I LOVE YOU GUYS! 😘
This whole record is stellar! Underrated big time
Right on!
In my top 5 of all time
This album is incredible for sure!
Underrated band, underrated album. Met Jake at a gas station in Kansas while Badlands was there on tour, super cool dude who happens to be a legit car guy!
The late, great Ray Gillan
R.I.P.🥺
However...he knew had aids and kept having unprotected sex with groupies. This the problem Jake had with him!!! Great voice. NOT a great guy!!!
It’s about a change in the season and new love that heats up the winter. Yes it starts soft and then rocks your face off. That bass and riff makes me speed in my car.
I have this record on vinyl! Great band!
So do I. I have the Japanese import version of the CD as well.
Wow! Of course it looks like most of the 80's videos. They're mostly bad. Hard to believe you don't consider this song memorable though. Jake E Lee is one of the most innovative and original guitar players ever. But we're all entitled to our opinion.
Jason Simmons, damn right he is!!
What do you expect from this twit! ?
Sorry, that video is awesome! Jack E. Lee and Ray Gillen, what else!
That's cause normies love WAP and shite like that - real talent is something they struggle to recognise.
You should also review Badlands song "Dreams in the Dark"
...and "Seasons"!
And the last time too.
No she doesn't deserve to hear anymore Badlands.
@@c.willharden9589 I hear ya
Jake E Lee is a badass
Jake Lee is a helluva guitar player. Sadly, their lead singer passed away several years ago. Badlands (pronounced Bad Lands) is just one of a slew of bands (Tangier and Blue Murder immediately come to mind) who had the unfortunate timing of putting out music just before grunge came along and stomped all over hard rock. Go and listen to some of Badland's other music without the music videos. Ignore the video noise. Much better that way. They are a good band (and did I mention Jake Lee?).
Before grunge stomped all over Hard Rock. Man, you couldn't have said it any better...
That was the summer of ‘89 when Badlands broke, right after I moved from Wisconsin to Texas. Yeah, Badlands, Blue Murder...another band that came out just at the wrong time was Saraya. That summer, I listened to the eponymous debuts from Badlands, Blue Murder and Saraya. All are on my iPhone, and get heavy play.
Grunge just sucked all the fun out of rock. I hated that period. I never got the appeal of Nirvana. Kurt was a terrible singer, and an even worse guitar player. Somehow his lack of musical talent was interpreted as “tortured genius”. The only thing being tortured were our ears listening to him slaughter the three chords he’d play per song.
I understand that the hair metal era had gone way off the rails-every band with long hair and tight pants was recording a ballad to get on MTV (when it actually played videos). But Grunge went to the extreme.
I remember Valley of the Kings being the hip clip of the week on MTV. I loved those albums. I was already a big John Sykes fan. And Jake E Lee, of course. Both are huge influences on me as a guitarist.
Smooth beginning, but a stronger build up like "Bohemian Rhapsody." Badlands - 9.9/10
"Aah, Stick it!"
You got to realize that videos were bought, paid for, and directed by the record company. The band itself had little to do with how the footage looks. I can tell it doesn't appeal to you because it has no catchy pop chorus and is definitely not a radio type of single. Badlands was a blues based metal type of band who were wiped out after only 2 albums because the scene had changed to alternative music and they also had line up changes and management battles. then the singer died of Aids in 1993. Now Jake has his Red Dragon Cartel band that you can react to
You know what, badlands really super grup, the best vocalist, best guitarist, best drummer n best bassist... You right choice
I was 16 years old old pulling in to the stadium parking lot , to go watch Ozzy,, in this song came over the radio,. Lakeland Florida 1986,, watching all of us get out of the car and you can hear the music rumbling from inside the arena and then you get down thete to smell the sweat of metalheads banging
The band Jake E Lee formed after Sharon fired him from Ozzys band..
I remember him saying in an interview that Ozzy always wanted him to play just "high neck solos" and didn't appreciate his talent. Or something to that effect.
YES!!!! Such an awesome song by an incredibly awesome band! Good job on doing this reaction!!! 👊🏾
Awesome Badlands Jake E.Lee and Ray Gillan
Eric singer the drummer is the current drummer in KISS. Jake E Lee was the guitarist on Ozzy Osbournes bark at the Moon and ultimate sin albums.
Didn’t bobby Ron Deneli play drums?
Great song!!! Great Talent!! Just watch it again about 25 more times then you’ll get it…some people are a bit slower than others…😂🎸
that base line that guitar its a winter storm so good
As a guy who was a teenager during this era i think i can speak to it. Mostly for us guys we stuck to heavier metal. Thrash, etc. But the girls back then loved these type bands. I had a GF who wanted to be a producer when she grew up and she had every single metal album that came out back then from the smallest band to the biggest. So she'd play this stuff for me when i was at her house. Never seeing what the band looked or dressed like i wasn't prejudiced by say seeing a poison video where they were all covered in make up and looked like girls. And thus i got turned on to dozens of great bands and songs. Look, it was the 1980's. The videos were campy, cheesy and so on. But shut your eyes and what you are left with are talented musicians who cranked out great songs. Songs i still listen to to this day. Bandlands definitely to the front of that line. This album dropped just before my 16th b-day. I probably wore our 3 cassettes in my walkman keeping this on rotation.
Ray,..... tremendous talent! Gone way too soon. RIP
Badlands id a hidden gem from the 80s
when you started your review after the video and you compared the legendary Jake E Lee to GNR and Motley crue, I stopped watching you review. Jake is one of the most incredible songwriters and one of the greatest talents to ever grace metal. NOTHING about what Jake did on this album or nowadays has ever sounded like anyone else. have a great weekend.
Great album
I've lived Badlands for 30 years and never tire of this band. It's a shame more don't embrace
“Dancing on the Edge” from their second album rips. Very high energy.
all top shelf players.., jake e. played with ratt and ozzy, ray gillen sang with sabbath, gregg chaisson is an amazing bassist and of course Eric singer with KISS..., helluva pedigree..,
Drummer is Eric Singer that went on to KISS.
Ray is one of the most beautiful Songbird's, Jake E Lee is the best,
The whole band.
Now this is music children...
Just close your eyes turn up the tunes and fly... 🤘💜
The singer Ray was my old friend. He passed away! I have old basement tapes!
Any way we can get our hands on some of those ol' basement tapes? :)
Greg Galasso I have been working 80 hrs a week for a year and I am super sorry I didn’t pull them out but I know I’ve got them. Please reach out to me thru email and I can see if I can get the recording to you. It really is super cool to hear him as his voice range was opening up. He was such a great person and his parents were so cool!
That's awesome dude !
Dirk Riley I’ve gota post the songs we had in the can just before sabbath took him .
Can you make a UA-cam video with those tapes? I think that would be interesting.
Ok so I just finished watching your entire reaction. This is the problem with some of the videos from the 80s/90’s. Yeah, looking back at the video, it is a bit on the cheesy side, BUT, musically, this kicked ass for me. But I also grew up in this time period, so I knew what was out then; what was good, what was bad, etc. No disrespect, but I feel like a lot of the younger generation watches these older videos and ends up “listening” to the music with their eyes. The song gets dismissed because the video might be dated; and that’s unfortunate.
You really should listen to their album and NOT WATCH A VIDEO. It might change your mind.
"You really should listen... and NOT WATCH A VIDEO. It might change your mind." This would weed out a lot of the new "comedians" also. Nicely put brother.
Trust me on this,
Listen to this whole album.
This is the mighty Jake E. Lee at the height of his powers! Lots of people didn’t like it when it came out because they expected Ozzy style music,
And Jake is a completely deep blues man.
When I fist heard it (the day it came out) I expected the same as everyone else, and it took a minute to shift gears, but when it clicked……….
BANG!
One amazing album.
Two first albums are epic!
What a great album. If you listen to the record you will be addicted. The Jade song is amazing!
Great band! Great song!
Ray Gillen had one of the best, if not the best Hard Rock Blues voice and you couple that with Jake E Lee's Guitar....Outstanding. Ray passed away much too soon. The band was killed by grunge ultimately. Ray sang with Black Sabbath and Jake was with Ratt and more notably Ozzy Osbourne for two albums. Jake is one of the best soloist and came out before Guns-n-Roses. Slash has his own unique style and is great at feel as well. I would suggest listening to them without the videos. Yes, this was part of the cheesy late 80s videos. For the cheesiest videos watch any by David Lee Roth from his solo career.
Listen to 3 Day Funk, Last Time or Silver Horses off Voodoo Highway
This album: Rumblin' Train is my favorite tune, but you could pick any song off this album Hard Driver, Seasons, Streets Cried Freedom, Dreams in the Dark (No 1 picked video by the listeners for the most consecutive weeks on MTV)
Like #13..Gr8 reaction Pink....Happy holidays as well
bae, sadly Ray Gillam(vocalist) passed, prolly 18 yrs ago😥😥😥❤🖤
He passed 28 years ago. You drunk ?
Bad lands last time is another one of their songs that made it to MTV, I think the lead singer passed away in 93 or 94, somewhere in that time frame.
Jade's Song is the intro to this.
Not going to remember it?
I've never been able to get it out of my head since the 80s!
SMH
RIP, RAY GILLIAN
The guitar player Jake e Lee went on to play for Ozzy Osbourne and some of the greatest songs he's ever written
This was after he played with ozzy
THAT, is the problem with videos. If you watch the 'Bark At The Moon' video by Ozzy, you will get EXACTLY the same vibe, (also Jake E. Lee on guitar). The videos stepped ALL over the songs of those days. I get more of a Robert Plant/Coverdale feel off of Ray's voice though. It is NEVER the same until you see these guys live, in an up close setting though. (Too bad Ray is gone, and Badlands are no more). GREAT MUSIC. I enjoyed watching your take on it though.
I'm so happy to see you react to a truly badass group beautiful song
Pearls before swine..
Harsh....
...but true.
badlands highwire is there song
Well... i think you will never know how to enjoy this, Kid...
Ray Gillen's isn't a voice you'll soon forget!!
I love this album. Ray Gillan was an amazing singer. Jake E. Lee is Ozzy's forgotten about guitar player (I like him way better than Zakk). Replacing Randy Rhoads in Ozzy's band was no small task. This album is much bluesier than anything he did with Ozzy. I bought this album on Vinyl when it was released. To this day I still love it. Great surprise to see you do this song.
Zakk eats s**t compared to Jake and Randy for sure. He is too reliant on mushy tone and flabby sounding false harmonics.
Shout out to
JOSHUA
INDEED!!!
One of the most
Under rated bands.
Came out to late...
...then dude died😞
🤣🤣🤣🤣 My condolences
Badlands- one last time !!!! Please
Well, it was the 80s lol. Funny she seems to do almost no research on any band. But I'm very glad that she's honest about what she likes and doesn't like. So there's that.
You should do "Sailing Ships" from Whitesnake
Ray is in my top 5 Vocalists of all time !! 🤘🤘
Ozzy's former guitar player and the current drummer for Kiss
Sade - Is It A Crime (Live Video from San Diego)
I love this song. And review Black Sabbath the shining, Ray Gillen.
She doesn’t understand the music.
Check out The Winery Dogs
I have never forgotten Badlands from the first day I heard them. You're young and that's sad. Badlands was sooo good and sooo underrated, probably because of what you said. I would love to see what you actually think is GOOD. I will check out some of your other reactions, but this was disappointing.
How about Skid Row Quick Sand Jesus or Tora Tora Walking Shoes!
Why do I start sweating when Jake hits those solo?
Dont. Fly. Away ? Ihear her cry out n in cold dont fly away
Typical okay so where does the sitar typically go in a rock song? because that wasn't typical at all.
It was a seventies vibe band with a harder edge to it.
and understand something rock and roll is and is always been about the exploration of the guitar, there will always be a guitar solo in hard Rock.
Seasons
This band has a little bit of a Led Zeppelin rift to them, Badlands that is!
Ithink you might like Beth by Kiss and three video's by this beautiful lady brightens a cloudy Tuesday .
Go live Gorgeous!
Jake has played with Ozzy's Ultimate Sin album.
And Bark at the moon
I bet she doesn't like Led Zeppelin either🤔
Hay Mrs pink... I want to tell you my birthday is this Saturday is it possible you can make a birthday singing video for me plz..and remember my name is Mike I will be turning 43
No , you don't deserve to listen to any more of Badlands.
You totally diss them and then say you're open to hearing more of them.
Do let us know when you're rock album drops.
Do Rumblin Train. This is one of my favorite albums of all time! It’s sexy as hell😎🤘🏼
NOT GENUINE?????
WTH?
Good luck finding and buying this album, they'll never print it again. It'll never be on Spotify it'll never be available on iTunes or apple tunes.
It's very sad but Jake doesn't get anything from this album financially.
Look it up and he'll tell you the story.
Fuckin’ Atlantic man. Even if Ray was the reason why, there’s no reason the other three guys shouldn’t get paid.
Seemed formulaic for sure! Classic rock by the numbers #RoadTo100K #PinkNation
The video, yes.
Comedy review, she just doesn't get it......... If you love your 80s metal you'll be belly laughing.😂😂😂
WTF RU TALKING ABOUT? GUNS N' ROSES?
MOTLEY CRUE HAIR?
WOW, MAYBE SHE OUGHT TO HAVE HEARD "JADE'S SONG" FIRST.
check out rumblin' train from the same album , i doubt you'll have the same reaction about this band
And Devil's Stomp.
Yep - you don't get it.
🤦🏻♂️ not memorable? What would you consider “memorable” then?
Ray Gillen had one of the great voices in rock and roll. Badlands followed his stint as lead singer in Black Sabbath.
Ray + Jake E. Lee were a match made in Heaven.
It’s cool that you gave this a chance-hopefully at least one person who watched this video will be turned on to a truly great band.
As to your review-you might work on starting off getting the band’s name right. That would help your credibility exponentially.
Cheezy? Lol. You obviously have no clue to what's going on with this song. Don't confuse or compare today's music with yesterday's music. Guns and roses and Motley Crue hair? They were called hair bands in the 80's for a reason. Apparently you don't hear the Whitesnake and Led Zeppelin influence. It's okay
Stop lying pink metal head!! You were banging your head the whole time, but your a little off at first it was melodies and then it kicks straight into led Zeppelin 101, and they studied it hard, that's just straight up kick ass rock n roll, did you hear the guys voice,???? Everytime Jake the guitarist took off you were like o.k!!! If you're gonna forget it,listen to it a couple more times, stoned preferably,if you don't smoke start,(joking....kinda) but honestly this is really the only song I like by them and it's because they straight nailed it on this song.🤘🤘✌️
REACT TO POPPY X OR VOICEMAIL TRUST ME IT'S NOT WHAT CHU THINK
I wouldn't follow you nowhere
The singer was very good. Like the darker maybe, witchcraft feel to the lyrics. Jake E Lee is ok on guitar but his high pitched sound is off
Great band and song but not their best. Please react to Badlands Dreams in the Dark. It's a fantastic song. That really shows off Ray Gillians vocals.
You’re right. It was completely cliché.
Nice reaction. I like this tune, however Badlands, like so many other 80s bands, were just doing their best, yet sub-par Zeppelin imitations. Just my opinion. Peace!
