@UhDewSea I mean, from what I know, past Riot titles all had titles that were associated with the main IP. The Cannon bros have also made it known multiple times that Riot have given them complete freedom over the game's development. Last point, if you pay attention to things like EVO and GGPO, this feels like it falls in line, except it's a shit name.

I'm really curious what the meeting was like when they decided that was going to be the name. It sounds like someone was trying to suggest something else but started coughing halfway through and the director went "that's what we're going with".

Also the official site has 16 character slots. Doesn't necessarily mean anything, but someone did put those 16 slots there, for whatever it's worth.
Honestly, it's the fact that the 2 is the first "letter" that makes this so wonky. I feel like moving forward, people will just call it XKO, but my vote would be something like Fighters' Rift or literally anything with meaning behind it that we could THEN shorten.
Just "2X" I think is more likely to catch on, once it enters into the vernacular

I think this is a lot like that first Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer where Sonic looked like some kind of horrific abomination. And they actually delayed the film and brought in Tyson Hesse to completely fix the art direction of the film. There's a lesson to be learned there: nowadays everybody just remembers Sonic 1 and 2 being well made, fun movies that generally stayed true to the series roots. People barely even remember that horrific first Sonic trailer anymore. There's still time for Riot to save face. I think either Double KO or Project L would both work as better names. Hopefully Riot listens to the overwhelmingly negative feedback on the name and realizes there's still time to save face. If they play their cards right, we'll all be laughing in 2027 like "Remember when this game was called 2XKO or whatever?".

Since the name is 2XKO, they should make the name sound like TWICE KO, since it's a 2x2 Tag Tournament, and make the sets FT2, where the winners needs to KO the opponents TWICE to win the match.
