Flying from MTL to Banff (direct flight). Have the largest size Dakine Tour bag, which I would load my boots and outerwear in for optimal padding. But paranoia makes me think I should get a dedicated air travel bag like high roller or low roller. Although I struggle to see the big difference between Tour and Low Roller (besides wheel aspect). What is your informed opinion on this?
Don't have an informed opinion on the Tour - my understanding is - it is like high and low but without the wheels. (so lighter in weight.) But I DO have an opinion on snowboard bags without wheels - lugging them on your shoulders through airports (along with backpacks; other items) can get tiring fast, but even small children can easily handle a bag with wheels.
Thanks prompt reply! That is my understanding too. I don’t really mind carrying the bag on vs rolling it. My main concern is essentially protecting the board, and whether the Tour is adequate
Apart from the wheel-end handle and belt-ties they seem low quality or cheap to me. From stitching to padding and back. The low one having the zipper further from the outside, as well as no vent-side on the boot bag, look better or more durable than those of the costlier bigger bro’s? Don’t really understand the advantage of a ventilation panel on a bag, that on it’s turn, is stored in a non-vent bag 😅 The quality and durability of all products is visibly deteriorating exponentially. This unfortunately applies to all brands, whether established or new… Whatever happened to ‘built to last’, or ‘made to endure’ 😢 In addition they lower overall quality and then raise prices, imho 😅 My two cents ✌️
Hear ya! Well said. Some things better then, some things better now. Had a bag a few years ago that was canvas. Once it ripped, there was no amount of duct tape that would hold it together.
Thank god for this review. I've googled this like 20 times and almost no one can give you a straight answer on forums. This is exactly what I needed.

Thank you so much for this review, it helped me choose which one to get for my son, he’s going to be stoked about getting a high roller for sure

Thanks! Appreciate it.
To the point, awesome!
Thanks, glad you liked it! (Obviously Type A Snowboarder, same as me!)
Great review! I think im going to go with the low roller, in my case I dont see the extra room or pockets justifying the higher price!
Good choice! Pack a little lighter, save a little money.
Cheers! Now I know what bad to buy :)

I know people with dakine bags that lasted more than a decades worth of travelling.
hope mine make it that long! checked out your channel - nice vert jump (twelve years ago), and enjoyed the biking.
