I think if Putin though he COULD safely take out Prigozhin, he would have done so. A key point in this discussion is that Prigozhin has his own army. And you can bet he has a very strong security team--not so easy to poison or defenestrate. And with Putin's distrust of the regular army, he has to rely on his own "Praetorian Guard". Is it bigger than Prigozhin's army? Not sure--but I don't think Putin wants to put it to the test with a civil war. If he tries to take down Prigozhin and it becomes an open war between factions, I can easily see the army siding with Prigozhin, and then it's all over for Putin for sure.

Naa, putin just needs to find some evidence of western collusion, raid his offices and announce him as enemy of the state. He would be eliminated in days or seek refuge in some Middle East country - like most warlords and ex presidents do.

I think that Putin still needs Prigozhin and so tolerates him. Prigozhin has delivered the only "victory" in over 450 days of fighting whereas the big Russian army is stuck in the mud. But Russia is over 50 BILLION in debt. How much longer can Russia afford to keep the war going while its income dwindles? I think Putin does not want to admit defeat and hopes he can somehow win the war before Russia goes bankrupt. I believe that soon Putin will be forced out of office to save Russia from bankruptcy.

I don't think so. The Rosgvardia have 340,000 thugs. They are structured to keep the domestic "peace". The military isn't structured to assault targets inside Russia, especially since Shoigu and Gerasimov are very loyal to Putin. That's why they're still around despite displaying epic levels of incompetence.

The expert guests are totally wrong here. Prigozhin's remarks are obviously choreographed by the Kremlin to give the appearance of a semblance of open society, while at the same time keeping the Russian military commanders on their toes and ready to show Putin that Prigozhin is wrong and that they can get the job done. Would not be surprised if Putin wrote out Prigozhin's text himself. Hitler had much the same approach with his top leadership - pitting one against the other - all to his advantage. To think that the Kremlin would allow this type of open criticism otherwise is totally absurd.

I spoke to two 30 year old Russians today in Goa and asked what it was like in Russia becuz news channels are unreliable. According to them they thought the war was good, that Ukraine was their land, and were satisfied with how things were going. Totally different to how we are led to believe what they are thinking by our media. Sanctions against Russia have been ineffective and whilst official Russian data sources suggest that sanctions are working, it's not impossible for the sources to be telling us what we want to hear in order to limit how hard we attempt to enforce sanctions. Russia has not struggled to keep firing very expensive rocket's every day for more than a year or to recruit and equip 3 armies of 2-300,000 troops during this time.

Why is Prigozhin being so outspoken? Maybe Prigozhin is saying exactly what Putin himself would like to say, but can't because it would make him look weak. Maybe Prigozhin and Putin are playing a game of good cop/bad cop. This is the simplest explanation that fits all the facts.

It seems that Prigozhin was victorious in capturing Bakhmut. Or did the Ukrainian army let him take Bakhmut? At the start of the clash over Bakhmut Prigozhin controlled about 50 km of the front line. But when he finally did grab Bakhmut he controlled less than 5 km of the front line. The clash has cost Prigozhin enormously. Did the Ukrainian army seriously deplete the Wagner forces such that they can more easily be defeated when the Ukrainian army launches its big counter offense? Meanwhile Prigozhin likes to think he captured Bakhmut and delivered a victory to Putin. But this is the only "victory" that Putin has in over 450 days of fighting and losing so many thousands of soldiers and so much equipment. The Russian economy will soon be bankrupt if Putin continues with his war. So, Putin still needs Prigozhin and the Wagner forces. Hence he tolerates Prigozhin. Prigozhin like to think he is a great military commander and is trumpeting his success. But Russia is now more than 50 BILLION in debt and the war continues to cost the Russian economy dearly. So to save Russia from bankruptcy Putin must be forcibly removed from office. I believe it will happen soon because Russia's income has dwindled but its debt has ballooned enormously. The Russian economy is approaching its tipping pooint.

I too understsand that there have been tons of reports in the US, that Bakhmut cost Prigozan tens iof thiousands of soldiers. Ukraine pulled out b/c of their giant losses. the issue I struggle with is WHY WAS BAKHMUT so important? I’m an old lady but I don’t see any clear military benefit of conquering Bakhumt except to tell the russians they finally won something. In reality, I think that Crimea is a better winning strategy for Ukraine. Russian military officers and russian people are leaving Crimea in droves. Perhaps this is where the huge countrer offensive should take place……forget eastern Ukraine right now. Capture the entire Crimea and the war is over?????

The Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances comprises three substantially identical political agreements signed at the OSCE conference in Budapest, Hungary, on 5 December 1994, to provide security assurances by its signatories relating to the accession of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
The three memoranda were originally signed by three nuclear powers: the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States. The United Kingdom and the United States guaranteed that Ukraine would be a sovereign independent nation for giving up its nuclear weapons for world peace. Russia had no right to ever have annexed Crimea. The United Kingdom and the United States had the right to protect Ukraine.

Prigozhin is a clown, useful fool but has no merit to argue with professional (high ranking) officers, come back to another case history re: 1991 an military cup attempt against Yelchin , you may observe that professional Russian generals kept their distance and managed to settle the situation without causing a nuclear disaster for post soviets Russia...I would be very cautious about speculation that privertes warlords like Prigozhin can influence Kreml elite decisions, Putin can be poison or disposed otherwise, but with whom(?) you'll be taking if not educated and professional military staff?

Bhamut is probably the most successful trap ever created in a military history. Ultimately, the Russian managed to turn Bhamut the graveyard of the Ukrainian Army. Atleast, 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed & many more wounded. It's nothing but a complete disaster. Zelensky obsessed over Bhamut where Hitler obsessed with a Stalingrad. And Ukrainian had to pay a terrible price. The Russian 🇷🇺 now waiting one more burst of energy out of Ukrainian which they will annihilate another massive offensive that goes nowhere & then they're going to move to take Odessa & Karkov. This is exactly what is going on right now.

Did Prigozhin really conquer Bakhmut or did the Ukrainian army let him have what is left of Bakhmut? At this time the Wagner forces had been seriously depleted and controlled less than 5 KM of the front line - it was 50 KM. So the Wagner forces leave and the Russian army takes over. But the Russian army is not as capable and now is getting pushed back by the Ukrainian army.
Prigozhin likes to think the gave Putin a victory. Putin can not end the war. His ego will not let him give up. Hence he will soon be forcibly removed from office just before Russia goes bankrupt. Everything else is like what you said: Propaganda.
