    I really don't get why some people are saying this was a bad interview or that Joey is "cocky". Clearly if you're saying that Joey is "cocky" that means that you've just started to listen to his music, which is fine, but he is one of the realest there is, seriously.
    I think Pharell didn't talk much at the beginning because he was listening to what Joey had to say, you can tell he kind of recognises himself in Joey and being in his 20s. Now that Joey has a great base of content with a mixtape and an album etc... you can tell he really has evolved as an artist and like he said "before he raped on beats" and now he "learned how to make music". For me he's definitely in today's top 5 with: Kendrick, Cole, Isiah Rashad and I want to say Mac Miller but I'm probably gonna gate hate for that haha...
    (note: this is my personal top 5, it's debatable except for Kendrick).

    • @swipeduk
      @swipeduk 7 років тому +11

      Niklas Brag I respect your list but would you consider Earl Sweatshirt as also being a great mc?

    • @bragniklas
      @bragniklas 7 років тому +8

      Robin N oh yeah definitely ;) it's hard to only pick 5, one of my personal favourites right now is also Denzel Curry his album was amazing but can't put him on top cause he's still really young and hasn't proved if he can be consistent enough :)

      @bragniklas 7 років тому +4

      I'm kind of sad people feel that way... Maybe I'm just a fan so I can't really stay objective here but personally I feel that you guys (in the US) should be proud of this dude (I'm french). Maybe not in the beginning cause he got famous so early but a great number of his raps are what you can qualify as "conscious" but still make hits. He's a true Mc that speaks the truth both with style and manner. He talks about issues that a lot of rapper doesn't or even worth actually glorify. He almost never raps about being "hood" or drinking and fucking.
      Tbh he's just being himself and keeps true to his roots (beats are made by the pro era team). He can pass as arrogant because he's confident, there is a difference. We'll see when the album comes out, that's when we'll truly see what he's worth :) but yeah being "blacklisted" maybe is a bit of an exaggeration

    I feel like this is more of a lesson between teacher and student than an interview. The interview didn't really open up until Pharrel started talking. Pharrel was teaching Joey that his music should connect with his interviews just like Pac's music and interviews did. Like you could see the hunger, enthusiasm, and emotion in Pac's interviews and how it all goes back to his music, but it's not exactly there yet for Joey, so Pharrel was pretty much saying you're not at that level yet to diss Pac until you find a true connection with yourself and your music. And that all makes sense since Joey did kinda diss Pac a little while back.

    • @mj127871
      @mj127871 7 років тому +1

      Garfield Thomas that's the point, joey didn't provide any content at all, no depth the music or anything and pharrel tries to point joey out that he's not that interesting

    • @garfieldphillips3214
      @garfieldphillips3214 7 років тому +2

      the video consisted mostly of him speaking on why he wrote the music. The content was right there; the black experience and how he feels about it. Pharrell never said or implied that he was uninteresting at the end they were mixing a little bit better than in the beginning. however, that's usually how conversation is, you don't rush it because there is a process

      Garfield Thomas nah bro sorry but when the other guy asked "people need to listen more to you outside of the music" he was sarcastic.. pharrel also made the 2pac reference to hint that joey isn't that interesting in the interview.. furthermore he is saying that selling out like master p is not the way to go, referencing devasted.. you can just feel that pharrel and the other guy are searching for some depth explainaton of his music but when they recognize that joey doens't know what is talking about they just try to hint him all this shit.. i respect joey but I understand the interviewers point

  • @tomleh3722

    This is honestly one of the most real/leaving out the bullshit interviews i've seen in ages. almost everything joey says (because i'm white O.o) is so relatable. This new generation is on the raise!
    future looks good.

    This is how a quality interview should go! Yall so used to the interviewers talking so much. In my opinion, interviewers now speak wayyyyyy too much. Here, you get to learn about Joey. You get to hear him and sense his vibe clearly without being talked over or constantly distracted by an overhyped host.
