummer for Los Dinos, died a few years back in Corpus Christi. They have some great old LPs, I had them all signed by Selena at Tejano Rodeo in Dallas, 1992, the ones with her dad on the albums.
My Husband was one of the Original Dinos back in the late 50's. Guadalupe Barrera. Abraham Quintanilla took his place . Selena Quintanilla Perez's father. My husband passed away nearly 6 years ago.
This is my Grandfather on the bottom left corner, his name is (RAY) Ramon Villarreal also known as (COTY), He started out with Ray and the Jesters, which later became the backup band for Los Dinos. This is what inspired him to become (Ray and the Blue Satins).

I knew the Dinos when I was in school at Roy Miller High School. When I was in the Air Force in Topeka, Kansas they came to play at a dance and we met. I knew Bobby the lead singer as he was a good friend of my cousin Matt Tapla. They gave me several 45 records of their songs. I still have them. Bobby Lira is the only ORIGINAL left of the Los Dinos. The other Original members have all passed away. Abraham Quintanilla was not an original, but he was inthe group at one time. Years later he bought the rights to the name "Los Dinos" from the original surviving memmbers.
That would be lovely! Though, some people may say that he’s just doing it for money, using Selena’s fame to benefit his own career, which is sad. Abraham may have been a bit strict but I don’t believe he’s this bad person that many try to portray him as.

well as aberham had stated the band name was "the gumdrops" which was him and two others as Aberham joined as a third singer cause the previous leader of the group had left and they were looking for new talent to join them andthey chose Aberham cause he could sing a bit and he was good at playing the guitaand they also sung mostly Du Wop music at that time and that was the year of 1955 when he joined (he droped out of school to join the band full time), then after it became "los Dinos" in which he got the name from a 50s tv show in which a part of it had a street name called dino or something and their second inspiration came from an Italian neighbor of theirs in which he told them that the word "los dinos" was the equivalent to saying "the guys" "its just the guys/bro's tonight". (this is all information gathered from Aberham and various interviews of his, please correct me if i am wrong i would like to have better knowlesge of Los Dinos origins and Aberhams involvement)
