Undoubtedly a skill issue... is what I would say if I hadn't cried after attempting it
Pigeon moment
Yeah, I *definitely* don't have an hour of outtakes swearing at a dozen different bushes and rocks before I got my 4'35 run, no sir ...
@@_Luciboy_ Pretty sure the entire stage is one big pigeon moment™.
Maybe don't drive it in a pigeon?
@@Serzari still doing multiplayer races?
They NEVER miss with their updates
Every update feels like Christmas
I still remember waking up to the pigeon remaster. One of the days of all time
Beam Devs are some of my favs. They just drop these fantastic Updates both improving the visuals and driving of the sim and New Cars that just keep getting better and better. No announcements no paywalls just fantastic content whenever they can produce it
@@nick_isherwood387 many of them were modders and community members of the good old Rigs of Rods project, so they know exactly what the community likes and dislikes
@@MarchuxProductions well, that's actually a point of contention among some of the old guard, but lately the devs have really been on a roll and it's probably best to leave past drama behind
One of the coolest things about the most recent update is that they added separate bypass valve shocks that have ACTUAL fluid dynamic simulation inside the dampers. Absolutely unreal for a $30 game. Best devs ever
i forget it's only $25 whenever i play it lol
I love this game and devs
imagine a free update on a 25$ game beats and outperformance a 30$ DLC on a 60$ game LMAO
@@igorbordian6277 which game is charging $30 for an updatebool
It costs 5$ where i live🙊 Only makes it even more amazing
The thing with this car is the faster you go the more stable it becomes. The key is being as gentle as possible on the steering and always keeping it straight when it lands.
Before and after the jump, it's no use to keep the wheel forward if the car is already sideways.
@@Ferrari255GTO Yea but the point is you don't wanna get it into a slide to begin with, it's hard to control it once it goes and you just keep going left-right.
Or just go full stiff shocks and stay flat through the whole course at 100mph
A tip used in real Baja racing, if you blip the throttle going over jumps it keeps the front end from tipping in mid air
@@j_wide583 dude thoose gaps are massive and deep, there's no way you will survive with stiffer shocks
Beam NG has come so far. And it's still getting better
It's amazing, because while people complain about GTA V being milked tf out of, Beam hasn't even fully released a game that is still being improoved constantly. I hope they add DLC's because they're gonna run out of funding at this rate.
@@Ferrari255GTO i hope not. dlcs can ruin a perfectly fine game.
@@josephrobinson3359 i agree, but they're specially important for smaller devs like them to keep going. Even Automation has the V16 and the soundtrack to buy. It wouldn't bother me much knowing who they are if they did do it, It would take me a while to buy one though, i have played beam cracked for 4-5 years before actually buyng it, mostly because the majority of my family members didn't have credit cards until then and i just couldn't find steam cards anywhere.
@@Ferrari255GTO I mean Star Citizen is doing what you're suggesting to keep funding going and people complain endlessly about their monetary scheme. It all depends on what the money is used for and how it's designed to imrpove the game. GTA V makes billions and billions of dollars but the return on content is just kind of bleh.
@@billywashere6965 you're right, but the reason why it wouldn't worry me with Beam is because the devs are honest and the game is basically sandbox, there's nearly nowhere that this can be done because the campaigns content is mostly gameplay and everything that could be available on it through currency for example is available straight up on the freeroam. At most they could add some cars, maps, missions and parts as DLC, wich wouldn't seem bad to me.
i can definitely agree that beamng is one of the most underated
Agreed, beam is one of the underrated
Lmaao i saw you in the mx5 cup ac server today I'm pretty sure
@@deenster thats cool hope to see u again
Surely one of the games ever
they just need a better name
Getting sub-5 minutes on the trophy truck scenario is super fun and hilariously stressful. Gotta send it to skip over some bumps, and ease back at others so you aren't flung into the shadow realm.
Also, Baja: Edge of Control! I had no idea that got an HD rerelease on PC
I did not know about the HD release, ill have to look into it! was a big fan of THQ's offroad games growing up.
Baja edge of control is criminally underrated
in the truck speed is your best friend if you dont go fast enough the suspension what do what it was made too do.
@@blakebottoms2682 honestly if we could get a good studio and a license from SCORE (I think that's the organization that hosts the Baja 1000), then that would be sick. Hell maybe a game that includes both Baja and Dakar.
@@blakebottoms2682 Baja gang unite!!
BeamNG became the most fun driving game ever made, not hyperbole here, it has everything that many like me dreamed as a kid, impossible realistic crashes, hard but fair and at the same time hyperrealistic driving physics and fun game modes
that as exactly what I'm thinking
And now multiplayer too. Just need vr
As someone who grew up with Burnout Revenge, i remember when that felt the way Beam does now. It was surreal to live again the feeling i had the first first time i saw a car become aluminum foil whenever you screw up. Sadly takedowns aren't as epic anymore and involve self harm most of the times XD.
I remember as a kid being impressed by San Andreas or Driv3r car deformations on cars, sometimes I would play them just to see that. When I became aware of beamng it was like a dream come true haha. I always say to myself, if Beamng devs need more money to keep this going, I would not hesitate to help them, I need this on my life
@@toddthezondalover645 sadly multiplayer is a mod as of now.
11:26 that is such a Dakar/ Baja style roll seen in countless UA-cam videos. It’s beautiful
There is real, absolute magic in that game engine - it makes every other driving sim out there feel dead and inert by comparison, and like you JB, whenever I play it, no matter what I'm doing I only ever seem to have an ace time.
As soon as they do a final revamp of the areodynamics system and implement the tire heat system they've talked about I cant see a reason why this wouldn't be the most accurate to real life racing sim. It simply lacks the funding to buy rights to official tracks and cars, or that isn't their focus at least. Good thing mods bring in all the real life tracks.
@@idlx420 i doubt companies would like to see their cars crashing.
@@idlx420 If you bring real cars to this game then it will become another Assetto Corsa. It's literally impossible to make a proper sim with real cars, because of manufactures fucking childish mindset that games are ads and cars need to look pristine 100% time. Only modders can bring real cars without any licensing, devs - can't
@@ozar1472 wow that makes sense but don’t manufacturers let irl races like nascar use the likenesses of their production model which are crashed on full display. I suppose it’s a bit different, they would never understand the video game industry either.
@Isaac Landes Licensing restrictions are confusing, they are getting more and more stupid, I will never understand them and I wish they never existed
Editor Chan has perfect comedic timing
But damn I was *clenched* throughout that last hotlap
The new update is absolutely awesome, and I really hope to see some Roadbooks put together for the new map.
Seeing it go from a "hey look at the funny crash damage" showcase to an actual game is incredibly rewarding, with one of the best development teams in gaming atm.
It is really refreshing to see someone who spends way more time driving sims than I do rage quit. There are times where it feels like there is something fundamentally wrong with how I am driving and something that I just don't know. It is hard watching people be successful at something that I am struggling with so I appreciate you being honest and not hiding the struggle.
The newer multiplayer version has really hammered down the lag and interpolation. Actually had some really really good 1v1 touge runs this week.
Beam mp is plagued by cheaters turning their gravity up to gain artificial down force. At least in the road racing scene.
@@bakedandsteaked The only way to avoid cheating is to have the server recompute all the physics and kick the client if it submits data that doesn't match the server computations. To make it tolerable on CPU, let the server compute physics only for one player at a time and randomly switch between the clients. That should keep all the clients truthful because you have to keep sending data all the time and when server starts to verify your data stream, you'll be instantly kicked from the game if you send fake data.
@@MikkoRantalainen That makes sense but have you seen any servers actually doing this? I've been playing on vanilla "official" servers
@@bakedandsteaked I was only explaining what the server should be doing. I'm not aware of the servers actually doing this for real. And that's why cheaters can come and go at will.
@@MikkoRantalainen no lol, the "only way of doing it" would be to restrict powers from regular users like gravity
As a person that’s been playing this game ever since it’s been a demo basically, the knock it out of the park with every single update. I always come back to it all the time just to mess around with stuff and see the new stuff that gets added to the game.
The truck to that first “jumpy” section you were struggling in is to actually go faster 👍. I keep it to the floor from the corner and although it’s sketch as balls you can float through all of that 💪

Hell yeah hammer down!!!!
So glad you enjoyed it, this one is the toughest tt in the game (IMO). Very nice intro and description btw, props. Happy holidays.
From the mission creator himself :o
@@NicOz42 We work as a team. What I do is a very small part of the reality of things.
As someone who goes to Johnson Valley every year, this looks really good
its really cool seeing a game like beamng take inspo from the prerunning/ baja scene and koh and such!
The willpower displayed in NOT yeeting that headset off of the monitor was impeccable
Makes you appreciate those crazy Extreme-E races and also understand the many crashes.
I feel like if this game had proper terrain deformation physics it could turn into the PERFECT offroad racing game.
Always happy to see more Beam content
i cannot say enough how much i LOVE this game
BeamNG has actually taught me how to drive a car and how to use manual transmission. Now my favorite activity on BeamNG is hillclimb/time attack
if any of the devs reads this comment: i cannot thank you enough, you saved me a broken gearbox and my dad screaming at me for grinding gears and broken bumpers
Same! I've learned all the its and bits of manual driving through BeamNG
I'm so glad Baja Edge of Control is mentioned. I played that game back on the PS3 it was so underrated
Always love the BeamNG videos, it's a change from usual and it's really fun to watch. This game deserves more visibility, the potential is unlimited!!
The map is also massive! this stage is only a small part of it... theres a lot longer road around the map that could be a similar challenge.
They really did nail the Baja-vibe here... Baja Edge of Control is still the best baja game out there but its very old at this point, beamng has done what weve been waiting for decades!
Hopefully this map could be expanded upon and possibly provide a several hour stage for the endurance freaks. :D (edge of control has baja 1000-mode which goes through all the stages of the game in about 20 minute segments and the whole race is around 3 hours long)
The impressive thing is this game isn't even focused on Baja, this is just one update that added all these stuff
A free update might i add
What I like about beam is every single little thing is being simulated in real time as you play, like, everything. Its so fun to mod the smallest things on your car and see how if affects you're lap times/characteristics of the car your driving. And the game only gets better with every update
At this rate BeamNG will just be the best go-to car game in general, they've got drifting, drag racing, they've now got Dekar Desert rally but with better physics and driving mechanics, etc... What a great passion project
awesome game, am proud of it - never seen Jimmer working so hard behind the wheel... :D
Wow the graphics have improved massively!
Bloody hell Jimmy, you have single handedly had me spend money on just about every driving SIM you play. I love it
When I see Johnson Valley, I think King of The Hammers. Love your channel dude.
If any of you are unfamiliar, look it up. One of the most hard-core endurance races in existence. Rock crawling combined with high speed desert running.
I beat the slow time in the scenario. I'm content with that.
Edit: It's crazy fun, though. I can't wait to see what track/trails they come up with.
I'm so glad you mentioned BAJA the game. Those hour long split screen races were some of my favorite memories.
I'm happy to see Jimmy continues in his tradition to include at least one game of Car-rock in his BeamNG videos
grew up riding mx in the johnson valley, those mountains in the distance are such a familiar sight and that stage road looks 100% accurate to the terrain we used to hit
Great stuff dude, I love that you highlight this game. Think of Trophy/Buggy racing is sort like BMX with cars, one has to find the "flow" though the doubles, rollers, dips. "I think" if you went for smooth but slow run (Pre-Running) first then go hard is the way to go. BUT I don't pretend to know, armchair advice, grain of salt etc.. But it helped me get a decent time.
Also, hitting the brake or gas while in the air has an effect on your angle, especially helpful for getting your landing right with bigger jumps in the open dunes
I haven't tried out the trophy truck yet. Fell in love with the slow but hilariously fun army truck. That I then bounced into the shadow realm like you did over the bumps.
I've been a huge fan of this game for years now, even back in the "crashing simulator" days, and LOVE how far it's come.
Best part? This major update came only a few months after ANOTHER major update!
@Jimmy This scenario is basically what the Baja/NORRA (the american/mexican version of dakar) races are like. Pure/brutal offroad endurance. I saw the intro and idk how accurate the ingame Speedometer is but going 60+ is not going to be a fun time irl. To be in mind, the Baja/NORRA comes in 3 flavors: the 250, 500, and 1000. Each race roughly translates to the number of miles for each race. The 1000 takes around 24 hours to complete. There was also a video game made called Baja: Edge of Control, made by THQ before the company went under, but it is more "arcade" in terms of playstyle.
Would also like to shoutout the 2 movies, Dust to Glory, and Dust 2 Glory
If you go into settings and gameplay, on the top (In general) is "Competitive scenario conditions" and if you untick that you can reset the car mid run or use ctrl to roll it on again
Amazing video. Just got me to purchase the game :D didn't hear about it until now. Would be interested to see a YT short of you completing the track with your goal completed :)
So glad you put out a video for this update so quickly!
Honestly I’m so glad you mentioned Baja edge of control because that game gets overlooked and it’s an amazing off-road racer
5:39 this shot looks amazing, always loved this type of baja shots. God i wish i had a pc good enough for this game😂
BeamNG will be a big big game in the future, especially with a huge modding community
No it won't. They lost too much time and too many people to unplayable lag.
@@asharista3152 it definitely will, this game has a willing dev team and a very good core engine meaning it has massive potential
@@allthingsmotorized1885 not in our lifetime. Let's be real here.

This looks really cool! Man, now I want to make an off-road truck in Automation to run this course with!
Love the message/alert "Engine is starved of oil" that appeared when you were parked on your roof
Looks like an actual desert race course and how it looks like riding inside an actual Trophy Truck. Incredible. Only took 20 years since I got into that sport before it could be accurately portrayed in a video game!
A personal favourite challenge of mine, although old, in PGR 4 you can do a snowy nurburgring in 1950s cars, its amazing fun in cockpit camera
Loved that game
This brought back memories of a game called Smugglers Run 2. Loved that game.
That was one of my favorites, especially the 4 player splitscreen.rockstar need to make a remaster of that
Painted one of the unlimited Baja bugs recently added pure red as tribute to those games. Wished we had another series akin to it and overhauled.
Yes the beam Ng content is back ! Nothing more fun than watching Jimmy brave mountains and other uneven terrain in this super sensitive sim racer
This truck sounds good too. This game has gotten so much better
As you've said, BeamNG is one of those games that's just always a good time. There's occasionally a very minor bug or two but the updates are always of impressive quality. No other developer I know of manages to be so on-point so consistently. You should give the new Bootlegger's Revenge a try as well. It's the best crawling scenario thus far.
Edit: I also just found a mod called "Johnson Valley 50" on the repo. It's a desert racing trial like this one, but longer. A lot longer. The gold time is 33:20.
This is the content we love ❤️ jimmer saying I'm doing alright just before punting himself into oblivion. Great work. 👌
Man, I remember when BeamNG first came out, and the actually driving and tire physics were basically just like driving on ice all the time. Love to see the progress
I don't think I've laughed so hard at a Jimmy video in like 5 years.
That actually looks and feels like Johnson valley. I’ve been there watching king of the hammers (huge ultra4 racing festival) and racing around in my friends sand rail and my jeep. That place is tons of fun.
Playing this game is therapeutic. Seeing my ride deform into something unrecognisable makes me feel warm and fuzzy
Now this suddenly looks good. Other videos i've seen of this game (and tried it years ago) ultimately didn't interest me enough, but now they seem to have actually made it much more true to life.
I have been playing through this run just waiting for this video
im hoping to get a wheel and pedals for Christmas and man after watching this i can't wait! already played BeanNG but man i hate driving on M&KB. just hope setting up the wheel aint too hard and its just plug and play.
I’ve drive side by sides in Johnson valley it’s flat out to stay on top but that also increases your change world a wild crash
that was one of the funniest comedy shows i have seen for a while
I'm super glad this game is still getting massive updates like this
I love the Jimmer's head goes back on that second launch!! I did it too lmao
I just posted my first run at 5:37:XX today... after about four hours of trying. The first set of washboards before the hairpin you can just rocket over them at 65 mph. Your wheels skip over the tops and if you can keep it straight enough, you'll make it though without much trouble. Throttle is everything in that truck, you don't want your back-end sliding out on you so you need to just give it enough power to accelerate and no more. Also, keep on the power when slowing down (not when braking, though) because the truck shifts its weight so incredibly far and it's so stinking heavy. The second washboards you need to stay slow because of all the turns. After you go past the remote pits you hit a nice open area. As you approach the low hill there is a great big jump: hit that SLOW. I couldn't do it over 45mph without flipping. After that, you get the flats. You can go flat-out on the flats and it's fun as hell.
Manage that weight balance and you're pretty much set!
"I think that tires broken, yep it's pointing inwards"
Everyone on our university off-road car team: "first time?"
Yeah we have never made it through a track day without wasting either a tire rod or a control arm. We have made it through a track day we just had to quickly replace parts lol
There definitely need to be more games like this (for the off-road part, at least). I miss stuff like SODA/Gripped (25 years old, now I feel ancient) and Baja (and the trucks/buggies in DiRT 4, oddly enough). There aren't enough off-road games like this. Sure, there's iRacing, but some of us don't have the budget to run that (or the motivation to run it as much as I should when subscribing; damn me for getting a year's sub on Black Friday a few years ago, and then never using it! D'oh!)
BeamNG and automation is really great content, hoping you'll keep bringin it!
14:32 angry wank substitude for naughty internet videos:
1. Enable the replay app
2. Do this scenario and record the replay
3. Watch the triple bypass shocks and everything else work in slowmotion
Record at high fps for less record jitter
fantastic video bud! I just found your channel. getting my Logitech G920 today! Id love to see more of this!
I’ve been watching this for 0:08 seconds and drunk me is thanking you already
Jimmy, Johnson Valley actually exists and they do host off road races. In an event called King of The Hammers, Its a LOT of fun. I'm a local to the area and love to go out there
I loved Baja edge of control and therefore love what beam is doing here.
5 years ago, i wanted this game
and to this day, i still want this game
After beating this challenge I can recommend two things. The auto trans works kind of inverted. You keep it like 2/3 throttle to keep it in 3rd and hit throttle full to downshift in need of torque.
And 2ndly you mash the brakes into the throttle in a straight line to slow down without the frontend diving into the ground. Then it gets much more controlled. These vehicles are very specific to drive so if you drive it like a regular car it won't work at all
I came back to BeamNG because of this video and as a normal high school joe, I couldn't be happier about two things: this fekkin' amazing content and posting a 5:13.0 on this scenario. Never again will I be faster than both a professional sim/IRL race car driver.
Yo Baja Edge of Control was such a great game.
The experience i remember was doing a full baja race and having to do a stage and a half with blown rear shocks and a flat tire because i didn't have any spares left and the repair chopper was bugged. lol
What a blast.
Song is intro Skywind by Systemec. Love it.
Soon as i saw Johnson Valley i knew this was going to be rough. This is where King of The Hammers is held: its 165 miles of desert racing and rock crawling with a 14 hour time limit, and the guys who race it are properly crazy
This game won my heart years ago. These updates just locked it in as my number 1 game
Gonna have to come back to this one, Jimmer.
You can remove the doors and bonet in the radial menu by the way. Think it's in fun stuff and then the option that says " hinges" just removes any hinges so all that stuff can fall off.
An underrated sim, and an underrated form of racing. This video convinced me to finally try BeamNG.
The angry wank successfully take off the edge, Jimmer?
Thant's what I heard?! is that what he said?
Colin McRae Rally crossed with BeamNG. The most needed game of the decade.
The game has become really amazing. Plenty of mods available, physics are getting better and better, graphical side has been massively improved and the whole game is just evolving. This game has a bright future ahead. I've been also waiting for trophy trucks for a long time and we finally have them in the game officially. And also we already have WIP Career mode available already (just click the career mode button few times and it lets you play it). Definitely one of my all time favourite games and will be one for a long time. 👌
Imagine doing official races in beamng, 24 hours of Lemans or Nurburgring in GT3 cars anyone?
Actual official track release updates with working pits+races rules and flags (yes there are mods for tracks) would be INSANE!
Imagine a LeMons race, though... Racing in shitboxes who are on the verge of overheating whenever you give them full throttle would be so much fun
If we get an aerodynamics revamp and tire heat like I've heard they're intending on doing some time in the future, then it'd damn near be perfect. Until then, drafting isn't really a thing and tires will always have lower grip levels as if they're cold. But when the time comes, we'll be in some serious business lol.
This game has changed so much since you released that first video a few years go; with that red and white rallying car. Unreal.
that edit at 10:45 is absolute gold lol
Baja edge of control is gold, it used to be my fav game and it was like that for like 5 straight years, it’s old but still recommend it
Thanks Jimmer. You inspired me to get a wheel and start working at getting good at something in my life. Not to mention the work you do with Mind. 🤴
The realism they added with this update and the Johnson Valley map is insane, it’s based off of King of Hammers and if anyone is wondering how accurate it is just look up desert running king of hammers.
I’ve been waiting for jimmy to do something with baja! More please!!
This reminds me of the first time i tried motocross, it was chaotic as hell but fun
Well looks like I'm giving this another go would have never known about this had ya not put this video up thanks 👍
Baja: Edge of Control, great throw back reference. Amazing for the age. I think I have it downloaded somewhere?
I’ve been trying to do one 50 mile Johnson valley race for 3 days now without rolling or puncturing fuel tank lol but it’s so addicting
You should try the King of the Hammers mod scenario for this map. It's about an hour long rock crawl and high speed desert running trial. It took me at least 15 tries to get through, and my truck was absolutely hammered by the end.
This scenario is really challenging but also really satisfying, going to try and push for a better time.
I beat it! With a sub 5min time! 4:59
This is what excites me in driving simulators.. this is the future of sim.
Man, imagine if the latest Dakar game was just BeamNG's vehicles and physics but with Dakar's huge map and presentation.
