The name “military tattoo” dates back to the 17th century. It is from the phrase “doe den tap toe”, which translates into “turn off the tap”. By the way, maybe its good to know what the UN flag looks like ... its only the flag that recognizes all the nations currently in the world, You know, nations like Ukraine ...

Any idea why those buildings only were built in the early 2000s and not in USSR times? Western capital being invested into Russia. That same capital is now pulling out even faster than it went in. I guess Russians should start to ponder whether they really want to fly between Russian cities in planes for which there will not be any spare parts anymore and for which maintenance will hence be below standard. Of course, the first planes that drop out of the sky will probably be blamed on Ukrainian terrorism by the Putin propaganda machine, so they're probably just aiming for this to happen as an extra argument for mobilization.
It's always cool to see the world from a native's perspective, very informative as always. I would also like to add a small correction at 16:09. I believe that flag is Qatar. Bahrain has the same shape, but it's white and red.

[Do you like poetry?] The night came quicker than usual and it caught me by surprise. Before I found some shelter, the darkness dimmed my eyes. My panicked heart was racing, my legs instinctively took flight. I aimlessly ran in circles, in the horror of blackest night. In the distance I could see it, the form of a terrible beast. I could hear its claws scratching, I could see the flash of its teeth. There was no way to outrun it, cause it traveled on all fours. So left with just one prospect, I turned and faced the noise. The blade I held, had a faint sparkle, illumined from distant stars. The beast knew I would use it, as it stalked me from afar. My wait drug on for an eternity, as I firmly stood my ground. But soon it would be over, for I heard approaching sounds. Throughout my life, I purposefully planned, to never travel by night. It was the only way to miss the beast and avoid a deadly fight. Yet, life has a sense of justice, not willing to let me cheat those plans. From facing the beast who stalks me, from facing what haunts a man. A silhouette sprang out of the blackness, striking hard the first blow. I vollied back, with the tip of my blade, causing the beast to moan. Collapsing together, mortally wounded, the dawn began to break. I saw the beast that had attacked me, it was myself, in whom, I faced. About the tattoo thing, tattoo is one of those confusing English words that has two totally different meanings. In this case it doesn’t mean a tattoo like you have on your body, but a military tattoo, which is like a performance or display featuring military bands, often from all over the world, where they march and play drums, bagpipes, etc. It is a pretty obscure term really, but they are quite popular in some parts of Europe and Especially the U.K. And great channel by the way, as a westerner today it is so weird to see just how similar Russia is in so many ways.
I landed in Moscow in 1976 on an Aeroflot plane with my American high school trip and the quick descent hurt my ear so bad that it resulted in a busted ear drum. Can’t swim to the bottom of the deep end anymore or deep sea dive but the experience was still incredible. How many people visited Russia during the 70’s? Not many. Went to Moscow, Kiev (yes that Kiev) and Leningrad (yes it was called Leningrad not St. Petersburg). Saw Lenin in his tomb but it was a glass room outside of the Kremlin and they hit us with batons if we put our hands in our pockets (it was cold) because it was considered disrespectful but we didn’t know what the problem was!
I visited Russia in the early 80 s , when I was a kid, Leningrad, Moscow etc. Im from Sweden, not very far from Russia, even have Russian descent like 150 years ago. Anyway, it was a culture chock and I remember there was not very much on the shelfs in the store. Maybe its diffrent nowadays, more modern but I wouldn't visit because I dont want to support Putins regim and visit the country etc. But I do beleive the general Russian person is very nice and goodhearted...
I've never heard of a cat cafe but loved the concept. (Even though I can't call myself a cat lover.) Nice to meet your sister. And that view from your capsule was impressive!
Niki. Things this morning have changed a thing in Russia for you? You need to think about getting out now! they might just take you, right off the streets? better to be safe, not sorry. Niki, you're a good kid, war would ruin you if you live. So if you can get out? get out now. You can always go back but you need to get out ...now.
My sister and brother in law have traveled all over the world and St. Petersburg is their favorite city they’ve visited. I’ve wanted to visit Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok but that likely won’t be possible for many years still.
On the other hands, in the US... we are paying about 25% to 30% more of just about everything (except electronic equipments like TVs and computers, and laptops). Like this pack of 48 bottles of water (16.9oz/500ml) from Costco (my favorite store) went from $2.99 to $4.29 within a year. The funny thing is we have stores in the US call "A dollar Store" which sell everything for $1... however, now it is still called "A Dollar Store" but everything is now $1.25 for LOL.
How do you all feel about being mobilised tomorrow and being sent to the frontline as cannon fodder? Martial Law is also to be announced in Russia with increase prison sentences for evasion, surrender and desertion. Things just got serious for you guys.
Leave Russia Niki, there might going to be full mobilization and EVEN if Putin say civilians are not going to Ukraine, even at that best scenario, we know that he will at some point draft civilians too, soon or late it will happen. There is no return from now on and then it could be too late to make decisions
I'd say if you can get out it'd be better. I know though new apartment etc. War is pretty horrific and the ability to stay as you are is low, when they beat up recruits and abuse them. If they watch your videos they might extra pick on you.
Nice to see russian people are perfectly normal people like you and me . Keep up the good work ! Never made it to the red place, but would like to. My father made it in the early 80`s, but his motivation was because he didn`t succeed in 42/43. Drushba

So beautiful . Be proud as no large city in USA is remotely comparable to Moscow. I have been to top 100 cities in US and 49 states. Moscow, Singapore, Shanghai, KL have large sections that are so far beyond the US it is like NYC and SF was compared to the rest of the world in the 1950’s.
Niki, Thanks for the tour of Moscow, it was beautiful and very modern city, much like our cities in America only more modern, like space age. I was thinking: what if all our beautiful cities were destroyed in a nuclear war? What a pity that would be. I hope peace comes soon.

I see you met INSIDE RUSSIA. Cool. You both seems like great people. Greetings from Sweden
This was such a fun video. I really enjoyed the cat anticafe. The time concept was unusual, something you don't find here in the states. The motel looked really cool.
Glad you enjoyed your stay and your visit with your sister.
that would lose money on me. in one hour i would eat 20 cookies and 5 cups of coffee.
Thank you for showing the Cat Cafe and their unique business of helping cats find homes, plus charge by time not by coffee. The views from the hotel breath taking. The sound canceling headphones, I do the same when I use the subway squeaking and grinding metal horrible noise.
Loved that cat cafe!!! It was a cool concept of free food and pay for the time spent there. If that was the rules here in America, I would be broke! 😄
$3. per hour to hang out with the cats with free coffee vs. $7. Starbucks coffee to hang out with introvert hackers. Cat cafe is the better deal.
@@michaellockhart6632 Agreed! 😄🐈☕
Great blog from a very likable Russian. Thankyou.
Ты супер!!! Вот почему мы все тебя любим!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Niki....thanks for your great video. It’s really nice to see ordinary Russians doing the same things ordinary British people do. We share the same hopes and dreams for our family and friends. 🇬🇧
Cool premiere, Niki 💙 Enjoyed meeting your sister and am impressed that you can get along with a VARIETY of Russian vloggers 👍 UA-cam needs great connectors like you that could be Switzerland for us, viewers ☮️ P.S. Cats at the Cafe were adorable, too 😻
I would be very concerned about aircraft safety more than price of tickets. With sanctions the Russian aircraft can't get replacement parts needed to maintain safety standards.
Save yourself . Escape while you can
AWESOME VIDEO ! Thanks again Niki for reminding us of our human commonalities. Different nationalities...one humanity !
Not a good time to be in Russia ;) They can put you in their army. You should leave as soon as posible
I bumped into this site, and I am glad I did. You are great Niki!! I'm going to stick around. Gretting's from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada...
I loved this vlog! Very interesting seeing the scenery in Moscow. And, the very tall skyscraper buildings. Very impressive! That cat cafe' was pretty cool, too! Thank you!!
Nikki, it is time.
Please move from Russia. You are a nice kid, good heart, you should get to a safe place.
Please Nikki, stay safe!
6:56 "Moscow International Business Centre". I laughed so hard at that, beer came out of my nose.
Dont laugh , they can do business with north korea 😂
Ever heard of BRICS?
Or Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
"International" does not mean the US and its closest allies (almost all indebted and corrupt)
Fun video. I'm glad you were able to visit with your sister and friends. Sending peace-filled thoughts to everyone.
Mobilisation is comming!
Hello Niki. Thanks for sharing your journey to Moscow. I think it's beautiful, new and old. Have a great day. !!
I wish you could just leave Russia Niki, you are one of the very few russian channels i follow and i would hate if something bad happens to you, stay safe please.
Ye sure buddy. The speech just ended, they didn’t say a thing about mobilization, continue getting brainwashed.
Why would he need to leave?
Because army is calling
@@humanidee118 because of **gesture broadly** everything?!
Its his choice at the end of the day. I too follow other russian youtubers who are doing different things from staying, staying somewhere else, or just minding their business.
Thanks for those insights into Russian daily life, helps a lot to understand ! Greetings from Switzerland
Those downtown buildings in Moscow are really impressive. After watching this video, I pray for peace, Russians are simply living their lives like everyone else. By the way, maybe its good to know what the UN flag looks like ... its only the flag that recognizes all the nations currently in the world, You know, nations like Ukraine ...
Half the Ukraine are ethnic Russians ... Kiev regime terrorized them. Days before smo Kiev regime sent 100k troops on Donbass and began shelling them..
@@bobpadok5331 UN recognizes Ukraine as a sovereign nation. Not knowing the UN flag speaks volumes!
@@clausbohm9807 Serbia was souvereign too and lost Kosovo...USA troops occupy Iraq and one third of Syria...after occupations of Libya and Afganistan...Israel regulary go bing it's neighboroughs and Saudis occupy Jemen.
You can't play chicken around borders of nuclear superpower. As Usa imperium collapsing they wanna build blocks for new emerging hegemony of Russia and China ...it won't work and after Ukrainian disaster Thaiwan going to be greater one .
@@MisterkeTube even in USSR times, Moscow was the capital of the tallest buildings if you compare to Europe
I went to Moscow in 2018. I had an amazing time! Would love to go back.
It's always cool to see the world from a native's perspective, very informative as always. I would also like to add a small correction at 16:09. I believe that flag is Qatar. Bahrain has the same shape, but it's white and red.
Niki, I enjoyed your video, I never realized Moscow was so modern. Thanks for putting a human face on Russia and showing us that there are good people living there also.
Hope you got out of there, Nikki
I hope you stay safe Niki, especially with current news coming out of the region. Do what you can but stay safe and whole above all! Best wishes from America
OMG Niki. I ❤️ the cat 🐈 cafe! That's the greatest thing I've ever seen. Will you consider adopting one of the poor cats? They are great companions.
@Melissa Williamson Ha, I've seen a cat café in England too - in the town of Bournemouth. Perhaps they're quite common now.
Time to get out. I know it’s painful, but you are such a joy. Get out while you can.
[Do you like poetry?]
The night came quicker than usual and it caught me by surprise.

Not to mention the sword ⚔️ performance. Would you do that walk?
You need to escape!! Now!! Love Grandma Debbie
I've never heard of a cat cafe but loved the concept. (Even though I can't call myself a cat lover.) Nice to meet your sister. And that view from your capsule was impressive!
You can find cat cafes in most western cities.
@@Jabberstax Had no idea.
Please be safe, Niki!!
Time to pack a suitcase buddy ... get out while you can...
Missing my time in Moscow so much !
I lived in both Moscow and St.Petersburg but preferred Moscow. Thank you so much for this clip :)
The news is Putin is getting ready to call up a general mobilization.
Russia looks like a very nice country. Very modern and clean and the subway looks very nice too. And safe.
Man,you are funny 🤣 that's only Moscow
Major cities yes…
SMO isn't going well. Mobilization coming Niki. Leave while you can.
You're a good man Niki, thanks for doing these videos.
Thank you for the great tour❣️You and your sister are so cute 🤩
Niki. Things this morning have changed a thing in Russia for you? You need to think about getting out now! they might just take you, right off the streets? better to be safe, not sorry. Niki, you're a good kid, war would ruin you if you live. So if you can get out? get out now. You can always go back but you need to get out ...now.
That was good Niki , I loved that capsule Hotel high up in that building
My sister and brother in law have traveled all over the world and St. Petersburg is their favorite city they’ve visited. I’ve wanted to visit Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok but that likely won’t be possible for many years still.
Aww Cat Cafe is so nice, maybe there's some in my country in Belgrade as well, I already have 9 cats at home xD
Maybe you can open the first one. Get a job, cats! ;)
😊
How do you all feel about being mobilised tomorrow and being sent to the frontline as cannon fodder? Martial Law is also to be announced in Russia with increase prison sentences for evasion, surrender and desertion. Things just got serious for you guys.
All the Best to good russian people from polish guy . Peace not war!
If they watch your videos they might extra pick on you.
mobilization is in army, not among civilians
@@alteronline no, mobilization here meaning a full-out traditional draft of all able-bodied men of combat age.
@@alteronline yeah, you can't really trust what putin does
If you get mobilized, surrender immediately to Ukraine! 😅❤
Congratulations to your sister it is so nice you went there to support her and see friends.
Soon we will get vlogs from the frontlines here.
😥
Moskau to Vladivostok is 9 hours, and that is a domestic flight?? That is mind-blowing.
Nice to see russian people are perfectly normal people like you and me . Keep up the good work ! Never made it to the red place, but would like to. My father made it in the early 80`s, but his motivation was because he didn`t succeed in 42/43. Drushba
Amazing and informative content, what a stunning places you let your viewer experience together with you thank you so so much for your hardwork keep it up Nikki ! Much appreciate take care always ,greetings from Singapore💫💫💫👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
See Natashia traveled to Georgia and visited Zack like you did recently. This is good, hope she stays there for some time. Again thanks for your videos. Hope Depressed Russian is doing fine, and hope she stayed in S. Petersburg for a stay. She seemed so unhappy in the far east. Be well Niki, and hope things do not change too much in coming weeks. But would still consider schooling overseas if you can. Who knows what the future holds of citizens of Russia, or what Putin may say in his speech, as I do now wish you in any war or operation so to speak. TY
Please consider taking a vacation with your girlfriend, I hear Georgia is wonderful to plan a holiday. Please do so very soon. You are a wonderful UA-cam creator with such a bright future, please consider a temporary vacation as suggested.
Doubt they’ll let them out now
He won’t know unless he tries
A military Tattoo is a term describing military music. It also is used to describe performances by military bands.
Scary developments. Please keep safe and get out if you can. 😌
good luck fella, hope you don't get mobilised
I am not Russian but an Indian and I feel if you travel anywhere in the world you won’t be happy. I tried but returned to my country. Today I try to see positivity more than failings
Stay safe man.
Very well done. Great production quality. Must have taken you a long time to edit.
Hello Nikki! Vi tu documental en español de jubilee, espero que todo mejore por allí! Saludos de Argentina
Looks like Russia is a place to leave
Beautiful city, lots of historic places, his sister is going to a free university
Great content Niki! Thank you ❤
6:54 I like the creativity of the architects who designed this, especially the twisted building.
Niki, Thanks for the tour of Moscow, it was beautiful and very modern city, much like our cities in America
only more modern, like space age. I was thinking: what if all our beautiful cities were destroyed in a nuclear war?
What a pity that would be. I hope peace comes soon.
How I'd love to visit Moscow, St Petersburg was beautiful but I never got to Moscow. Hopefully I can visit in the future.
