My GithDurgy Monk had a vision when she was first confronted by Vlaakith. If she went with what she would usually do in this situation, she'd be killed on spot for questioning and refusing a god with the most hilarious smile on her face... she decided that bowing to the queen may allow their survival for the time being. But while she was within the Astral Prism, she realized that killing a man that was willing and ready to die.. wasn't fun, it was boring, dull, unsatisfying.. and she respected him for it. So she threw away the blade and turned her back on the God she never revered. This made the Undying Queen and her subordinates very, very angry. So, her whole crew (Lae'zel included), proceeded to get their level 5 asses the fuck out of there, and instead of taking the mountain pass, they made a break for the Underdark. This experience was a lot of character building for her. At first, she was scared, confused, and was just following the urge's desires... to an extent. She was already fighting back, but not very hard, her experiences had her kiss Wyll and fuck Astarion in the same night, as an example. But from this point on, she was convinced (Because of barely escaping the creche intact, and with all her companions intact) that she was not controlled by the urges, but instead, she was simply letting them control her. From that realization, she became smarter, more willful. She ended up refusing all of her urges from then on. After a certain point, she realized that Wyll was the one she truly wanted, broke it off with Astarion (Who was rather considerate of the issue at hand, surprisingly) and even turned down the twins, big daddy Halsin, and even Raphael XD
The Emperor doesn't respond well to you gutting him and given how much further ypu both need to go i prefer to maintain a congenial relationship as long as possible
