I just learned that Itachi, because of the depression from killing his clan, would put himself in a genjutsu every night that would create a world where he didn't have to kill his clan. For example, the filler episode where he was making eggs for Sasuke.
The fact that Itachi was so overpowered that most people forgot about him having an incurable disease that affected his mobility and chakra, and that he was partially blind from his mangekyo sharingan the entire series.
Yeah he is still top 3 strongest akatsuki while greatly weakened. He would probably be stronger than sasuke if he was still alive, without the rinnegan.
No I’m not convinced ... Instead of ruining his own brother, very sadistically and murdering his own clan, Itachi should have assassinated the one who ordered the massacre of his clan. That would have been a lot cooler. He could have killed Danzo - he was perfectly capable in doing so BUT he chose not to, out of his will. Instead he murdered his own people. He literally agreed with the plans of Danzo - a corrupt man and wanted to save an already flawed and corrupt system. Although he 'saved' his brother he arguably in one way did worse than kill him - He basically tortured his brother psychologically and physically and have him life-long trauma. And he betrayed his own people ... Don't get me started on Obito 🙄

For those who were wondering about important information given in the books: Shisui was attacked not only by Danzo, but also by an aburame member who Danzo kept hidden and had the special jutsu of controlling bugs that cause paralysis. Hence why Shisui was not able to defend and protect his eye, also due to the paralysis not lasting forever, is the reason shisui was able to escape. During the massacre, Obito’s main job was to handle the police while Itachi handled everyone else, including his father’s friend that Itachi absolutely hated. (The only person besides Danzo and the aburame member to cause Itachi this level of hatred/anger) After the massacre, Itachi got his revenge for shisui by using his Amaterasu to burn the aburame member alive along with all of his bugs, which the member used in order to talk and stuff due to the member being mute. The book is very insightful about Itachi and how he lived and what he thought about during his time at the village. It also gives the best recollection of the events of the massacre, such as Itachi using Tsukuyomi to kill his girlfriend by giving her a genjutsu dream where she grew old and had kids with Itachi. The only person during the massacre to receive a “natural” death. Also, I can’t remember if it is ever explicitly stated, but from what I remember, Itachi knew the Obito was not Madara since there was no way Madara could be alive, but knew it was an Uchiha who had seemingly passed away during the last great ninja war. If given more time in the Anbu around Kakashi, Itachi could have figured out it was Obito. Source: Day and Night books for Sasuke or Itachi? I don’t think there was any logic that Masked Man/Tobi was Obito. The most generous versions have to excuse about 50 years, and Obito had to become a fully grown man while Kakashi was still a teenager. I love Itachi, he is one of my favorite characters; but all his decisions remind me of the fact that he is in fact still a child. On top of being surrounded by morons for leaders.
I’ve never heard a story like Itachis in any movie or show ever. His character arc is so unique to me. It makes him special and that’s why he’s my favorite. Itachi is my favorite hero ever and Darth Vader is my favorite villain. It’s meaningful for Itachi to be in the same class as Vader when it comes to depth of character. Vader made it his goal to wipe out the Jedi because he wanted to save Padme and Itachi wiped out the Uchiha because he wanted to save Sasuke and the village.
I remember when I was a kid and shippuden was not a thing yet. I'd often fantasize scenarios where I'm in the naruto world. One of my frequent scenarios was always fighting itachi to stop the uchiha massacre. Looking back, it has become a very good lesson for me to not just see a problem from one direction but from all sides. Personally, if I were in the naruto verse and is in itachi's place. I'd definitely not join the coup but at the same time I wouldn't be able kill my entire clan and would probably leave the anbu and just let whatever will happen, happen. It'd definitely lead to a civil war where I'd fight for konoha but pull back my punches because I don't think I'd want to kill those that are close to me, though given the right circumstances I'd end up killing some. The uchihas would most probably lose and the name will be shunned by the people of konoha, which would begin my hatred for konoha. Still, I wouldn't be a criminal and kill innocent lives or would want to change konoha by starting a war or something like that. I'd just leave konoha and start a new life at some small unknown village or just live by myself somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I'd come up with a fake name and a fake backstory. As well as change my looks a bit, so people don't know who I am. Create a whole fake identity. Living a normal life, maybe fishing for a living or farming or maybe even start my own ramen stall. Anything that'll make me forget about my ninja past. I'd live like that until I die. People would not know what happened to me (my real identity) and just recognized the death of my fake identity.

Naruto was the first anime and show I watched because I saw it on a poster of itachi and my uncle introduced me to it and then I kept watching it and itachi was my favorite character even if I thought he was a bad guy and then when I learned he was a good guy I was overjoyed but I was sad when I learned his backstory and I gained respect for him and after that itachi became more special to me
I never really understood why he did what he did even though most people pretend to understand. Following Sarutobi and the elders bringing up their plan, I would've been "pops, unc, get y'alls kunai and shuriken. Sarutobi trippin'. We finna light this shit up." Family comes first.
Itachi's decision was very brave and he felt it was crucial for peace. The radical Danzo wanted Itachi to just eliminate the clan instead of letting Hiruzen negotiate, but Itachi went along with this option. Itachi's got the true guts as a shinobi.

Well eh, I mean some of his actions don't make sense. Like why did he torture Kakashi when he, yk, could've just knocked them all out? I agree he's decently written (especially in shippuden), but in part 1, he wasn't. Part 1 vs Part 2 Itachi feel like different characters.

For those who were wondering about important information given in the books:
Shisui was attacked not only by Danzo, but also by an aburame member who Danzo kept hidden and had the special jutsu of controlling bugs that cause paralysis. Hence why Shisui was not able to defend and protect his eye, also due to the paralysis not lasting forever, is the reason shisui was able to escape. During the massacre, Obito’s main job was to handle the police while Itachi handled everyone else, including his father’s friend that Itachi absolutely hated. (The only person besides Danzo and the aburame member to cause Itachi this level of hatred/anger) After the massacre, Itachi got his revenge for shisui by using his Amaterasu to burn the aburame member alive along with all of his bugs, which the member used in order to talk and stuff due to the member being mute. The book is very insightful about Itachi and how he lived and what he thought about during his time at the village. It also gives the best recollection of the events of the massacre, such as Itachi using Tsukuyomi to kill his girlfriend by giving her a genjutsu dream where she grew old and had kids with Itachi. The only person during the massacre to receive a “natural” death. Also, I can’t remember if it is ever explicitly stated, but from what I remember, Itachi knew the Obito was not Madara since there was no way Madara could be alive, but knew it was an Uchiha who had seemingly passed away during the last great ninja war. If given more time in the Anbu around Kakashi, Itachi could have figured out it was Obito.

I don’t think there was any logic that Masked Man/Tobi was Obito. The most generous versions have to excuse about 50 years, and Obito had to become a fully grown man while Kakashi was still a teenager. You can’t just make up spiral Zetsu as an excuse and then pull him out a year later for one episode…

Never was really into Naruto but this video made me want to watch the series. Itachi is definitely a very interesting character
he is the best villain, the best hero, the best shinobi, but most importantly, the best brother.
I’ve never heard a story like Itachis in any movie or show ever. His character arc is so unique to me. It makes him special and that’s why he’s my favorite. Itachi is my favorite hero ever and Darth Vader is my favorite villain. It’s meaningful for Itachi to be in the same class as Vader when it comes to depth of character. Vader made it his goal to wipe out the Jedi because he wanted to save Padme and Itachi wiped out the Uchiha because he wanted to save Sasuke and the village.
I remember when I was a kid and shippuden was not a thing yet. I'd often fantasize scenarios where I'm in the naruto world. One of my frequent scenarios was always fighting itachi to stop the uchiha massacre. Looking back, it has become a very good lesson for me to not just see a problem from one direction but from all sides. Personally, if I were in the naruto verse and is in itachi's place. I'd definitely not join the coup but at the same time I wouldn't be able kill my entire clan and would probably leave the anbu and just let whatever will happen, happen. It'd definitely lead to a civil war where I'd fight for konoha but pull back my punches because I don't think I'd want to kill those that are close to me, though given the right circumstances I'd end up killing some. The uchihas would most probably lose and the name will be shunned by the people of konoha, which would begin my hatred for konoha. Still, I wouldn't be a criminal and kill innocent lives or would want to change konoha by starting a war or something like that. I'd just leave konoha and start a new life at some small unknown village or just live by myself somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I'd come up with a fake name and a fake backstory. As well as change my looks a bit, so people don't know who I am. Create a whole fake identity. Living a normal life, maybe fishing for a living or farming or maybe even start my own ramen stall. Anything that'll make me forget about my ninja past. I'd live like that until I die. People would not know what happened to me (my real identity) and just recognized the death of my fake identity.

Itachi was the strongest Uchiha that ever lived. Stronger than Madara, Obito, Shisui, and Sasuke. Imagine being a child and witnessing so much death. Not only was Itachi forced to kill his family, friends, and everyone he held dear: but he had to carry that burden til the end. Not even Madara went through such pain. Itachi was a God amongst men. If you think Sasuke is strong, Itachi let himself die at the hand of his little brother because he knew it was for the greater good. It takes a special kind of strength, a strength that is super human, to sacrifice your life for the sake of a village that sees you as the enemy. Itachi was not the enemy, he was the hero the world needed. Forever in our hearts, Rest In Peace, Itachi Uchiha. "I will love you, always" ❤

Naruto was the first anime and show I watched because I saw it on a poster of itachi and my uncle introduced me to it and then I kept watching it and itachi was my favorite character even if I thought he was a bad guy and then when I learned he was a good guy I was overjoyed but I was sad when I learned his backstory and I gained respect for him and after that itachi became more special to me

Itachi's decision was very brave and he felt it was crucial for peace. The radical Danzo wanted Itachi to just eliminate the clan instead of letting Hiruzen negotiate, but Itachi went along with this option. Itachi's got the true guts as a shinobi.
