- Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow doesn't work very well if what you are trying to suck and squeeze has escaped past the piston rings and into the crank case. So to prevent this we are fitting brand new piston rings

Love that workshop door..its fantastic
Brilliant video. Really interesting. Looking forward to the next one.
Awesome job Oliver, just a great instructive little vid. I think it would be possible to follow your instructions on your channel and do the job myself. Confidence inspiring.👍🏻
Little by little your dad began to speak more on camera, very good contribution and that they can do it together! is a plus! 😃
Oliver, could you ask your father a question? advantages and disadvantages of polishing the piston head and the interior of the cylinder heads? I heard many much discussed pros and cons theories.
Exactly right on the aluminum cooling , in the 90s there was a fad , when people were getting their harley engine cases sanded and polished, when it was finished the engine looked beautiful, but the cooling of the engine was compromised
I’m anxiously awaiting an update on your home.
Thanks to you and your dad for explaining things in such detail. Very enjoyable!
ooh its a shame i scrapped the crank that ran its big end I could have posted it to show they do fail!
(and its good youv'e actually learned how to adjust the tappets properly this time)
But the manifold isn’t on, so heads will need to be loosened and re-torquing AND tappers done again.
I am really enjoying this little series. Thanks
Nice to see Andrew again and hear that after all those years of living in France he hasn't lost his accent . 🙂. All the best to you all
As always, really loved the video. It's super how you show how everything works and how it's done. And I really like how you and your dad are working together!
So enjoyable you are already No.1 Like two peas in a pod..Fab!
Great video!
I love seeing the engine cleaned up!
And slowly, in seeing everything from multiple angle multiple times, I might even be beginning to understand some stuff!
Stick a 1200GS BMW engine in it and make it interesting
That engine is beautiful. Have you thought about fabricating a Plexiglas hood to show it off? LOL
Great video! Nice to see your Dad honing his presentation skills too - good on him. Make sure you gap the plugs down to 0.7 or even close to 0.6. They'll be gapped at 0.8 or even 1.0mm from the factory for modern high capacity discharge ignitions that will produce a spark strong enough to bridge the gap. Joleen won't have the juice to do that.
Hello.
First of all, Happy New Year 2023!
My 2CV (602cc) has been lately using a lots of oil and puffing out blue smokes when accelerating at traffic lights especially when engine is hot.
The power output of the engine is pretty healthy.
Is it time for an engine rebuild?
If so, what needs to be done?
Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Didn't check the ring slot play?
You can do all of that to my Corvair's engine, I'll even pay for the air fare. 😅. 5:15 Thousandths of an inch?!
Wasn't this an incredible vid? I don't have the skills or the temperament to attempt such things, plus I've been feeler gauge impaired for most of my life. Oliver and his dad make it look so easy.
The iridium plugs you mentioned are interesting, I would like to try them.
Do you use those on the dyane6 too? I don't have electronic ignition, do they work well also without electronic ignition? What brand do tuo use?
We do indeed I've put an Amazon link for you in the description. They are more efficient than normal plugs regardless of ignition but if you can run electronic ignition too that makes a HUGE difference as does making sure the wiring for ignition and plugs isn't old and stiff because that causes resistance
@@OliverPickard thank you! Then I'll get those for now, and when the time arrives I'll switch to electronic ignition too!!
at 18'37, is that an oil sensor I see? how do you have it fitted? I though 425 didn't have any?
It's a later crank case an oil sensor was fitted for 1969 only
@@OliverPickard oh I see, thank you.
@@tinatpasselepoivre if it's a 2CV4 Surely its a 435cc unit that from memory has an oil pressure sensor. My AZL 425cc 1960 didn't have a sensor and the previous owner never checked the oil level either it ran a big end😭
Why do you think the 12 volt car has a 9 volt ignition system? Where are you loosing 3 volts?
All 12 volt cars do, you aren't loosing 3volts it's designed so the car will still start on a cold morning because a cold battery is just not as powerful as a warm one
A coil rated at 9v is designed for a ballasted system with a series resistor that is bypassed when you operate the starter, the double ended Citroen coil is an old design and rated for 12v, I can assure you it's not a 9v coil as it will literally burn out when the engine runs giving 13.8v, this also will raise the current and cause excess points erosion. Trust me on this. I've been working on these systems for 53 years.
That engine cleaned up beautifully! What product(s) did you use, besides a gallon of elbow grease. Also, you'd mentioned painting the firewall awhile back. Is that still in the cards, or are the temps too low to paint?
