I beat sonic frontiers and it was an alright time and the story was quite good but the Eggman and sage dynamic was barely fleshed out in the story at all. Sure there was hints but not much. UNLEAS you read the egg memos which more than half of those aren’t about sage. Anyways I’ve beaten sonic unleashed many times before and liked the story but never felt emotional to it. Then I beat it again like 2 days ago and I actually started tearing up a little bit when chip was talking to sonic about being light Gaia and that whole scene. THEN I loved the game so much that as soon as I beat it I started a new game file again straight after and beat it again. AND STILL TEARED UP. That is the first time I’ve ever teared up in a piece of media and I had already beaten the game twice before that. Sage and Eggman just don’t have the friendship and connection chip and sonic do
The more I listen to this song, the more I begin to understand that it's less about the ending of Forces and more about reassuring the Sonic fandom that although the franchise has got its ups and downs it will always be a part of us and may lead into a bright future if we're just patient and thankful enough for whatever routes it takes. as a Sonic fan, if Im extremely honest I am already grateful for the franchise I've been a Sonic fan since I was less than 10 years old and I've always looked on the bright side of the franchise and appreciate what SEGA has done the characters in the franchise kept my sanity in check and helped keep my spirits up when I needed it, whilst I was growing up and dealing with tough times like the harassment from bullies at school and some issues at home that I had to deal with at the same time... thats why this franchise means a lot to me! so what if it has a bug here or there in their recent games? This song is so well written that it also fits a soldier returning from war. The first verse could be applied to any. Take soldiers returning from lets say World War 2. People back then lost a lot. Family, friends, their homes. So much happened back then. Sure the game fails at showing war but it’s there as a background. It’s used to build the story and Gadget’s character. I like this game for that reason. (Yes I know the levels suck but the story was ok)

Emotional, yet touching at the same time; this song fits Gadget the Wolf's personality perfectly. The song itself reminds me of my late grandmother; she died of terminal stomach cancer in 2014. The last time I saw her, she was at a hospital on the west side of my hometown of Columbus, Ohio; I hugged her one last time. A few days later, she died in her sleep; I saw her one final time in a funeral home.
This is one of my favorite Sonic songs. So inspiring and encouraging. Especially since in the game's story, Sonic and his friends have to fight hard against Infinite and the Eggman Empire for the Earth, and this song fits in well encouraging them to keep fighting and to not give up, even if they have lost Sonic.

Dammit, seeing these comments and hearing this song made me actually cry. They are right though. The Sonic franchise has been through so much, ups and downs, peaks snd abysses, but it’s still here. We the fandom are still here. Even decades after the first game made it to people’s homes way back in the early 90’s. Many other franchises have faded over time. But so long as we still keep supporting him, Sonic as a character and as a franchise won’t fade away. There will still be a light of hope.
After 6 years i can say... This song sounds like soldiers are going back home after the war. Injured and tired, but mostly happy that they made it through this mess... They saw their worst nightmares in illusions which Infinite made. But they were still brave and continued the fight until the end... After that they all come in one place and celebrate the victory!! With their families and friends. But someone celebrates this victory near the grave of soldiers...
I have had many things happen to me these past 6 years. The death of a friend of mine. Going from 4th to 10th grade. Going through a hellish 6th grade year where I hit my lowest point. I had to leave all of the friends I knew in my old schools because I had to change districts. It's been almost a year since I lost a friend to suicide. And it tore me apart. Listening to this song now makes me tear up a bit. "So much as happened, it's hard to bare. All you remember, has gone away. But you're still standing here." Gets me every time as I am still standing after all that.
Poor tails, when he thought sonic was dead all those months, he finally got someone he needed, a friend. Not a big brother, a friend. He was excited and relieved that his sonic was alive, but he still stuck by classic's side.

@@TRG_R17 That was a very different situation, Sonic wasn't outright beaten in a fight, Eggman used trickery. Sonic also specifically asked Tails to continue the fight, and Tails was determined he could win. And Sonic was revealed to be alive minutes later (in-game time), so it didn't even have much time to affect him. Here he literally witnessed Sonic get beaten through shear power alone, why would he think he could stand a chance. Here it took 6 months to reveal Sonic was alive, a lot of time for Sonic's "death" and for guilt to break him down.

Honestly Sonic Forses makes me really depressed. The level of hype 13 year old me had for this game was so high that words cannot describe and finally when that release came and I got home to play it... I thought it was good until I started thinking about the amount of potential this game had to be something truly amazing. This game looked like it would be something truely special and amazing but, instead just flooped hard.

Especially with to then only release Sonic Colours Ultimate the following year after saying that. Yes I understand that was developed by Blind Squirrel Games but the matter of the fact they said to only turn out to be a complete lie. Makes it hard to trust them after that. Hopefully I’m wrong and Frontiers turns out to be a masterpiece and every game after it is an amazing game and if so I will eat my words. For now, I’m going in with the expectations of the worst possible outcome. UPDATE 11/11/22: OMG I TAKE BACK WHAT I SAID ABOUT FRONTIERS BEING A DISAPPOINTMENT. I just finished Forces a week ago after playing it for the first time in my life a month ago....and it was not very good. But this song....this hit different. I haven't lost the fun I had with older games. Heck, I started Black Knight a while back and I'm having fun with that (not like Secret Rings, ergh)! The future of Sonic may not look all that promising, but with the success of the movie, the shift in management around SEGA, and the general positivity of the true fans, I'm...hopeful. This game was the one that got me into the franchise as a final straw breaking the walls of doubt. For me at least. Before that. It was always a touch-and-go interest in Sonic as a whole.
And then frontiers happened. Funny you mention Black Knight, since I think that, Forces and Frontiers have the best ending themes (Live Life, Light of Hope and Dear Father respectively)

Good music is one thing. Ratchet and Clank, the Ori games and Assassin's Creed all have good music so you are right in that sense, but Light Of Hope is a song. There are not many games with lyrical songs in them, much less one as good as that.
this song shows how there is always hope and you should never give up hope because hope will always be with you. So never give up and always find hope and there are always friends who can help you through the toughest of times. Trust me I learned it the hard way, you don't want to know how. But anyways back to what i was saying, just never give up and you can always find someone you trust to help you through it and they will help you, even though you think hope is lost there is always someone to help you your friends and heck maybe even your family members. Just remember to always keep trying and always talk to someone when you are feeling like hope is lost.

I’ve had it hard in life, but this song is one the reason why I keep moving on, even if some of the things from my childhood are gone.
This sounds like a song that would be in a Disney musical. When the princess and her loved one reunite after a long journey.
Dammit, seeing these comments and hearing this song made me actually cry. They are right though. The Sonic franchise has been through so much, ups and downs, peaks snd abysses, but it’s still here. We the fandom are still here. Even decades after the first game made it to people’s homes way back in the early 90’s. Many other franchises have faded over time. But so long as we still keep supporting him, Sonic as a character and as a franchise won’t fade away. There will still be a light of hope.

I have had many things happen to me these past 6 years. The death of a friend of mine. Going from 4th to 10th grade. Going through a hellish 6th grade year where I hit my lowest point. I had to leave all of the friends I knew in my old schools because I had to change districts. It's been almost a year since I lost a friend to suicide. And it tore me apart. Listening to this song now makes me tear up a bit. "So much as happened, it's hard to bare. All you remember, has gone away. But you're still standing here." Gets me every time as I am still standing after all that.

That was a very different situation, Sonic wasn't outright beaten in a fight, Eggman used trickery.
Sonic also specifically asked Tails to continue the fight, and Tails was determined he could win.
And Sonic was revealed to be alive minutes later (in-game time), so it didn't even have much time to affect him.
Here he literally witnessed Sonic get beaten through shear power alone, why would he think he could stand a chance.
Here it took 6 months to reveal Sonic was alive, a lot of time for Sonic's "death" and for guilt to break him down.

Honestly Sonic Forses makes me really depressed. The level of hype 13 year old me had for this game was so high that words cannot describe and finally when that release came and I got home to play it... I thought it was good until I started thinking about the amount of potential this game had to be something truly amazing. This game looked like it would be something truely special and amazing but, instead just flooped hard.
maybe frontiers will be the right direction sonic needed a open world game for a long time

Because if the past 10 years have shown me anything with Sonic. I honestly think this game will turn out to be a complete disappointment and as much as I wanna go in thinking it will rock our socks off, I can’t given how many times they’ve said “we are gonna make sure to take our time” and yet still put out something disappointing or a complete train wreck. Especially with to then only release Sonic Colours Ultimate the following year after saying that. Yes I understand that was developed by Blind Squirrel Games but the matter of the fact they said to only turn out to be a complete lie. Makes it hard to trust them after that. Hopefully I’m wrong and Frontiers turns out to be a masterpiece and every game after it is an amazing game and if so I will eat my words. For now, I’m going in with the expectations of the worst possible outcome.
UPDATE 11/11/22: OMG I TAKE BACK WHAT I SAID ABOUT FRONTIERS BEING A DISAPPOINTMENT. I’m currently 17 hours in the game and near the final boss and so far I’ve been having a complete blast from. I am so happy I was wrong about Frontiers being a disappointment!

I just finished Forces a week ago after playing it for the first time in my life a month ago....and it was not very good. But this song....this hit different. I haven't lost the fun I had with older games. Heck, I started Black Knight a while back and I'm having fun with that (not like Secret Rings, ergh)! The future of Sonic may not look all that promising, but with the success of the movie, the shift in management around SEGA, and the general positivity of the true fans, I'm...hopeful. And this video is just great. Thanks.

This game was the one that got me into the franchise as a final straw breaking the walls of doubt. For me at least. Before that. It was always a touch-and-go interest in Sonic as a whole.
And then frontiers happened. Funny you mention Black Knight, since I think that, Forces and Frontiers have the best ending themes (Live Life, Light of Hope and Dear Father respectively)
